I believe the order was this: L'arc~en~Ciel, Gackt, Dir en grey, then others. I remember getting into visual kei. I downloaded Diru's "Garden" since I was getting in Japanese music and saw Dir en grey as one of the top 5(?) rock bands in Japan. I did saw their pictures before I figured out it was them. At first I was kinda creeped out (I was an ordinary lass back then) then I heard Garden, found out the pictures were them then somehow got into what they wore and loved their music. It all began with their music. Love the old-school stuff. Not so sure about their new stuff though.

+[luluness] I was watching Get Backers several years ago, and I heard the second opening, which was by PIERROT. Before that, I was a big Jpop fan, and dind't know much about Jrock. After I heard Barairo no Sekai, I became a huge PIERROT fan, and that's how I got interested in Jrock. I had totally forgotten Pierrot did that opening until i was listening to the song wondering why it was so familiar... and why it reminded me of that Get backers song.... yeh.. I don't even think I was really into Pierrot the first time I heard that song x.x

Hmm I'd have to say Rurouni Kenshin ending 1/3 by Siam Shade. However what really got me into J-rock was a pv my friend sent me. It was a Dir en Grey pv ( I don't remember the song, but it got me hooked)

What exposed me to more than Two-Mix and Ayumi Hamasaki was my friend in 8th grade that spent all her spare time asking guys in the class if they thought Toshiya or Mana were really men. rofl Eventually they learned the truth. And it HURT. gonk

Well, the way I got into J-rock is through anime and through J-pop.I've always heard of J-Rock,but I haven't got any music of any J-rock artists at the time, until now. Now i'm into L'Arc~en~Ciel,Miyavi,Gackt,Alice Nine,The Pillows,High and Mighty Color,Aiwaka Nanase,Day After Tomorrow and Dir'en'Grey.. I hope to expand further on my JRock bands/artist

What got me into J-rock was... Anime, a friend, and reasearch. Lots and lots of research. Oh and the Web comic Garnet by Gerid Teckos Rhyda de Viadann. Which i found through Gaia in the art arena. That started the research after hearing Malice Mizer's Beast of Blood in the opening. I looked around about Malice Mizer and then Moi dix Mois. After that, things just got a lot crazier.

What got me into Jrock was anime. I would watch anime and here some cool music...so I thought to myself, that I would try to do some resaerch and figure the names of the singers/bands who made the songs. As I was searching I found out about Dir en Grey and now I listen to more Jrock then I used to. 3nodding

MadTiger Just randomly?? I do that, too! :3 Well, kinda. I was getting into FMA at the time, and I knew that READY STEADY GO was by them, and I had seen them on TV before... They seemed interesting so I got one of their CDs. ^^;;;. So I guess it sort of had to do with anime a little.

Some blog I was part of then had a couple of jrock fans who were always talking about malice mizer/deg/the like and one day I randomly looked a DEG fanpage to see what they were talking about. Now, this was like 5 years ago, and back then I was very sheltered and as of consequence I saw all these Gauze era pics and thought it this was probably one of the top most extreme bands in the world or something xD Next I tried some mp3s, and the rest is history.
iroinically, a few days ago I downloaded the first the DEG mp3 I ever heard , Myaku, which I haven't heard in at least a year and my only reaction was "........wtf"
