Getting hot?
  Yeah! Ouch!
It may feel that way, but it's just an illusion created by communists.
Maybe, but soon we'll get some extra water to cool ourselves when the polar caps melt.

- Really? Well perhaps when the times come you should posibly think of moving farther in land? But I guess if you're happy with where you are and far enough from drowning then it's all up to you : ]

Ehm, we can't keep running from global warming... that would be like running around to evade rain... pointless.

yep

Here is something I came across that I had never heard until I saw it in an article on Teen Vouge (I'm glad to see more people are thinking green - unfortunatly still not enough)

Last year Hawaii got 40days of non-stop rain. eek
That's like biblical. If that's not an eye opener for you, I don't know what is.

I know it won't happen anytime soon, but I fear that one day, california will seperate from the US and join Hawaii... there, in the middle of the pacific, they will have a big party and laugh as the rest of the world sinks. rofl

I personally don't think global warming is the HUGE problem that the media is making it out to be. I think that it is being blown out of proportion. In fact there was the Medieval Warm Period which was quite a bit warmer than it is now, and the ice caps never melted and polar bears didn't lose habitat.

Here is a documentary on the subject:
global warming hoax

the video is like an hour and a half long...but well worth the view

I've seen it kitten (posted it on the front page), just a bunch of bull to me. (excuse my language) sweatdrop

Sorry, global warming is not a hoax. Its real.
And the polar bears will be going extinct in your lifetime....definatly endangered.

I'm sorry that film just makes me laugh.
I can't take it seriously at all.
These scientist have been bought out, put their carreers on the line.
They actually use words and statements like, "this whole thing stinks"
lol

I'm sorry I don't buy that for a min.

The climate change might not be "apocolyptic", at least not yet, but it is changing and changing in a big way.
True sea levels have only risen .3meters since the 1900's but looking at it from a geological time frame, and what we have recorded for the past 60million years (which I believe is what we have on record) it is a dramatic change.

True every one's is entitled to their opinions, but this swindel video is way out of porpotion.
Even if(and that's a big if) what most of this film covers is true, the fact of the matter is that we should still NOT take what our earth has to offer for granted...because the earth can only give so much, and can only take so much abuse.

You can't ignore that from 1900-1970's the world was in a cooling period and that is when CO2 production went up significantly due to the industrial revolution and such. If CO2 is the cause of gobal warming then that is completely contradictory to the climate changes that were happening at the time. It doesn't make sense to me.

PolarBear Info

They might not be listed as endangerd species yet, but U.S. Fish and wildife services are pushing to get them on the list.

I'm not sure what ya mean?
1900's to 1970's there was a cooling period?
Doubt it, and if it was cooling, it must of only been off by a few degrees.

Even IF that were so that does not rule out that global warming is an issue.
and the fact that climate's are fluctuating dramatically, even if it did go to a cooling period, doesn't mean that global warming doesn't exsist.
Global Warming can have all sorts of effects on the planet. It doesn't mean the world is neccesarly going to get hot...
it could just as well freeze over.

If you could source that info that would be great.
Don't use that swindle video as a source, unless you can tell me what source they say they pulled it out of.

Global warming can still be a problem and CO2 could still be the cause of it. If the years between 1900 and 1970 were the "cooling years" and CO2 was rising in quantity in the air, that doesn't mean that CO2 was the cause of it.

I may be wrong, but I see it as that there wasn't really enough CO2 during that time to really effect anything. Now that we've (the world) have grown and industrialized even more (cars, boats, etc.), CO2 is probably high enough to really do something to the earth.
I'm thinking out of my head, so If that's wrong, my bad! xp

Still, it's like Catz said, it's not like we can ignore the fact that global warming is a problem. We do know that the ice caps are melting, we do know that hurricanes are growing stronger possibly due to the warming of the air, and we do know that greenhouse gases and polution is rising.

THings like emissions from the 1991 eruption of Mount Pinatubo in the philipines cooled the earth slighlty for 3year, temporarily masking signs of global warming.

I don't think cooling periods would of been consistant between 1900 and 1976, but possible events such as this could of caused tiny cooling periods...throughout those years.
PostPosted: Tue Mar 27, 2007 3:26 pm

All I am saying is that the earth goes through normal periods of heating and cooling and I don't think that global warming is entirely man's fault.

True it's not entierly man's fault...only about 90%
whee

I just like to challenge other's ideas.
You can argue back if ya like.

No worries.

Sure, let's seee.
Where ever did I get that number from....?

I found this:

poll: 47% americans belive it's humans fault

and this:

90% certantiy

"Very likely" meaning 90%
3nodding

and wait there's more:video - "no question humas are at fault"

and more:
VEryy likely man made - and will contine ....to be.

*sighs*
IT's so depressing.

I estimated that number, but I know I got it off somewhere.
It's mostly human activities that have taken such a huge affect on our poor mother planet.

I mean there are 6billion and growing people in the world.
With only a few contries being developed - and those few causing the most damage.
China, Mexico, and India are also developing contries...Imagine then how much more pollution there will be once those contries get up to speed, with their numbers growing exponentionly.
China and India have the most number of people in the world. A little less than half of the world's populatiion between the both of them. About 82% of people in the world live in developing or third world contires.
IF all these people start to develope which like I said China and India are, the ammount of pollution would really take a toll on this planet.

Can you imagine...
