Moving right along, unless anyone has anything to say we'll move right along to the next day.
Just to note, everyone, I know this may be boring and technical right now, but just give me time to get more into the thick of things. We'll stick with the system for now but if it winds up slowing things down to much I'll ease off of it. More character discussions would be helpful, though avoid anything that deels forced.
Okay, we have 3 rations, but 3 is one too few for us to feed ourselves. I'll give us all a break and assume that Matasoga's familiar and Liutana's companion can fend for themselves but this still is insufficient to feed us, so we need survival checks (as well as conversations anyone might like to have) once again, but first I shall roll for encounters.

Ah, there is very much an encounter that day. Let me see how powerful and from what book. Before I even check I would like to remind you there are some challenges in real life that one simply cannot overcome. I will not, necissarily, always choose a monster that it is possible to defeat...This is where knowledge skills come into play. If you want to know how powerful a creature is, roll a knowledge check (if you can).

ALright, this should be interesting. Everyone make a Spot Check (And Sara, since you won't be on when I'm up, you roll for initiative as well).

Matasoga sees no living (animate) creatures aside from a pair of unusually dark squirrels of somewhat unusually large size.

Having long been a native of these woods you are certain that this pair of what appear to be squirels are nothing so benign as that. 14 inches long (excluding the tail) they are too big. Their black fur and red eyes clearly mark them appart as well. Though you cannot see in which direction those eerie red eyes are fixed, the little creatures head seems to be pointed directly at you and your companions. What do you do?

Liutana squinted at the black squirrels for a moment before signaling to the others to stop. "Be on your guard. Those are not normal woodland creatures."

Well the others (If they fail their initial spot check) will be allowed a second one and now that the matter has been brought to Matasoga's attention he has a second look at them and searches his memory of the arcane...

((Ah, lousy roll.)) He says the following: "I have heard of such creatures before. I believe they are called Skiurid though I am afraid I know no more than this." ((Had that been just 2 points higher that information could have been useful...Sorry guys. Like I said, it was a really shutty roll.)) The creatures crouch down and seem ready to attack...Everyone roll initiatives (except those who have not yet made spot checks. ROll them first!).

Oh, just so everyone knows, the Skiurids are 10 feet above us on a tree branch. Those without ranged weapons, throwable weapons, or reach weapons...Will have to get creative. Also they are about 30 feet ahead of us.

Okay, on your first roll you don't see the creatures at all. After Liutana points them out you are able to not only see them but you can tell that one has it's eyes fixed directly on you.
