Purple_Roxy Sikuyi-chan losing virginity doesn't make a person grown >.< in fact I think the ability to decide to wait for the proper time makes one a more mature person then those that rush into it as soon as they hit puberty. I wish we had more self control in our teens these days >.< it's sickening to see that even middle schoolers go off and have sex then they have a child they can't handle. the world is infested with crazed immature teens that leads to teen pregnancy. No way man, that like, AMAZING that you're still a virgin in today's society. I'm reallyl happy that you can stand the peer pressure... and even from your mom? That's pretty terrible. Maybe you should talk to her and tell her "OKAY mommy, I'm going to be mature and not get a girl pregnant. >;BAnd I don't care if you want me to ruin my life with sex 'cause I'm not going to."
OKAY SO I'M SORT OF HAVING THIS SUGAR HIGH BUT UH YEAH. I think that's great.

The school district I went to was amongst the worst in the state for teen pregnancies. Added to that, I'd been dating the same boy for five years total (We broke up freshman year, ended up back together) and never slept together.
At some point in my senior physics class, the subject of sex came up amongst me and my group for that particular project- which consisted of a pregnant girl, a known whore, and one of the few guys that was more or less indifferent to the whole thing.
It ultimately happened that they started talking about their latest experience, and it came to me to answer what I'd been up to sexually- I said I was a virgin, and they just kind of stared at me for a while.
I think that they thought it was strange, but they ultimately congratulated me for that. I never got harassed by anyone in my physics class- I think they sort of admired me in a way.
The only person who ever made me feel strange about it was a guy I worked with at my first job out of high school. This guy was the kind of guy who, y'know, a woman shouldn't be alone with? Anyway... He got to talking to me one day, and asked if I smoked. I said no, so he started asking if I did drugs or drank beer.
I answered no to all of that, and then as a joke, he said I was probably a virgin to. When I said that yes, I was, he said that we'd have to fix that.
He proceded to bother me about it for the next several weeks. I calmly explained that I had a boyfriend, and he said that fun on the side was alright. I explained that I wasn't interested, he didn't listen.
I ended up getting him fired for sexual harassment.

Never happened to me, but I try to avoid talking about those subjects...I'm not embarassed or ashamed, I just don't like talking about that kind of stuff.
Anyways, I'm guessing it's because of that ancient ideal of "Becoming a man!" You know, you ain't a man till you've split a cherry, and somehow directing that into the belief that if you haven't done so you're also immature.
Anyways, just tell them to mind their own business. Say something like, "I'm both, but neither effects the other. Get over yourself because you're just waisting air."

I seriously don't think that people should be pressuring a 16 year old into sex, or anyone for that matter. It's sad when people chose to have sex in High School. It's just not right in my opinion.
I'm 14, and I'm pretty sure at least a handful of girls in my school have had sex. I know one girl that had to get an abortion, in the 6th grade.
You're not immature. Waiting to have sex, in my opinion, is smart. It's none of thier business if you're a virgin or not. Don't let them get you down. As long as you do what you think is right, you're anything but immature.

One of the things that's utterly stupid about this is because your mom was saying you needed to have sex?
What the heck? I mean I thought parents would love to see their son/daughter be abstinent.
Honestly nobody has said things like that to my face.
Everyone thinks it's cute and admires me for it. O.O
I think it's partially double standard.
I mean for guys, they're called "losers" if they don't have sex, but girls, though it can be the same situation, aren't.
Same thing goes for the subject of Players and Whores.
A girl is a whore if she sleeps with a lot of guys, but a guy is praised. It's so stupid. Oii.

I think jumping into sex is even more immature. I think sex is a big step and one needs to be ready for that. You can't just rush into it. Abstaining from ex because you're not ready is a very, very mature thing to do, in my opinion.
I know what you mean about your mom too. When I left for college she told me that "if I met a boy I liked, we could get my on birth control." She then told me the same thing when I told her I was dating someone. I'm on birth control now for hormonal and cramp related reasons, but she reminds me that I should use other forms of contraception whenever I decide to have sex. I actually appreciate her open honesty, because now I know that, at least whenever I decide to have sex, she's okay with it.
My point it, you're fine to wait. Don't listen to them. In my opinion, 16 is a bit young to lose it anyway.
