Suboshi was not as skilled with chi as his brother, but he was unable to miss a distinct feeling coming from the envoy. It was a familiar feeling, in fact, he had felt it only last night during their encounter with Soi.

"Aniki," he whispered, "That was..."

Even though he was a bit weak from the lack of sleep, he was able to notice that feeling coming from the carriage. He paled out when he immediately recognized it to be similar from Soi, though stronger. That could only mean that was another seishi.

"Let's go. We'll cut through the field or something," he said after hearing his brother, not really wanting to meet up with another seishi. He turned around and started to walk off, hoping that his brother would follow.

"We should be arriving in the village soon...Have one of the assassins circle back and find whoeever it is we just passed...make sure he makes it to the village before we leave."

"I understand," Tomo acknowledged, "I will do so as soon as we reach the village."

They certainly had come across something worthwhile. He had mixed feelings about what had just passsed. If it was what they were both thinking, this could result in several scenarios, many of which Tomo predicted would involve less time with him and Nakago alone. He would have to stay on guard and be sure that no matter what, he did not screw up this time. With events such as these unfolding, he could not be sure of having many chances to prove himself to Nakago. Every action mattered.

Suboshi followed his brother quickly.

"Aniki," he said, still trying to be quiet, "That wasn't that Lightning Nee-chan, was it? That chi seemed way stronger, don't you think?"

It certainly was the most powerful chi he had ever sensed, though the list was rather small. He was sure that if he and his brother had to take this guy on, they stood a big chance of loosing. Badly. Amiboshi seemed eager to avoid such a scenario, and Suboshi did not blame him.

Amiboshi was relieved that his brother followed him, not arguing to stay there. He then looked over his shoulders, staring at the carriage once more as that disturbing feeling was still there. "It was," he whispered, nodding his head.

They were way over their head and Amiboshi knew this. That was exactly why he was nervous about them revealing that they were seishis. What if that was their enemy or someone even more powerful? With these thoughts in mind, his pace unconciously quicken, wanting to get out of there before it was too late.

Amiboshi looked over his shoulders and back at the army on the trail after hearing Suboshio's question. "Well, it looks like they are heading the same direction we are. I just hope it's not to the same village," Amiboshi answered, feeling a bit nervous. If that was the case, he figured they could just keep on traveling to another village, though they would have no idea how far that would be.

"The capital?" Miaka repeated. "Is that where the people who will know how to get me home live? Because if that's the case then I'm definitely ready to start moving! I'll just wash my face and clean up a bit and then... I'll..." her nose caught the smell of the food again, and all other thoughts disappeared from her mind as the great beast that was her stomach shouted for food. "Right after breakfast, I mean!"

She bolted into the kitchen and plopped herself down in one of the chairs, offering the adults her brightest and most polite "Ohayou gozaimasu!" before diving into the meal like a starving raccoon.

The sudden appearance of the Priestess was a shock to all...but a welcome one. They smiles and did their best to keep the table filled with food. The children poured in after. they all wanted their little bit of time with the priestess before she would leave their small village.

Yui's eyes stared over at the leader as he barked orders to the man restraining her. She had managed to finally get her coughs under control but one thing still puzzled her.Why was it that they all followed him? Was it out of respect? Out of fear? Her thoughts were soon shattered the moment she noticed the man she had managed to pull herself away from come stomping back in her direction with a rather angry look in his eyes. Yui's eyes completely widened as her whole body flinched when he grew closer. She turned her head head and instinctly closed her eyes, already embracing herself for the hit to come but nothing ever came. Fortunately for her, the leader, to her suprise intervined and stopped him. So at least she was right in theory. She felt complete relief go through her as the leader made the man back off her. That man, she could tell, was going to keep that grudge on her and if they didn't sale her to the woman and she got better than that was when the man would probably get even with her. Kouji couldn't possibly save her, they were just too outnumbered. She rose a brow while the two men whispered, trying her best to make out what they were saying in thus taking her lip reading into practice. When the whispering ended, Yui suspiciously watched the man head outside. Just what were...no...but than again...with these guys she wouldn't put it pass them. Yui still wanted to refuse the fact that the farmer and his wife would sale her off like this but if they did and the wife was still here, than that exactly wasn't a good thing. Bright side was, they were finally coming to an agreement and no blood has been shed but Yui prayed she was wrong about the fact the slave trader had gone off to search for the farmer's wife.

Soi gave a mock scowl. 60 copper taels wasn't so bad though she was surprised any of them could count so high. Beneath her cape she slipped the coins into a smaller pouch.

"Ugh, I hope you're worth it girl. There goes all my money," she grumbled the lie tossing him the pouch.

The slaver leader reached out to take the money, a satisfied look on his face, as the deal seemed to be going in his favor. He had already told the rambunctions member of the gang to gather the others and catch the woman and the firl outside, they would take the money, then take the girl back by force with greater numbers. They had whispered about it, unknowing that their prey could possibly interperet what they were discussing. He looked inside the pouch as if counting the coins, waiting long enough to make it seem as if he had taken a reasonably accurate count, the closing the pouch and sliding it in his tunic out of veiw, he nodded his head.

"Lets go..."

Weapons began to be sheatheed and the bandit holding Yui tossed her down back to the beddings she had been in.

"Pleasure doing business with you."

He said in a sinister tone, as they poured out of the house, ready to regroup with the rest of their band outside.

Genrou was tired and sore and bored. Where exactly were they taking him and why? What was this shogun's huge interest in a bandit of Konan? Was it just his tessen? Genrou scowled and ignored the blood trickling down his forehead as a wound reopened with the creasing of his forehead. 'I'll get my tessen back,' he vowed to himself, 'and I'll make sure blondie pays for this!' The ropes were loose and he could maybe rid himself of them but for the moment he was in too much pain and in addition to that he knew that despite his speed he might well be caught and even if he wasn't his tessen would be spirited away from him.

The bandit's thoughts turned once more to Kouji. Surely the blue haired bandit knew something was wrong by now, he was the smarter one after all! Even if he did though, what could he do? Kutou was a big country, he wouldn't even know where to start looking for Genrou and there would be no chance of helping him against the shogun's soldiers without the other bandits. No relying on his best friend and subordinate for aid was futile. Somehow Genrou was going to have to get himself out of this mess.

"But let's say they are," Suboshi speculated, "we could go to the village, lay low, and try to get a look at whoever has all that power. That way, we'll know what to look out for in the future."

He knew how bad an idea that must have sounded, but it made a lot of sense to him. If they could just get a quick peek, they could probably save themselves loads of worry in the future.

Yui wanted nothing more but to shrink back at the woman's comment. She felt a pang of guilt for being the cause of the woman no longer having any money because of her. From what she already saw, life for these people was harsh. Still, it gave the farmer's wife no right to sell her like this. It would have been more polite to just refuse her lodging for the night. Now wasn't the time to be bitter about that part, especially if she wasn't sure if that was really true or not. There was nothing more she could do but silently watch the two come upon an agreement and feeling an odd sickness to her stomach as the leader counted the coins. Greed....these men were full of it and it disgusted her the fact they would even go as far as saling her to get these strange pieces of currency. Her inner thoughts were soon broken as she suddenly felt her body being flung back into the bedding and a startled cry escaped her lips as she landed on her side. Her eyes widely stared up at the man that had released her before she diverted her attention over to the leader whose voice sent chills down her spine. Yui didn't dare move from her spot nor speak a word until the slave traders were all out of the house. Even as they walked out, Yui remained seated down, her body still trembling, half expecting them to come barging back in. Slowly, earlier's activities of the slave traders whispering to each other dawned on her. They had their money so they would leave the farmer's wife alone...right? No...in their eyes, the woman had cheated them out and needed to be taught a lesson. Running out to make sure they leave the farmer's wife alone would be reckless. Even if they did start trouble, there was nothing she could do about it, not in her condition and even if she was in good health than she would still be outnumbered by all of them. Besides, this complete stranger and Kouji risked their lives just to prevent her from becoming some slave. "The...the farmer's wife....she is in danger now.." Yui softly uttered out, unable to stop her body fom trembling after that close encounter of almost becoming a slave.

Soi kept a close eye on the slavers as they filed out. Even with the men gone she wasn't about to let her guard down, not until they were clear of the village by several miles. She walked towards Yui and knelt beside her hoping the girl was well enough to walk. She didn't have any visible damage so they just might scrape by. At the mention of the farmer's wife Soi remained emotionless.

"So what? It's her own fault for peddling sickly merchandise. She should know better than to expect an easy coin from slavers. Besides, what makes you think we're out of danger? That was too easy, they'll be back, and this time in greater numbers," she stated producing a metallic flask filled with home-brewed sake from beneath the folds of her robe, "here drink this, it'll stifle that cough of yours for a while."

After eyeing Yui's clothes Soi dusted her hands and got to her feet, "You broke the cardinal rule when traveling Kutou. Women never travel alone. But I'm wagering you're not from this world are you?"

The woman was right, it'd been too easy and there was every chance that the men would return. Also, though the farmer's wife had tried to sell Yui she didn't deserve to die at the hand of the bandits but trying to help her would be far too risky.

'Now what?' he wondered to himself as he eyed Yui with worry. "Are you alright?" he queried. 'Not from this world?' Well Yui clearly was foreign but from another world...was it possible? Could she be...? He shook his head and scratched the back of his head.
PostPosted: Sat Jul 15, 2006 4:36 pm

Yui couldn't help but stare up at Soi with a disbelief expression with the remark that was made. So what? So what? How could this woman who had just helped her act so coldly towards something like this?! "It doesn't matter! She still doesn't deserve such a fate! It's just not right! It's wrong! There has to be a way to help her. What about informing the local authorities about this?! Shouldn't they be here stopping this sort of thing?!", Yui immediately cried out in protest, her coughs starting up once more and she used her right hand to suppress the loudness of her frequent coughs. Sure Yui was hurt at the fact that the farmer's wife had sold her off like that but still, no one deserved something like that. She wanted to say much more but Soi had a point, the slave traders would probably be back after dealing with the woman or perhaps they were waiting outside right now and besides, she didn't think her throat could handle any long protest. Her eyes curiously stared at the metallic flask handed to her before shifting her gaze back up at Soi. She wanted to ask what it was but from the strong smell and appearance, it all pointed to sake.

"A...agrigato...and agrigato for helping me as well." Yui softly spoke out in a sincere tone as she stared up at the woman before taking in a small sip of the drink in which she had to refrain from spitting out. It burned....it intensly burned her throat and tasted awful but despite all that, Yui forced herself to swallow it whole, not at all enjoying the aftertaste it left her. Upon Kouji's question, the only thing she could muster out was a small nod as her facial expression remained scrunched up while the fluid traveled down her system. Even though this was her first time drinking sake, this was definately going to be her last time. "Hai...I am..." Yui somehow managed to utter out after experiencing her first taste in sake and tossed Kouji a faint, reassuring smile so he wouldn't worry so much. She knew she had worried him by acting sickier than she really was but it was just something that had to be done to help the slave traders see Soi's point.

"Cardinal rule?" Yui found herself blankly asking, as she turned her attention once again towards the woman. She wasn't even aware this place had any rules. The farmer hadn't told her anything about any rules and her eyes were quick to cast down at the spoken rule. It wasn't like she had a choice in the matter. She was brought into this place against her will and had no idea how to get back home. That was just plain common sense, back in her world, she would never go walking alone because of the dangers out there but wait....since when did she start believing all of this wasn't a dream or a hallucination after all? Maybe it was because if this was a dream than someone would have probably already woken her up from this nightmare before things got a bit too far. Soi's inquiry certiainly caught Yui off guard and Yui couldn't help but stare up at the woman with startled eyes. Either this woman was very observant or she was being teased at the moment but the woman seemed very serisous about the question. Ah but maybe girls dropping into this world were very common and this woman knew a way that she could go back home but if it were common than Kouji would have known what a light bulb was. "Does this mean you've met someone else from another world?" Yui suddenly asked Soi with much hope in her tone. If that was the case than there had to be a way back home and she would feel much better to know someone from her own world was here as well. At least like that, she wouldn't be too homesick.

Soi was distracted by a flickering power in the horizon. Could it be...? Yui's voice cut into her thoughts. It was obvious she wasn't happy about the farmer's predicament. The mention of local authorities made Soi want to laugh.

"'Local Authorities'? Not if we're lucky. They'd be reinforcing the slaver trade rather than dispersing it. You're in Kutou, and Kutou isn't a nice place," she told her in a kind tone. Despite Yui's frantic and impulsive actions, the seishi felt kind of sorry for the girl.

"Girls come from other worlds only at very special times. There is a legend that when our country is in trouble one of these girls will appear and summon the beast god Seiryu and he will give that girl anything her heart desires. In so doing, our kingdom will be saved," she explained, "I've been searching for you. My name is Soi and I am bound by celestial law to protect you."
PostPosted: Sat Jul 15, 2006 7:24 pm

Once again, Yui threw Soi a rather dubious expression. Why would the local authorities do such a thing when their job was to protect the innocent?! Just what kind of world had she stumbled upon? Was it like this everywhere or just Kutou? It seemed strange that this woman could appear cold one minute and warm the next. Yui remained silent while the woman continued to answer all of her questions one at a time. Much of what the woman said seemed hard to believe and Yui couldn't help but give Soi a rather strange look when the woman began talking of such nonsense such as beast gods, kingdoms, and wishes?! Had she stumbled upon some kind of delusional fairytale or what?! Oh and to top off that whole bizarre story, the woman was now claiming to have been searching for her for some time just to become her personal body guard. Ok, so now she knew this woman was pulling her leg. Oh, this was silly of her to go along with this whole shirrade. Just what was this woman trying to achieve?! Even if this story was true, she wasn't fit to save this whole kingdom, not when she couldn't even save herself. "Gomen...I appreciate your help and all but I find your story hard to believe. Even you said so yourself it is only a legend. I'm just your average highschool girl trying to pass her exams. Gomen for disappointing you but if I couldn't even save myself from being sold off by those slave traders than what makes you think I can save, let alone a whole kingdom?" Yui inquired as she stood up and made her way towards the door despite her momentarily wave of dizziness. "It was nice meeting both of you but I won't be able to live with myself if I idly stand by while there is someone out there who needs help. There is a chance that the local authorities are what as you described but I highly doubt all of them are like that. Their job is to protect people not bring harm." Yui softly spoke, her back facing them while her hand remained rested on the door knob before she halfway turned and gave her two newly made friends a warm smile than proceeded to walk out with much caution. There was still a chance that the slave traders could be hiding in the bushes or something, just waiting for someone to step out but Yui intended on at least finding some sort of authority nearby that could help that woman and she prayed she wouldn't be too late.

Tomo glanced at Nakago while his musings continued. As usual, he could not help but think of how beautiful the shogun was; his handsome face, piercing eyes, and exotic light hair. Combined with his military prowess and powers as seishi, it was no wonder he had risen to such an esteemed rank. Tomo had been lucky enough to participate in several of the events that led to Nakago's ascension. He smirked thinking about it, recalling the promise he had made, and everything he was willing to do to fulfill it.

"Nakago-sama," he said, "I thought perhaps my troupe might perform Lord of Dreams of Nothing for the Emperor when we return. Have you heard of it?"
