The Architect mused to himself. "It's not the soldiers I'm worried about. It's the monster." He looked at the many scientists and engineers around them. They could probably build something as big as Salvation. They were fully capable, especially with his guidance. "I would hire mercenaries...but it's just Deus X. I know they don't stand a chance." The scientists seemed to be rather nervous. This was, after all, their test to see whether the machine really worked or not. The Architect reminded himself that he had to apologize to Akuma for keeping him so long. "Such a gigantic monster is unpredictable. Especially with its powers...who knows what it'll do next? But I have faith in my team."

Sati looked at the Architect. How quiet he was. What was he doing? Performing calculations in his head? Sati looked at the Architect's eyes. They seemed to be staring off into space, without aim or direction. "Probably thinking about something," thought the assistant. He turned back to the communications crystal. "The spies haven't brought any news yet, besides weather reports." But that feeling of doom began to seep into the eyes, minds, and hearts of the team. The end was near.

Ookami made his way up the road towards Yokohama. He paused on the road just in sight of the city and shifted his straw hat from his head to his back. The hilt of his katana stuck up over his right shoulder as a light breeze played with one end of his scarf. I think I'll sleep out here for now and enter tomorrow. He whispered to himself before slipping off the side of the road and heading for a dip that was hopefully dry enough to sleep in.

A quick feel of the bottom of the dip revealed a moist layer of ice that would easily eat through Ookami's clothes if he slept on it and chill him long before morning. Ookami sighed and stepping over the dip pulled his worn blanket from his pack and wrapping it about his shoulders folded his legs beneath him and began to drift into a restless state of sleep. He had not kept enough of the money from his last job to stay at an inn for an extended amount of time so it would be best to suffer outside until another job was secure. He had recieved a note from his father at the time of his last payment from a guild member. It told him that his father and the rest of his family approved of his diligance on the path he was set and that he showed honor by sending money to help the business. Ookami entered semiconciousness with that thought.

((Glad to be back, and yay for relative locations! wink ))

Zular hadn't said a word since they left the camp.
Without wanting to bother Krudesh, Zular decided that they should get as far from Yokohama as they could. The best route would be the most dangerous to the humans. That would be a path straight over the mountains and along the northern coast. No one would follow them, and they would make better time to Hokkaido.

"So where are we going?" Krudesh asked.

"Back to my tribe in northern Hokkaido. I think something?s going on that we don't want to be a part of unless were getting paid. The only problem seems to me is that I only know one side of the fight. I won't fight without knowing my enemy. I think my uncle might be able to help us."

Krudesh looked at the trees going up the side of the mountains of Honshu. A good defensive position at best, but difficult for any human to climb, even the elves would have some difficulty, but Krudesh smiled as his body warped into that of a 3000 lb. bear. He could climb the side of a mountain with ease.

As for Zular, well. That?s what wings are for. The cold weather on the mountain and the large evergreens would slow his flight, but that made the race all the more interesting.

The rules for the two were simple; first one to the top of the mountain was the winner. Winner gets bragging rights, and the loser has to buy the drinks. Suddenly it was very quite, and the two could hear the Ico rebel army gathering behind them.

On your mark, get set, and GO!

Zular and Krudesh began their terrific climb up the side of the mountains.

The arrow flew through the air with a perfect swiftness. The sound of a sickening splat, told the bowman he had hit his target. The tall man wondered closely, apprehensive at first as he sniffed the air. He looked at his kill and then removed his hood, his elven ears twitched and he turned abruptly. With a slow release of breath the man saw a bird take flight from a tree.

He moved lightly on his feet next to where his arrow had landed, it had struck a boar in the neck splattering blood all around the lifeless body.
Just as he was about to pick up his arrow he heard a faint clapping, within milliseconds his bow was strung with another arrow, aiming in the direction of the sound.

"Well done Josh we had trouble tracking you."

5 armoured ico rebel soldiers appeared from behind the the figure in the blue cloak.

"You have been gone for a while now, I hope you have recuperated enough to return.

The figures cloak wavered in the wind.

"I'm sorry for not telling you Hayabusa, but i am not fit for a general, I am a hunter at heart, i needed to get away from the encampment."

"That is fair enough, but the ico's are making advances, your bettalion need their leader."

Josh looked towards his friend

"ok, since you have found me the least I can do is return with you, besides, we wouldn't want to hang around here to long anyway, this is Ico territory and they seemed to haveheightened the frequency of their patrols, a consequence of the war no doubt."

Josh moved to his kill and dragged it behind him, then he moved in unison with the people that had come to find him. Their destination was the Ico rebel camp a few miles from Ico Rebels main fortress.

Ookami awoke slowly, his muscles were stiff and ached from the cold. His vision was blurry as he realized he had lost consciousness completely while intending to rough it outside. He forced his protesting arms under him and slowly pushed up to a sitting position. His head swam from hunger and he had to force his breathing into a slow and deep pattern. After several moments he reached into a belt pouch and removed a small piece of salted jerky. He let it just sit in his mouth at first despite the urge to chew it immediately. He saw his hat off to his left, it had rolled about five feet when he had fallen forward. He shook his head, his training should have left him more sensible about his own health. This was a mistake he would attempt to avoid in the future.

Several minutes later he stretched his legs out before him and bit into the jerky. The chewing helped remove his mind from the burning, pin pricks, of his legs waking up as blood flooded into them. He was lucky he had wrapped his feet well, this was no time for frost bite. After a bit longer and fortified by the jerky he slowly moved to collect his hat and stand slowly. Dizziness swept him at first but after several moments was dispelled. He scooped up his blanket and folded it slowly to ensure he did not push too hard too soon. After a moment of standing and stretching he walked slowly towards the entrance to the city. He would allow himself to use some of his funds for a room and food for the night. Tomorrow he would buy some rice and jerky, as well as a staff to walk with.

((lol Thanks Ferra, it's a nick name a friend gave me recently so I decided to use it. Well that and my other gaian account is one of the many Wolf's running around.))

It was late in the afternoon by the time Josh, Hayabusa and the 5 bodyguards entered the Ico rebel camp.
Josh, with the boar over his shoulder looked onwards, huge gatherings of soldiers were a frequent sight, the war was truley underway.
Men with sour looks on their faces sat to his left, the notion of an impending doom was strongly hinted by their superiors and fear was settling in, the only thing they had for reassurance was that something better would come from their death.
Josh and Hayabusa left the guards walking with them and strolled to a fairly quiet area of the camp.

"So... has HE left yet"

"If you are talking about Ashen Rahman ....no... he is still as alive as ever."

Josh Pulled the Valheru's sword from it's sheeth and threw it on the ground in front of him.

"I will destroy him though, but first i must rid myself of his weapon, any ideas."

Hayabusa stroked the small amount of stubble on his cheeks.

"Well, its either we bury it, or throw it of a very large cliff"

Josh smiled. If only it was that simple

The sounds of cheering filled the air and the two friends, turned to see Ico Rebels readying themselves.

((sorry for th eassenec again. Grade 12 is the BAIN upon my life!! Illumy ar eu still plotting to get Kyo?))

Kyo on his horse finally spotted the canyon. He didnt know where the hell Zersilos and banji had gone, or where they were, but he thought theyd eventually show up. iN the distance he could faintly see a cloud of dust on the horizon and knew the enemy forces were approaching. He ordered the troops to move at the double quick, and saw the detachemtn of archers move stealtily into position behind the rocks on th eheights, and knew it would not be long. He positioned his troops at the mouth of the canyon, in an attempt to lure them in and he crossed his fingers that it would work. The cavlary had beegan their long wide arc that would take them around the rear of the enemy. Where was Banji and Zersilos? He thought of Rin again before snappping back into reality, realising he would need all the concentration he could muster.

Josh let the boar on his shoulder drop as he picked up 'overlord', Hayabusa had already set off at a fast pace towards the rest of the sooldiers. As Josh appraoched the rampant hoarde. His keen elven ears pricked as picked up what a foreman was saying.
It was all a bunch of zealous whining, about how the Ico had done wrongs and the Ico rebels had to right them. Josh smiled as the crowd of soldiers erupted into a cheer and headed out of the entrance of the Ico Rebel camp.

So the wars taking an unexpected turn, who'd have thought the Ico rebels would go on the offensive.

Josh moved in with the regiments towards the back and wandered what onslaught would ensue.

Zular and Krudesh reached the northern part of Hokkaido, Zulars uncle lived alone, except for his dogs, in a small hut. The dogs started barking as Zular and Krudesh approached.

Zulars one armed uncle stepped outside. "Zular it's good to see you!" His uncle began.

Zular smiled, "You too uncle." Zular turned to Krudesh, "And this is my partner Krudesh."

Zulars' uncle grinned, "Hojimemoshite, Krudesh-san."

"Hojimemoshite," Krudesh replied with a smile.

"So, you boys are here about the Ico rebel movement."

"How did you know," Krudesh asked.

"I make the news of the world my business. I can't fight without my arm, but I can keep one step ahead of the game by learning all I can."

"How do you know so much?"

"Trade secret I'm afraid. This old dog still has a few tricks," Zulars’ uncle looked back at Zular, "He's bright, but he still has a lot to learn. Anyway the Ico rebels are moving against the Ico, I hear. I don't know what their motivation is, but I think this must be some opportunity for them. I dug my claws in as deep as I could, but the only thing I could come up with was that someone has come to Nihon that should not be here. Oni, as far I can tell."

Zular scratched his head, "But what's with the timing?"

"The only thing I can figure is that the must have allies or contacts on this side, that are letting them through. They should march in force, and be terribly destructive."

"But where will they be attacking?" Krudesh asked.

"The only way you could find that out is if you could find someone on the inside, an enemy of the Oni, or trick one of their allies."

The three went inside the house and discussed the past few days over ocha and biscuits.

Taishon slinked along the ledge, surveying the city below. There was a magic user near by, he could feel it, and he did not want to be revealed by one of their kind again. Deciding that a full belly was worth the trouble, he changed. Blue mist and black shadows swirled around his fox form, obscuring it. When it cleared, the young man reajusted his grip on his quarterstaff and began to walk down the slope.
Running a hand through his red hair, Taishon examined the scene below once more. Fastening the black cloak he appeared the image of the ranger he was. Seeing footprints and disterbed dirt along side the path, signs of roots being develed for, Tai hoped that there was someone in that place could tell him wear hard work was appreciated.
