Shayla shurgged.
"That may be what happened....I don't even remember to be honest. As far as I know, they started when I wasn't around...but it had always been when I was at a high emotional peak...so it is a possibility."
She laughed and smiled slightly.
"That was a one time thing....after a couple times, I realized it wasn't what I wanted. I was actually trying to make you jealous, to tell you the truth. So right now, there is no 'secret lover'. After I got pregnant....that ended."
She shook her head,
"I will never reveal his identity though...that is a secret I shall carry to my grave."

"Well, emotional peaks don't help you. There's even been...some cases where emotions can force the change, even if it's only in small parts."
Dinin shrugged looked bemused.
"You...you slept with him to make jealous?"
He laughed, and laughed.
"You slept with my slave to make me angry? Oh you sweet, sweet deluded hybrid, where did you ever get such an idea?"
Dinin pulled her into a huge and gave her a fond kiss.

Shayla's lips tingled from where Dinin kissed her, making her smile as she looked up at him.
"I really have no clue what got into me. I was jealous and I thought that if your bride gave her virginity to another, you would leave Liante and plead for my forgiveness. Obviously, I was wrong. And that was before I accepted reality."
She shrugged and laughed.
"Live and learn, right? No one is a better teacher but experience within itself."

Dinin laughed again.
"I hadn't realized that you were such a philosopher, Shayla."

Shayla smirked,
"I can be. Dinin, there are so many things you still need to learn about me. Good thing we have lots of time, eh?"
She kissed him lightly on the cheek and watched the sun set before them.
"I have to say...the scenery is much prettier at sunset and at night....it makes me want to shift forms and fly. I cant wait until I am better....I miss feeling the air against my skin...."

Dinin shrugged.
“Hybrids live longer than humans, this is true, but not nearly so long as with dragons, or even xanas. I’m a couple hundred years old, and I’ll probably live for another thousand years. You’ll be lucky to live to be three hundred.”
He smiled quietly to himself, like there was this inside joke.
“There is truly, nothing like the feeling of flying, is there? I’d go for a fly now, but that would be just terribly rude of me.”
His smile was charming this time.

Shayla smiled.
"It would be rude, yes, but I wouldn't fault you for it. Holding back because I'm still under strict orders to not transform wouldn't be fair to you, and I would feel bad for holding you back."
She sighed.
"Dinin...the minute I get the okay...promise you will go flying with me? the first thing we do?"

“You have my solemn vow that as soon as Linate, Linate mind you, not one of these quaks you have around here, says it’s okay to fly, then yes, we will go flying.”
Dinin raised an eyebrow.
“Who said anything about shifting? I was just planning on falling for a little while. You should try it; it’s magical.”
He laughed lightly.
“Or I could simply just carry you. That’s what I do with my Di’Viir. And younglings, too little to fly alone.”
[(1) If you double the number three hundred, you do not get nine hundred. (2) Why do you want Shayla to live so long? (3) I just pulled a number out of my a** for her life span. We can completely change it, if you want.]

[whatever, I was never good at math anyways. I just wanted her to live a longer lifespan with Dinin, thats all.]

Shayla smiled.
"Hmm...you would carry me? Its been a long time since you've carried me during flight. I just want to feel the wind against my skin again...I've missed it. I'm so tired of laying around."
She laughed,
"If I eat and sleep too much, I could become fat, and I don't know about you, but I would not want you to have a fat wife, I am to be the wife of a dragon king after all. I have to make sure I look somewhat attractive by your side, even if I'm a hybrid."

Dinin laughed.
“A fat dragon is a healthy dragon, Shayla. You should put a few kilos on, anyway. You’re too skinny.”
He disentangled himself from Shayla, climbed up onto the banister and took a step off. He let himself drop for a minute before he shifted and spread his wings, ridding up on an updraft. Dinin hovered in front of Shayla’s banister.
“You do want a ride, don’t you?”

Very carefully, Dinin dropped down below the level of the banister, positioned so that the base of his long neck was more or less aligned with the balcony.
"Hope on, and hold on tightly."

Shayla jumped down onto his back and held onto him as he soared into the sky. She smiled as the wind rushed through her hair, as the breeze licked her skin.
"This is amazing.....I could stay in the sky forever!"
She laughed, and then layed her head against his back as they soared through the dawn, soon becoming a beautiful night sky lit with hundreds of thousands of twinkling stars.

Three days later, Shayla was up and out of bed and already wielding a sword. Her eyes narrowed in determination, she carefully watched Dinin's footwork, dodging and swinging at the appropriate times. It was nice to be able to spar again, she missed their weekly sword duels.
She smiled as sweat poured down her face, and after awhile, Dinin had disarmed her and had her pinned up against the side of the castle.
"I guess this means you win the round, huh? Now your ahead again. This wont do. Another round? Its 24 to 25 now, and you have to win by two."
Shayla grinned up at him. She had been in bed so long that she had a lot of energy to burn.
"We should go flying again tonight."

Dinin lowered his sword from Shayla’s throat and returned her sword to her, nodding.
“Alright, but not as far tonight as yesterday. I want to be back by light.”
He backed away from her, and assumed Position One. He loved the way she looked like this: flushed and excited, a trickle of sweat running down the side of her face.
“Let’s go again.”
Being a gentleman, he let her have the first swing.

Shayla smiled and backed into position one before making the first move. Her moves were better than the first 25 rounds, but Dinin was still better. The young hybrid was still a bit rusty from being out of commission for a month. With what seemed like little effort, Dinin had disarmed her once again and had her pinned to the brick.
Shayla sighed and gave him a small smile.
"Fine. I guess you win. It was fair and square after all."
Her skin glistened with the sweat from all the exercise, her heart still racing and her face flushed with excitement. Her adrenaline was still pumping, and she figured it was about time for another flight. She couldn't wait, it was going to be the first flight since she got the "okay" from Liante to transform again.
