Dyanel shook her head.

"Nothing really," she answered.

Cheebs looked out from behind Dyanel's neck.

"Cole Ethren... oh I remember now! He's the one you traveled with!" CHeebs exclaimed rising into the air as his wings flapped with excitement.

Dyanel looked up at him and shook her head.

"I'm sorry the keros is a bit slow right now," Dyanel joked.

Cheebs looked back and forth between the two and gave a quick smirk to himself.

"I'm not so slow at seeing the awkward distance between two supposedly very close friends," Cheebs declared crossing his arms and sitting on air.

At Kero's words, Cole lifted and eyebrow and looked down at himself sitting at his desk. Distance? What distance. Now Cole was a bit confused and looked at Kero curiously.

((You know how many times I've clicked on that damn soul thing?? sweatdrop ))

Dyanel looked at Cheebs and glared.

"Don't listen to Cheebs. He's only 200 and still doesn't know right from wrong," Dyanel remarked.

"HEY! I do too, what I don't see as right is that you two are standing at nearly opposite sides of the rooms which is very odd to see from my view since you two have been friends longer than I have been around." he shouted.

He huffed and crossed his arms again looking away from Dyanel.

Cole looked back to his book momentarily and turned back several pages and stopped on a specific page and began to read some of his writing...

"And as my travels leds me onwards, I stumbled across, or more accurately, she stumbled up me, a small child. She looked no more then the age of four, five at the oldest... that was when Cole Ethren met Dyane Yona Amaya Nitera Ethena Lona, more commonly know as Dyanel... the little one.... Do you remember that day Dy? All those years ago? Who would've thought that the two of us would be standing here today? By all accounts both you and I should've died ages ago and yet we keep on living... you know something, I think we'll continue to live and never know the embrace of death. That is our fate Dyanel, or at least, that's what it seems like."

Cole paused and looked over at Keros. He was a rather odd little creature but perhaps he was right. For two who claim to be close friends, Cole and Dyanel do tend to keep each other at a distance...

"Keros... what would you have Dyanel and I do? Is our standing so far from each other really so strange? We've been through much together... some pleasent and others not so pleasent. If me memory serves me, we were once very close... however... that time has come and gone..."

Cole rested his head on his hand and let his eyes roam over the library before landing up Dyanel. She looked exactly the same way as she had for the years Cole has known her... what was it that Keros sees that upsets him so?

Cheebs looked at Cole carefully and flapped over toward him. He leaned into Cole and very quietly so that only Cole could hear he stated.

"Because sharing the best and worst of times are what bring people together. Not just as friends, but more than that. I don't know what you call it, but it feels like it's there to me," Cheebs said looking back at Dyanel.

Dyanel felt like she was useless and sighed.

"You two chat, I'm heading to the kitchen," she said disappearing.

With a sigh Cole shook his head and looked at Cheeb. The creature was young and inexperienced in the ways of the world. It brought a small smile to Cole's lips at how naive Cheeb was.

"Cheeb, Dyanel and I have had a lot of history together. We've been through good and bad times. Seen people we both care about pass away. And yet, through it all, Dyanel still keeps a barrier between us. She is a strong woman who does not like admitting she needs help. I've seen this time and time again. Perhaps at one time you could say Dyanel and I were closer then just friends, but those days are gone my little friend. Never to return again."

(Aha! Finally at the same time. Didn't go to school (duh) Cheebs will be in orange ^.^))

Cheebs looked at Cole and sighed a bit. He flopped down on Cole's head thinking a bit.

Maybe Dyanel's not listening to what she really feels. I mean, what she could feel is for you, but she doesn't admit to things very much. Take this pagoda, she wouldn't have came back so many times she's left if something wasn't bringing her back. I should know, I was liability with her mother to keep her coming back to Shadicia, but now that she's dead, I can actually be with Dyanel. You and Dyanel share a lot, but I don't think neither of you have closed that part of the book, he remarked hopping down to Cole's writings and flipping a few pages.

His eyes moved like he was reading, his tail accidently dipping into the inkwell. He looked at his tail and sighed, scrunching his nose a bit.

Cole watched Cheebs for a bit as the small creature read his book. For something so young, Cheebs had quite a sharp mind. Cole pulled a small cloth from his pocket and wiped the ink off of Cheebs' tail.

"You've sparked my curiosity Cheebs, what do you mean Dyanel and I have not closed that part of the book?"

Cole's eyes looked at where Cheebs was in the book and recognized the entiry where Cole wrote about his first wife, the elven princess...

Cheebs turned to face Cole and sat on the book pages. He thought for a moment on what he was really trying to say. He stood on his hind legs and walked over to turn a page. He read it, then turned the page again. He sat down thinking.

Well, when you met Dyanel, she wasn't looking for anyone, but someone seemed to find her, well in your case run into her. There has to be more of a reason than just this pagoda and the battles you fought together. I know I'm small, and still a baby, but when you're born into the world of Spirit Keepers, which automatically gives you a way to see things, you learn that things always mean more than they should. I've also learned that what we know can actually blind us from the truth. You and Dyanel know you're just friends, but in truth, you should be so much more.

He said all of this with his tone wise beyond his years. He didn't seem like he was still a child, but an adult. When he finished he flipped back on his four paws, turning the pages again to continue reading.

A small smile crossed Cole's lips as he looked at the small creature that sat upon his book. For something small and young, Cheebs had a good heart and quite a bit of wisdom but he lacked knowledge.

"What you speak is the truth little Cheebs. Dyanel and I, by all accounts should be more then just friends and yet we are not. Why do you suppose that is? We are not meant to be together. At one point in our long lives we did share a moment, but those days are gone with the passage of time. We may share similar fates to live on forever and true, we may go on alone. Yet for now, within these walls, we have our friendship and the friendship of the others to carr us on. We are not alone for now..."

Cole looked down at Cheebs and gently patted his head. This small creature cared a great deal for Dyanel, that Cole knew for sure. Yet, his heart may be in the wrong place.

Cheebs' fur raised a bit as Cole touched him. As Dyanel had mentioned, keros didn't have a liking for incubuses. Not even for other demons really. Dyanel was just his mother by accounts of the fact that he was the first thing he had seen when he was a baby. He shook the feeling off turning the page again to read. From the pages he looked up at Cole again.

What if you and Dyanel were to have another moment?

He asked this with deep thought in the question. He knew a possible answer, since Cole didn't want things to happen, but he liked to favor the what if scenarios, because with time and destiny sometimes, there were things you just weren't suppose to know until they happened.

Cole removed his hand from Cheebs when the small creature tensed from his touch. Looking down at Cheebs, Cole lifted an eye brow...

"What kind of moment? Do you speak of a moment shared by two lovers? If that is what you speak of, then I have to say that can no longer happen. In my eyes, Dyanel is no longer a potential lover, only a member of my family, which means I do care for her, but no longer in the sense of a lover. I may be a lowly incubus... one of the lower rank demons, but I know I am not the man destined for Dyanel..."

Leaning back in his chair, Cole gazed around the library. The library still looked the same as it always did. What was it that Dyanel saw that he does not?

Cheebs padded away from the book and jumped onto the top of a low shelf. His paws made a small pat sound as he scrried over to a different shelf with older tomes on it. He Struggled to pull one out, but with the help of his wings he was able to. He filled through many pages of the tome reading carefully. He looked up from the text and flew over to Cole with it in his front paws. He put the book in front of Cole pointing at lines.

This thing says she chooses who her lover will be. It never says anything about who's she's destined with, and if you haven't noticed by now, all of Dyanel's life that is written in this book has come true. Even her retiring from the Spirit Keepers. It was said one time, that it was like a future Dyanel came back and wrote this all down. Giving our Dyanel the right path to follow instead of the one future Dyanel had lived. Even in the beginning of this text it mentions. "Throughout my centuries of living, I lay this story down to you of a fate that should be lived allowing my time to pass" then the story begins.

Cheebs remarked feeling like Cole had never read this book. He knew Dyanel had, no matter how hard she tried to go against it, she always wound up right in the spot she left off. A thing Dyanel was coming to hate, but also starting to love. By what he knew, she never went any farther, because she'd always get mad when she found out she did something that had already been written. Cheebs sighed and took the tome back in its place. He stared out of the window then back at Cole.

All I want to know is what you would do if she would ever choose you?

Cheebs stated this last statement without looking back. He kind of hated to be talking about Dyanel with someone he barely knew, but the tension and that she had standing there was enough to make himself queasy. He sighed and turned to look at Cole.

It's all right, I'm just a little creature worried about things I shouldn't. I'll leave you to your writing.

He looked around trying to figure out where the door was. He spotted it and flew toward it. His little paws managed to turn the knob and he lift quickly fluttering down the hall toward the stairs. He sat down on the railing, until he felt himself slidinging down and being free for a while in his life.

After Cheebs had left, Cole sigh and stood up from his desk and walked over to the book Cheebs had picked up. Flipping through the pages, Cole shook his head then placed the book back and started to walk around the library. The book did detail Dyanel's life and what Cheebs said was true, it looked like someone had been reading the book. However, Cole had stopped believing that a person's life was written in stone. Every creature had free will and did what they viewed as best for their life. If Dyanel wanted to follow the book of her life and not divert from it, then that was her choice. Needing some fresh air, Cole decided to leave the library and head to the garden. Silently, Cole vanished in a puff of black smoke.

Saki wondered around the massive library, wondering where the strange girl with the bunny ears had gone. SHe found the section labelled gardening, and smiling, pulled open a book on herbs. Deciding this was not worth it, she looked casually around for another book on flowers."Lets see...." she said, reeaching up to grab a book on hibiscus flowers.
