Kung Pow was so dumb but I still caught myself laughing. My favorite was the guy who thought getting his a** kicked was a good thing. I think one of his special moves was called "face to foot" style.

Dubbing can take away the beauty of a movie. Although poor voice actors can make us laugh, the orignal actor puts a lot into their voice to perfect their performances. Even though I don't understand what they're saying, I can still sence their emotions.
It can depend on the genre though, even though I'd still go for subtitles, the voice actors aren't as bad in animated movies.

Well, a lot of anime seiyuus also do TV show dubbing, too. I think I recognized a few while watching dubbed X-Files episodes.

There are also a lot of great voice actors, so I don't exactly hate them, I love Yûko Miyamura's voice!

i doubt anime seiyuu only works for anime, i mean, that's their way of living right?
doing some voice for characters, so somehow they must've also do plenty other non-anime movies or tv shows. Or else...what would they do if they don't get an anime job?

I think my chief concern is pronunciation, especially with anime dubbing. It's like they place emphasis on the wrong syllables so it just sounds silly. Plus there seems to be more emotion in the original language, which is almost never captured in the dubbing. It makes me wonder if the dubbers even seen the show they're dubbing or they're just doing it because it's their job.

It makes me wonder as well, since there's not enough emotion in the dubbed anime. Maybe they just do lots of voice recording session and took the best one and use it. Or maybe because japanese people do speaks a little funny like that. It amaze me when i went to japan, lots of them speaks like cartoon characters..soo cute!! whee
