Hermant sighed, sounding almost dissapointed. "Some people can never relax." He smiled sharply. "And you're not the only one who chooses to miss their target Miss Renna." He moved past her and removed a thin needle from the wall, just level with her throat. He lightly brushed the line of raised skin across the side of her throat. "You shouldn't underestimate me either Miss Renna." He smiled.

Rennara's lips curled in disgust at the puppetmaster's gentle touch. "Keep your hands off me you monster."

Hermant made a mock surprised face. "I'm offended Miss Renna. I am no monster. I am not the one that drains people of their life force. I am not the one that brings pain and misery." A harsh tone crept into his voice. "I am not that one that tries to annhilate an entire race. I am not the one that orders the deaths of so many innocents merely because of their affliations! No, I am not the moster here Miss Renna. I leave that up to those you support and work for. Your mother took part in the slaughter Miss Renna. She destroyed towns full of my people. She killed them in the streets, then killed herself." He curled his tiny hand into a fist. "She would have made such an excellent puppet, our perfect revenge. But instead, her asssitant in our slaughter robbed us of that pleasure." He turned to face Renna. "Do you know who that was Miss Renna? The one who ultimately robbed us of our vendetta?" His voice dropped until it was no louder than a whisper. "Izuma." He spat the word like it was poison. "He burned her body, scattering the ashes far and wide. Even I cannot rebuild a body from ashes Miss Renna. After burning her, he continued to burn, and burn, and burn!" His voice rose sharply on the last burn. "Now, I am the last of my kind, just as you are the last of yours. Know one thing Miss Renna. After I kill Izuma, I wil kill you, but if you get in my way," he smiled, returning to his normal vicious but calm state. "I'll just have to kill you first."

"I .... am not... my mother." Rennara hissed. "I may be a Shadowbane... but I can assure you that I have never once taken a life without just cause. I do not slaughter others only for what they are.. " Renna squeezed her hands into fists. Her eyes seemed to darken and spark at the same time. Anger swirreled around her mind like a cloud of angry hornets. This was the man who had desecrated her brother's remains, wo had used him and caused him so much pain. This was the man who forced her away from the man she loved and her home just as things could have started going right.... This was the man who dared to label her her mother's child. Midnight flames rose up around her, sizzling causeing her hair and clothing to float eerily as though she were underwater. Without the inner light to counter it, the darkness overwhelmed the shadows. The darkness engulfed the entire room in a terrifying display. "Am I the one so perverted by power that I would desecrate the remains of another living being? I can assure you sir, that you are indeed the monster here."

A smug and gleeful smile broke out across Hermant's face. "Such anger always brings out the beast doesn't it Miss Renna?" Since her eyes were still blind, an image of what Hermant saw was cast into her mind; Renna looking as frightening as any moster. "I have not yet mastered the ability, but I trust you see what you truly are right now. Miss Renna, you are your mother's child, more than you may ever wish to admit." Another image floated up alongside the image of Renna. It showed a woman with violet eyes much in the same state, her long hair blowing in the created gale. "Now do you see? Do you see how you are the same as she was?" Hermant's smile grew so large it looked as though it was about to drop off his face, his sharp teeth glinting in the darkness, creating their own light, the only visible part of him besides his fire like eyes. "She used darkness too Renna. She saw it as the ultimate power to fight us. And do you know how she countered the light?" Hermant reached into the puch at his side, producing a shrouded orb. 'I'm sure you can figure it out." He laughed.

"You fiend! Did I make myself like this? Do you think I didn't know what would happen when you did what you did? Why do you think I resisted?! The darkness is my only defense now... I wouldn't use it without reason." Tha flames cast themselves into a protective circle around her. "You may take your twisted truths and tell them to someone who may be more easily manipulated. I will not be a player in your demented masquerade. Leave me you forked tongued demon." She spoke through clenched teeth.

Hermant gave a mocking smile, bowing low. "As you wish Miss Renna." He straightened looking straight into her blind eyes. "Just be sure to watch your back once you get back to full strength. I'll be aiming at it." At his words, several needles flew from his hand embedding themselves into the wall, spelling out a chilling sentence.
'You can deny it all you like, but inside, you're just like her.'
Hermant gave an offhanded salute and left, locking the door behind him.

As soon as the lock clicked, Renna dropped to the ground letting her defenses fall. Before loosing conciousness, she whispered Crow's name.
