I haven't read the Dark Tower Series yet. I tried several years ago but couldn't get into the first chapter. I'm going to try again soon though now that I'm older ^_^

Yeah, reading a book is no fun if you can't summon up any interest beyond the first few sentences.
But have any of you ever tried to lose interest in a book before you finished it? I hate it when it happens, it's like I wasted my time.
(I was reading some book with dragons last time it happened. Only reason I read the end was because I flipped my way through the book until I got to it.)

Which one's your favorite kedelko? surprised

Gwennafran: I had a job one summer where all I did was sit around in the sun for 8 hours. I hated it. All I could do was read. For a whole year after that I could *rarely* enjoy a book all the way through.

Lady Gyrfalcon
The Dark Tower series by Stephen King, starting with the Gunslinger, is ver good.
My favourite book is Good Omens! It's hilarious.

YES. I really have to finish The Dark Tower. ... And by finish I mean read all of it. I only read the first one and I'm going to need to read it again, because I forgot everything. -__-

And Good Omens is amazing. How adorable is the name Crowley on a grown man? heart

Wow, you guys. The Dark Tower? Bag of Bones? Hearts in Atlantis?

Where have all you Stephen King fans been hiding?

heart LOVE ME SOME HORROR FICTION. heart

Although really, his stuff isn't that scary. I think the scariest stuff was the basement in Bag of Bones, and in Cujo, the monster in Tad's closet. I never read It, though.

And the empty government building in The Stand.

On a side note, Myth Busters is basically the best show ever.

Kedelko, was the book in Arizona, "Desperation"?

Also, Lisey's Story isn't creepy but it's awesome. One of my favorites.

AND, the creepiest Stephen King moment I've read so far is in "Gerald's Game". Not many books scare me during a certain scene, but that did a good job. XP

Yeah, I haven't read anything new by him...

Ooo, but if you want to read something really scary, read House of Leaves. It's a tough read - what with bunch loads of footnotes, dual narrating, and text going sideways sometimes - but it's amazing and totally worth it.

And the series Otherland by Tad Williams is really disturbing at times (a lot of times). Woo! DON'T BE FOOLED. The title is misleadingly bland. It's crazy and wonderful.

Back to Stephen King, Rose Madder's good, too. The cover scares the hell out of me. >_>

And read The Long Walk. It's Stephen King writing as Richard Bachman. It's dark and horrible (in a good way), and the last sentence is amazing. heart
