The Seraphim

PostPosted: Thu Jan 06, 2005 9:55 pm

*The Seraphim smiles and nods, pleased*

Well, its fairly obvious why Tavin chose to bring YOU to The Brink. I highly suggest that while you recoup, you think long and hard about what I've said. Because in the end, you'll have to fight for either him, or yourself. Think of you and the people you love. Because if YOU can be hurt this easily, just think of what can happen to.....

*The last thing Luke sees is The Seraphim's foot coming down on his face, then everything goes black*

*The Seraphim taps his fingers lightly on his arm as he looks intently at the person slouched in the chair across from him*

Barrrrd. Wake up, Mister Awenson.

*Bard's eyes snap open with a start. Where is he? He remembers.. Ainsford... with Maggie and Will... and he had needed to go. The pain was too much... and... then... did he pass out?*

*He looks around, not completely understanding where he is. His eyes find the Seraphim. Hurriedly he leaps to his feet*

Maggie! Take Will, and run!

*he leaps at the Seraphim, intending to grapple him to the ground, to buy some time at least*

*The Seraphim sidesteps, and trips Bard, sending him to the floor*

They aren't here, Bard. Its just you and me. I want to talk, and it would be in your best intrest to listen. You know well what I can do. But I didn't bring you here to hurt you, so please... Sit and lets talk.

*Bard rises quickly off the ground. He looks about. It's true... no Maggie.. no Will... perhaps they aren't here. Or perhaps the Seraphim is lying to him. It matters little. He weighs his options. He could fight... and probably get himself killed. He could try to blink back into the brink... but that will leave him vulnerable to an attack, and the Seraphim will no doubt try to stop him. He can't let his guard down. He can't fall into a trap*

*Scratch that. He's already in the trap. He might as well make turn this crisis into an opportunity. He turns his attention to Seraphim, projecting as much calm and cool as he can muster*

I wasn't aware you were capable of anything but mindless brutality. *he shrugs*

*He paces back to his seat* I'm here. So, I suppose I might as well listen.

*he slowly sinks into his seat* So...? Talk.

*Seraphim smiles and sits down*

Tavin is taking you for a ride, you know. You must know that he's been kicked out of Heaven. That he's a criminal. What do you think of him?

Tavin? Criminal...

*Bard ponders for a moment*

You know what they say. 'Terrorist' and 'freedom fighter' are two words for the same person. Their actions are the same. What differs is who writes the history.

*he rises, clenching his hands behind his back, pacing absently.

I suppose you already know that I've never quite trusted Tavin. At first, it was just a game. Just a curiosity. Then, when the fighting started, he expected us to rally to his side and fight for him.

I don't know what he's dragged us into, and frankly, I don't care. I'm not a hero. I'm a novelist. So whether he's a criminal or a rebel, I don't care. I don't trust him any more than... *he smiles* any more than I trust you. Fair enough?

Semantics, of course. Heaven. Hell. It all depends on who you side with. Frankly, I'm a bit partial to Heaven, myself... But then again.. i would be, wouldn't I?

*Seraphim chuckles to himself*

Since we are getting to the heart of the matter, I'll just lay it out for you. The Brink of Time belongs to Heaven. When Tavin was exiled, he took it with him. We want it back. He wants to screw around. Both with it, and with us.
You ask what this has to do with you, right? Well, Tavin picked you out for a reason. I don't know why... But he did. Likely, he thinks that your developing relationship with *ahem* certain other members will make you more likely to help him with his plans. Well, this will be rather hard on you. You and Maggie will never be together. You can't stay in her time, and she can't stay in yours. Tragic? Yes. But its really just that simple.
The decision that you have to make is whether or not you interfere with me. In scenario one, Heaven gets back The Brink, and everyone who isn't killed because they did something ******** STUPID like trying to fight us is sent back to their lives at the moment that they were first taken by The Brink, and carry on with their happy lives, sans any memory of Tavin OR The Brink of Time. Scenario two is where we kill all of you, and there IS no happy rest of your life.
I'm not asking you to spy. I can get someone else to do that easily enough. I'm just asking you stay the hell out of my way. Do that and just perhaps you'll be able to meet the new love of your life later on.

Well? What do you think?

*Bard is silent for some time, pondering. He paces, watching his feet, until he finally stops and turns back to Seraphim*

It's not as though I have much of a choice do I? Amnesia or Death. Heaven doesn't mess around do they?

Hasn't anyone told Heaven that if they want to win converts, they need to sweeten the deal?
PostPosted: Fri Feb 04, 2005 6:51 pm

*Seraphim shakes his head and gets up, slowly walking away*

As I'm rather certain that you've already ascertained, my particular job in Heaven's ranks is not that of converting people to faith.

*Seraphim turns back and looks at Bard, grinning*

Well, I certainly am glad that we had this talk. I would impress upon you the importance of what I've said, though. Just keep in mind that when I do attack, that I won't be stopping to give anyone second chances on where they stand, or who they stand with.

Goodbye.

*With that, Bard swiftly fades away*

*Luana walks around barefoot with a cell phone to her ear.* I keep telling you, Meg. Jay and I are so over...

*She looks around. Everything is gray, and her phone is dead. She sees the Seraphim and the chairs. Wait, this isn't the Brink... She closes her phone and slides it into her pocket. What's going on?*

*The Seraphim motions to the seat*

Please, Luana, sit. We have to talk. Can I get you a drink?
PostPosted: Sun Apr 10, 2005 9:10 pm

I'm not thirsty, thank you. *Luana approaches cautiously and sits.* How do you know my name? I don't think we've met.

*The Seraphim closes his eyes and huge, white, feathered wings sprout from his back*

Oh, you don't know me... But I've known you since before you were born. Angels have a way with such things.
