It was dark enough now to wear Nathan assumed it was time for bed. He scooped up his ugly little kitten and went into his closet to undress and change in to nightly attire. He climbed into his bed after getting dressed and opened up a book to read with he and his kitten. The feline gave a small nuzzle and purred, causing Nathan to smile. " Hmm.. I wonder where Reynard is?" he asked to himself, unable to notice the impending glow coming from outside.

Along the way, Garrat had to stop in his tracks when Reynard suddenly flew in front of his face, chirping almost angrily. The knight was about to ask where the bird had been all this time, but decided against it. "Reynard, I need you to go find Nathaniel's nanny and get the room key from her." The bird seemed to have understood and flew off before Garrat could continue, and he hoped he would get the right key.
He continued towards the castle, running up to Nathaniel's room. For a moment, he wondered if he could break the door... Suddenly, a memory sprang into his mind. Nathaniel had given him his lockpick a couple of days ago! Garrat had completely forgotten about it, which meant he hadn't left it at the hut and it had to be somewhere on his person! Immediately, he began searching his pockets, hoping to find it somewhere.(The wonders of forgetting some things and remembering them later. XD)

Nathan had turned the lights out in his room and now noticed the glow outside. Curious, Nate got up and headed to the window and saw the riot happening outside when he notice the civilians standing outside. He heard a window shatter outside and caused him to get back up back in his bed. What was going on?
Nathan took the little kitten in his arms and ran back into to his closet to slip his pants back on over sleeping trousers. He could only slightly hear a woman outside by the gates shouting, but the sound of angry civilians shrouded over. But then outside, there was a much more familiar voice.
"Garrat!" the Duke's daughter called. "Please, don't run! " she begged from down the hall. "Garrat?" Nathan uttered from in his room, unaware that his knight was just outside.

Garrat was deaf to the rest of the world, focusing only on looking for the lockpick. He smiled upon locating the thin object and pulled it out, beginning to work at the lock. He was not going to let Nathaniel stay locked up while an angry mob might come to kill him.
He heard the lock click and he burst through the door. "Nathaniel! Hurry, we must flee!" Garrat urged, rushing to the prince. "The mob will start rushing in soon. We must be away by then." He said nothing of the deal he made with Manuerva.

Nathan jumped back when the door burst open! Although he was glad to see that his knight had returned to him, he wasn't expecting Garrat to be in such a state of urgency. "Garrat what's going on?" he asked nervously, clutching onto the naked kitten. Rosa ran to the and clutched to his arm. When the prince saw her, he couldn't help but frown. "So you've been with her all day?" he asked. Rosa huffed, "Yes he has!" she turned to Garrat, "Garrat, please stay! Don't run! It'll only get worse for you and Nathan!" she warned. Nathan, still being a prince, stepped forward with an angry glare, "Is that a threat?" he hissed. Rosa frowned,
"Please, don't do this! I can't protect you if you run!' she begged. Nathaniel looked confused. "What's she talking about?" he asked when another sound of footsteps was heard down the hall. Nathan reached out to the long haired man and stood in between him and Rosa. "If you think I'd ever hurt Garrat, then you don't understand anything about what true love looks like!" he declared! But unfortunately the longer the prince stood there, the closer the mob got through the gate doors!

"What do you suggest, then, Lady Rosa?" Garrat questioned, hissing the name. "I refuse to have Nathaniel stay here for an angry mob to tear apart. If you're worried about the deal, I am not escaping from it. Just allow me to take him somewhere safe, and then I'll return."
Hearing the footsteps, Garrat scooped Nathaniel into his arms and rushed to get out of the castle. There was no time to warn the rest of the family, but the knight didn't mind. He just wanted his prince to be safe.

Nathan was ready to use his cat to claw this woman's eyes out when Garrat surprised them both and picked him up! "Ah! Garrat!" Both the prince and the duchess cried out as the knight sprinted down the hall! When the Princess came down to see a distraught Rosa, she shouted at the knight, furious. "Manureva, no!" Rosa begged to deaf ears when the wicked blonde woman thrust her fist forward and a bushel of thorns erupted after two once they escaped her sight.
She screamed out after them and that made the prince shudder in fear and cling tighter to his soldier. "Garrat, Where are we going?!" he asked. Once they were outside, Nathan's horse trotted over to them. With a worrisome expression, Nathaniel clung onto the man's sleeve. "What's going on?"he begged.

Now might be a bad idea to go back, Garrat thought. He couldn't simply leave, but he highly doubted Nathaniel would even consider leaving him. The only thing he could do was find a safe place for Nathaniel and make it so that he couldn't come back. He might still be safe from Manuerva, perhaps, if Garrat made sure to return to carry out the rest of this deal.
For now, though, he needed to accompany the prince for a bit longer. Mounting the horse with Nathaniel, the knight sped away to the meadow where they had seen Joseph. It was a fair distance from the castle, so he was sure Nathaniel wouldn't be able to easily return by foot, and it was likely Joseph was the only dangerous thing there and he wouldn't attack the prince. That's where he'll leave him for now.
When they arrived, Garrat helped Nathaniel down. "I need you to stay here for a while," he told him. "I have some unfinished business to do with Manuerva and Rosa. I promise I'll return when it is done."

Nathaniel looked peeved and carefully placed the kitten down on the grass, but then reached up to gently clasp Garrat's paniced face. "No Garrat! Please don't go back alone! I want to help!" he begged but to probably no avail as, surely, Garrat may leave again to deal with Manureva and Rosa. Things were happening so fast, Nathan had completely missed the fact that his sister had returned.
If Garrat would return, the entire back of the castle had been overtaken by thorns. The civilians were already shoving the rest of the royal family in the dungeons while others prepare for...a glorious wedding?

Garrat smiled sadly and bent down to kiss Nathaniel. "There is nothing you can do. She will curse you if you try," he said when he pulled away. "I'll come back for you when this is over. Whether it is for you to return or to take you even farther away, I will be back." By then, the knight will have become a married man. It would be likely that he would never see his prince again.
Putting his cloak around the prince, the knight gave him a sad and final kiss. "I love you, Nathan," he said, as if bidding him farewell. "I hope you can forgive this vile traitor." With that, he mounted the horse and hurried back to the castle. He still had a deal to fulfill, after all.

Nathan felt nothing but bliss and warmth within his knight's kiss and wake embrace, but it was all so short lived that the prince was left alone too quickly. It was like Garrat's sweetness had sucked any strength Nathaniel had and fists that were supposed to stay tightly clenched and never release, couldn't grip tight enough and the knight mounted his horse and slipped away into the night! Leaving Nathan alone in the cold, dark meadow. During the day, anyone could traverse through these thickets ... But at night, shadows swayed and trees blocked once open paths. But still, Nathan urged forward and would find the castle on his own. Granted, he wouldn't find the path until morning.
Back at the castle, Rosa was put in the Queens chamber. Her bed and dressed were the most regal kind the duchess had ever seen, and though she would usually revel in their beauty, she could only hope Garrat would come back. But Manureva was setting herself so comfortably in the throne, she almost forgot about Garrat... Almost. When he was to return, she would welcome him back with a bit of a scowl but all the while pleased to see him. But perhaps she would need to take extra measure to ensure Garrat's cooperation. She can't simply let him run off like that again. "Welcome back, scum. I'm glad to see you've returned. You are as noble as everyone believes..."she chuckled. "Nathan would probably be dead by of you chose to not fulfill your deal.." She pointed out.

Garrat headed straight to the throne room when he returned, ignoring the wedding preparations. He said nothing to Manuerva, but made his hatred of her clear. He just wanted to get this deal over with, or maybe even find a loophole. For now, he couldn't think of any way out, or else Nathaniel would die.
His heart broke a bit when he thought of his prince. He couldn't imagine how Nathaniel would feel if he found out about the marriage. Would he understand? Garrat was only doing this to keep him safe, after all. If they didn't need him, he would be more than happy to leave with Nathaniel and never return.
Even now, Garrat didn't understand why these wenches couldn't get a more willing man.

The wedding ceremony was prepped and ready but Rosa was still getting fussed over to get into a wedding gown worthy of a Queen. As for Garrat, if he tried to escape, he wouldn't get very far since Manureva was near by.
It wasn't until the early hours in the morning when all of the preparations were ready for the new couple to settle into their new castle. With the old King and Queen imprisoned, the crazy Princess was happily fortifying her plan, making attempts to comb Garrat's long hair. "You'll make a fine King.. " he murmured. Perhaps it was her attempt to "cheer him up".
And though it was a scary and tiresome trek back along the darkened path, he managed to wind up back in the village with his naked little kitten in hand. But he was so cold and his weak body could barely move. They slunk heavily behind him. He had to sit beside a near by stable and yawned as he wished he stay but knew that his best friend in danger or needed assistance from ... Oh! the villagers were already up! He noticed most of them talking about something. What it was was just to too difficult to decipher. He was so tired. He wanted to storm in the castle and whisk the knight off his feet and carry him away. But he was just too weak. ......
As the boy searched though, he became more and more discouraged because of his lack of muscle and strength. He should've trained with Garrat sooner. As he kept walking through the town that didn't even recognize the dirt covered prince, he could hear talk about a wedding. It confused him even more when bells began to sound throughout the kingdom.

Garrat moved away from her. "You mean 'puppet,'" he hissed. "What do you intend to do once I'm on the throne?" Even now, he found it difficult to comprehend the point of this. "Am I to be a mere figurehead for you?"
The wedding bells outside were more like death chimes to the knight. He was about to be forced into a miserable life: married to the woman he now despised and he might never see Nathaniel again. He hoped the prince wouldn't be here, or his heart would surely be broken.
There were knocks at the door, telling him that it was almost time for him to be at the altar. This was it. His life would end once he made the vows.

Nathan began to piece the puzzle laying out before him. This wasn't supposed to be happening! Not to Garrat! The only people to be excited about the wedding seemed the be the civilians themselves! Even Rosa was beginning to get the wash of guilt falling over her. Nathan ran towards the castle with the kitten in hand and soon saw the crowd forming in the square, similar to the way they gather when the executioner would hang a criminal but.. they were happy. Excited at a glorifying scene that was ready to take place. But before he could run inside, the thorns that surrounded the garden took hold of the prince and yanked him away from the crowd.
He dropped the kitten that managed to me make its way inside. But the thorns hid and pulled him back from getting too close to his castle! There was Rosa standing under an altar on the balcony with a priest. Just before Garrat step out, possibly hearing Nathan shouting, another painful wrapping of thorns around his lips prevented him from calling out. As the tears fell, Garrat walked out.
His heart may have been breaking but he knew he couldn't hold his knight against it . It was probably Rosa's plan! She was the enemy! But from this position, he was helpless.
Manureva grinned and leaned back to push Garrat to the hallway. "The best ones to rule a kingdom are the most unlikely. And you are about as unlikely as they come.. " she grinned.
