(I'm probably going to be repeating what most people have said but ah well.)
Simply put every person instinctively is a pervert it's a fairly rare thing for all guys who think "Lesbians are hot" of which I am guilty, to become fans of jsut the girl romance. But at the same time many of those people just like to watch porn in general. I think maybe a small percentage of yuri fan boys become interested in the plots but as there hard to get your hands on that makes sense.
Ie the only yuri I can buy is either online or at a con and that was gone in a day. Guys liking yaoi is fine I used to not like it but being friends with some or the more reasonable yaoi fans, gave m the chance to see some of it. Although if you don't like being taunted by people I wouldn't mention liking yaoi around those kinds of people. If your like me and get bullied a lot I wouldn't mention it. (I think I've gone of track here XD.)

Love is beautiful in all forms. One must merely tolerate the Philistines who cannot understand that and hope that they learn. It's not about the sexuality; if it was, it would be hentai, and everyone needs a little bit of that sometimes (No excuses). It's about passion, compassion, and the sheer wonder that is love, and the feeling one acquires when lost in its infinite intricacies. It is the risk of breaking hearts, of getting hurt, of hurting. It is the devotion, and the faith in each other. It is an understanding beyond words, beyond gender. To those who are incapable of realizing that, I feel great sorrow and pity. To not know what love is is to not love. You are not wrong to love yuri... *begins to sniffle* You are far more right than a great many people...

vEnom_2008 I have always wondered this since I was 10 years old. Yes I know 10 years old was the age were I declared myself an anime fan and a proud Yuri fan. Thought my first experience with Yuri was at age 6 when watching the Cartoon Network syndication of Sailor Moon. Anyways back to the present day, now I'm 13, I have matured and seen some Hentai. But still Yuri is my passion in anime I just love it! But something really bothers me, it seems that Yaoi and Yuri has been having more girl fans than guy ones. And if I say I'm a Yaoi fan (Which I like but I'm not a fan) they call me gay, and if I say I'm a Yuri fan (Which I am!) they call me a pervert. Which is my main problem because some Yuri guilds in here don't let guys join like Final Fantasy Yuri Guild which doesn't let guys join.
Well my reason for posting was to see: What do you girls think about boys that are Yuri fans or Yaoi fans? And, why do some girls don't allow guys joining a Yuri guild? I don't know, I just think that they don't trust them much. My brother also was interesting in Yuri, hentai and other mature when he was 10 also. surprised

kageling OniYouji- Hahaha love the last sentence. Actually, Gravitation was okay but I really disliked the Yuki/Shuichi pairing. I think Yuki's a pretty crap boyfriend (I'd hella dump him), so I didn't enjoy those two as much. There are some excellent shounen-ai/yaoi works out there, though. I've been impressed many more times than with yuri, unfortunately enough.
Then, would you mind reccomending one to me or something?

I got into yuri when I was about 12, and I've loved it ever since, and if a guy loves yuri then whats so wrong with that? It's sad to hear that one can be jugded just from watching something, I also too like yaoi. And for me to be just passed off as a mindless over obsessing fan girl is just sad because if one can watch or read a manga and enjoy the story as well as the sexiness of it then they can be considerd a fan in my eyes. ^_^ And if a guy likes yaoi that doesn't Necessarily mean he's gay. He just may like watching it just like some girls may watch yuri.

Hmm...most of my favorite yaoi works...are pieces that I haven't read in a good long while. I am way, way behind on guy-on-guy material in general (I must be getting gayer).
But, I remember loving Kaori Yuki's "Boys Next Door". It's very dark and kind of freaky (kind of her style, I guess) but it was a pretty good piece.
Aah, I'm sorry, I'm drawing a lot of blanks right now and I can hardly remember any of the yaoi I've read before. I know I've been much more impressed with yaoi works than yuri in general, but...I'll let you know when I think of or encounter more, okay? XD

Your situation kinda sounds like mine. I'm a straight (at least I think) girl who likes yuri (been into yuri since I was 12, I'm 13 now). I get called ect. ect. Though when I say I like yaoi I suddently become a perv. Ugh.... love is love I don't see what people don't understand in that. As for your girlfriend I don't see why shes so mad.

vEnom_2008 Well my reason for posting was to see: What do you girls think about boys that are Yuri fans or Yaoi fans? And, why do some girls don't allow guys joining a Yuri guild? First of all, on the paragraph I removed to save space, let me just make one minor note. Not saying anything bad or good about it, but I'm amazed at how young you were with your first yuri experience. I was... probably 13 with mine (mine was an IRL - I realized the leader at my summer camp and our creative writing teacher were romantic partners).
Anyway, onto business! First of all, that whole guild thing is totally discrimination and it's really not fair. I feel bad for you. Really. Because you know for every one guy like you out there who is admittedly a guy and trying to gain entry, there's gotta be at least one more who either creates a female mule or says "Oh... um... I'm a girl with a male avi..." They can't really say "no men" because the truth of the matter is that that 12-year-old grade school girl they allowed to join last week may actually be a 56-year-old businessman. Nobody really knows anything about anybody on the internet.
On the second question (which was actually the first; I like working backwards), I have to admit that my instantaneous reaction to a guy who likes yaoi used to be "Oh he MUST be gay" but then I realized that was a very unfair assumption because I'm a straight girl who likes yuri and I've got straight guy friends who'll watch yaoi or shounen-ai. So I can see where people are coming from with assumptions like that because I used to be there myself, but I know it's an unfair assumption to make. As for the yuri part of it, before becoming a fan of yaoi and yuri, I used to feel kind of uncomfortable with guys who liked yuri. However, I have absolutely no problem with them now. Some of them seem a bit creeped out by me (My friend from college actually commented while watching me play DOA once "You make more references to lesbianism while playing this game than any of the guys I know - even ME. That's pretty bad.") but we seem to get along pretty well otherwise. I mean, there's really nothing wrong with anybody - guy or girl; straight gay or bi - liking yuri or yaoi.
PS: ninja This is why I never talk in this guild. If I wrote even semi-regularly, the posts I wrote would eat up all the time I use for schoolwork. Lol.

I'm a guy and a fan of both yaoi and yuri.
Personally, i prefer yaoi as it seems to have better art...but maybe not!

If girls can drool over cute little boys getting date-raped by older men, then it shouldn't be unacceptable for guys not to like yuri.
Girls have it easy, they're not considered perverted, so it's fine if they like yaoi or yuri.
I think, also, yaoi has a larger fan base, and it's easier to go to a book store and buy a yaoi manga. But most people associate yuri with hentai, and it isn't published as often as yaoi, so it's less socially acceptable for anyone to like yuri. Girls are allowed to boast how much they love yaoi, but if a girl likes yuri, she's a lesbian, and if it's a guy, he's a pervert. :S
I think it's hard for everybody to be an open yuri fan.
In short, no, I don't see what's wrong with guys being yuri fans.
