"Yes, but if they're retreating, they'll tell other and come back with more. No its better to finish this now. Mind if I go ahead?" Laurence nodded, perplexed. "You'll see." She searched out with her mind, taking out every retreating figure that she encountered. She left one, for Laurence. "Why don't you finish this battle, it is yours after all."

"I'll take that one," said Karissa, choosing a room at random. Still clutching the absent notes for Laurence and Rachel, she experienced a sudden jerking feeling. When she was still again, she saw Rachel and Laurence in front of her. As she watched, they killed a large number of humans. "Ouch," she winced, as one of the assassins got his head blown up. The scene in front of her slowly started to recede, as if she were moving backwards on a moving sidewalk. In just another moment, she was back at Arianna's house. "Are you okay?" the other girl asked. "Yeah. I'm fine. I just had some sort of vision...I guess my powers are expanding." Karissa frowned. "Did you see Laurence and Rachel?" asked Arianna hopefully. "Yeah. They look like they're having fun. It was like a scene from a shooting video game, I swear." Arianna grimaced at the imagery, she'd played a few of those games before.

"As long as they're ok. Do you know about how long it will be til they get back?" Ari asked.

"So, do I ever get to see where you live?" she asked him curiously.
He chuckled. "Well, I would be more than happy to show you, but I am a nomad of sorts." He smiled, taking a few steps toward her and holding his hands behind his back.

She giggled a little. "I guess you don't really strike me as the type who would enjoy settling down," she said with a sigh. "I wish I was like that, but I just get so attached to things."
He smiled. "I am a bit of a drifter. Though, when something strikes my interest, I tend to stay in a place longer than I probably should." He chuckled then.

She smiled at him. "Do I fall into that category or am I too boring?"
He gave her a serious look, "No, you're completely boring." He then waited a moment before laughing off his sarcasm. "Actually, I'm very fond of you. I think most of it has to do with the fact that you seem so human in nature," he looked around the room, "In one instance you collect objects, which isn't bad, of course, simply very... human. A second would show the simple fact that you could attend a school, be around them nearly every day," he turned to look at her, a quizical expression in his eyes and voice, "How do you do it?"

"No." Karissa admitted, half of her mind on the conversation and the other half on this interesting new development regarding her powers. Now she had invisiblity and premonitions. "But they killed a lot of people, I'd imagine they'd be back soon." She instantly regretted her choice of words.

"I think it has to do with the first vampires I met," she said softly. "They were...different, to say the least. They never really accepted what happened to us, so they acted like it didn't. We all befriended humans, rather than considering them a food source. We liked letting ourselves get attached to things, people. We had romances and friendships and lived normal lives." She looked out of the doorway to a picture of a few pale-skinned people, all smiling. "But then things started happening, and eventually we all had to accept it. I guess even after...I still can't." The thought of all that had happened came rushing back to her. Memories she was sure she had managed to push away. "But, it's all in the past now."

He wanted to ask what, but he wasn't sure if the time was right. Instead, he looked away from her, giving himself time to lighten his own mood, then looked back with a cheerful grin, "Well, how about we finish up here and then we can chat later." His word use didn't seem at all to be connected to their conversation and he had meant it that way.

She smiled, happy at the change of subject. She still wasn't sure if she was ready to talk about it yet. "Okay," she agreed. The room was almost finished now. She contemplated tracking down actual carpets and things from the time period to add to the room, wondering if it needed it. It already felt like she'd taken herself back into an Asian time machine. "Thanks for helping me out with all of this," she said, gesturing to the beautiful room.

Karissa was glad that her friends were back and she went to hug Rachel. "That didn't take as long as you thought it would," she remarked to Laurence.

"Guess what? I have another power now," Karissa whispered to Rachel as Laurence and Arianna set up the DDR mats. "Really? What is it?" she replied interestedly. "I get these premonitions - I had one of you and Laurence." "Doing what?" asked Rachel, alarmed. "You know. Fighting the assassins." Karissa rolled her eyes at what Rachel had thought she'd implied.
