Ihabia Don't worry, I won't forget all the people I stepped over to get to where I am today! No, I'm not going to be famous. Not yet anyway. I have no idea when this episode is going to air. They haven't filmed the part that I'm going to be in yet. Today was better than yesterday at least. Wasn't raining as much, and we didn't bother taking the steep muddy ravine down to the beach. We took the long way around, which may or may not have been shorter. I still go pretty dirty though. There was mud everywhere. Still is, because I forgot to have a shower. Not that I'm wearing the same clothes or anything, of course. I'm all sore though. There was a lot of shoveling today. A lot, a lot. Like, first we were digging random holes along the beach to figure out where this 200 million year old lake bed used to be. There's a line where the sandstone and mudstone are divided, and the dinosaur bones will be found along this line, apparently. So we were trying to find this line. That took awhile. Then when we found a good spot, we dug a huge trench, from the water, up to the cliff face. It was pretty long. Not super deep though. After that we dug some more holes. Then we decided we'd let a stream do the work for us, so we blocked off all these different paths so that the water would all flow into one channel. So that it would erode down to the layer of sandstone/mudstone. That took a lot of work. Then we were at the actual fossil site, and we were starting to dig that, but then we were at the end of the day. There's a lot of dirt. A huge amount. We're getting a small excavator to come in and remove as much as possible. Should save a lot of time. Man... that sounds so awesome. So what about getting dirty, baths always cure that. You get to see, IRL, bones from billions of years ago. For me, it's like, unimaginable. You're really lucky, you know that? You're not even a paleontologist and you get to dig them up anyways! =P I'd die for a job like yours. ): No matter how boring you think it is, it beats anything I could get around here. You don't have to deal with people (well hey, maybe the occasional lust-struck girl... =D) that are annoying and mad for no reason, and you get to do something totally cool. *Sigh* Kaede, youmakemesick. Just seeing the word "hungry" makes me want to... toss.

I don't know if I'd want to eat anything that's 220 million years old! Imagine the mold. Ew.
Yes yes, it sounds like an amazing job. But, you know, digging random holes in the rocky beach isn't all it's cracked up to be! Digging up the bones will be more fun though.

My new theory is that 2006 is the year beach people all turned into sissies. I went for a walk with family yesterday and I was all "Holy cow, what are you people? Sissies?"

I still don't know when the episode of the nature of things that involved this dig, and hence me, will air. I've heard though, that it might not be for a year or two.
And being on tv is no big deal. I've been on a couple of times already.
