Leonardo listened to Mirage's incessant chatter loosely, only picking up a few words here or there as he played absentmindedly with Autumn. He glanced up in slight alarm as Valentine jumped down. He had sensed the Crow's presence, but he hadn't been sure of himself. He had really been spending too much time in the closed enviorment of Mirage's parents' house. "Valentine." He breathed calmly. In truth, Leonardo felt a static tension running through his veins. He had a feeling Valentine was masking his true emotions quite well-- this Crow didn't seem one to blow up so very easily. "It's been..." Leonardo hesitated slowly, "A while." He finished at last, throwing his crimson gaze to the ground.

Mirage seemed to recoil slightly, much like the first time she, Leonardo, and Valentine had all been.. 'acquainted'. Her fingers tightly grasped her loincloth, and she nervously played with the fabric.

"...Hi, Valentine." She didn't really seem to have much to say this time, either.. Mirage glanced nervously from Autumn to Valentine, "..How have you been these past months?"

User ImageA coy smile came across Valentine's face as he watched the two, before he lethargicly began to pace, feet falling slowly, building a bit of tension before he responded. Having this sport of 'control' over other's fear was amusing to him, at the least- he found it quite funny.

"Oh, I've been fine," he replied, voice smooth. He waved a hand off at their comments, an airy expression moving in over his collected emotions. "Just doing the normal- wandering from town to town, hanging around a few bars... I racked up a nice... death toll, if you would, in the past months."

His eyes moved to the baby in Leonardo's arms. "She looks just like you," he murred, leaning against a tree, wings splaying out to be more comfortable, "Quite the resemblance."

Maternal instincts kicking in, Mirage suddenly bolted upright and smacked Valentine harshly across the cheek.

"Don't you get near my baby!" She hissed in a angered, deep tone as opposed to the normal soft, effeminate one. Her eyes were narrowed and more of a orangish-red rather than golden, as well as her pupils seemed to have narrowed and pointed. In general, she seemed to hold herself differently.

Mirage then suddenly shook her head before she began shaking and cowering, "Damnit, Mittel!" Suddenly losing interest in all three other crows, even her baby, Mirage sunk to her knees and held her head softly mumbling a conversation to herself.

User ImageQuite startled, Valentine's fingers shot to his face, gingerly touching the spot where Mirage's hand had contacted his skin. He shuddered lightly, almost going to say something before he noted Mirage's yet again changed composure. He sunk down into a crouching position in front of her, wings folded tightly to his back in a tense anticipation.

"I... wasn't going to hurt her." he murmured quietly, not moving to even touch her shoulder, "That much of me you can still rely on." Standing, he glanced down at her, then over at Leonardo. He said nothing, but retreated back a few feet, seating himself on a smooth rock.

Leonardo gazed darkly at Valentine as he spoke of Autumn and pulled the child closer, looking over to Mirage at the same moment. It seemed they hadn't quite caught Valentine at the right time. Leonardo watched in sudden shock as Mirage suddenly seemed to go slightly crazy. Well-- not really crazy but.. different. Motherly instincts? He guessed. He went over and quickly crouched near where Mirage was currently on her knees, talking as if insane. "Mirage?" He asked in a strained voice, momentarily ignoring the screeching wail of Autumn after her mother had gotten angry. "Are you alright?" It didn't seem to be so at the moment. He glanced up at Valentine, listening to the other Crow's speech silently. From his words Leonardo quite suddenly judged that he could most likely still be trusted, he nodded blankly, not so sure if Mirage would reply or not.

After a few minutes of quieted arguments with herself and someone named 'Mittel', Mirage opened her eyes again. She slowly relaxed and gently sighed, a weak smile appearing across her face.

She nodded a few times before finally speaking again, "Yes.. I'll be fine." Her eyes slowly made their way to look at the sobbing infant, she began to reach for her but quickly recoiled and sat herself ontop of her hands. "Y.. you should make sure Autumns alright, hmm?"

User ImageSitting silently, Valentine leaned slightly forward, chin resting on her interlaced fingers. He was curious, it seemed, at Mirage's sudden outburst. His eyes moved to the child for a moment, his concious checking to make sure that it was okay- after all, she was a Crow. Wings splaying out again as he relaxed, scarlet eyes seemed to be in deep thought, analyzing the situation at hand. He had apparently succeded at making the point clear that he was irritated, with a few other side affects added in.

"Apologizes." he muttered quietly, "Didn't mean... to come across as that angry." He sighed heavily, moving one hand to run his fingers through his hair. He felt the feathers along his wings stiffen a bit, an odd weariness settling over his mostly calm figure, ribs visible along his grayish skin as he breathed steadily.

Leonardo couldn't wash away the worry that covered his features like a blanket though he nodded to Mirage and worked on calming down Autumn, whispering happy-sounding nothings to the child. Leonardo felt the stiff atmosphere surrounding and glanced up at Valentine as he spoke. Once again, the Crow merely nodded, he was being uncharacteristically quiet for today. Valentine may not have meant to, but... the message had been pretty clear. Leonardo swallowed to dampen his mouth a bit and looked to the side. This wasn't a conversation he wanted to be in. No matter how necessary it clearly was.

Mirage silently watched Leonardo calm Autumn down, the small child now happily giggling and tugging at anything within her grasp. Mirage smiled, then finally looked over to Valentine once more.

"Her names Autumn." She randomly noted, not really able to think of much else to say, "She's about a month old now.. they grow so fast though." Mirage nodded to herself, gently caressing Autumn's cheek with a finger.

>>Suran stumbled out into the bustling town, fur dirtied and skin scraped from her 'adventure' in the woods earlier. She finally had managed to find her way out of there and now...now she was suddenly with people again. Lots of people. Lots and lots of-She yelped as a man stepped on her foot, quickly hustling to get somewhere. She shivered lightly, backing up. Maybe she should go back to the forest...<<

Alain quietly cleaned the counter of wood chips. Being in Kinoc, the center of trade in Oaxu, and the son of an illustrious merchant, he hardly ever found time to sit down and do what he wanted to do. The Ehalu looked at the wooden duck he had just finished whittling, slightly perplexed as to what he would do with it. Perhaps he could give it to the next child who came by the shop.

Speaking of which, he should probably be up front right now. Kinoc was mostly a Light cosmopolitan, but there was the occasional Darkie out there, and of course the Katous who couldn't resist shiny things at all. Da would be very disappointed if he let anything get stolen. Alain knew how hard his father worked to bring these artifacts to Kinoc to sell.

Children loved Alain very much. The Ehalu always welcomed them into shop. When he could, he played games with them, and brought them small toys when he made them. He was certainly cherished by the families of these Light children, aside from his own kin. He treated all Oaxu alike, even though he was slightly wary of Dark and Katou.

Alain shrugged these thoughts off, putting a bright smile on for the next person to step into his novelty shop.

Curlign his soft feathery wings behind himself, the little Sarus hurried through the hustle and busle of Kinoc. The pockets of his pants jingled with the sounds of small coins in his pockets, a small sack in his hands as he hurried through the crowds. His Guardian said while she was pickign up a few things for their tavern, he was allowed to look around.

There was so much to look at! The little boy just didn't know what to look at first! His brilliant blue hues jsut counldn't stop moving, fore if they did he was afraid he'd miss somethign for sure!

However, little Julian stopped in hsi tracks when he was a little store with neat little trinkets in it. There were some things he'd never really seen ebfore, so it drew him in instantly. A tiny pale hand pushed the door open, peekign aroudn it nervously.

"hello?" he asked softly, not stepping into the store quite yet.

>>As she backed up she bumped into another Ehalu<< Sorry! >>The poor feline ran forwards, dodging the people in the streets. Her heart pounded as hard as her feet on the street, crimson eyes looking around desperatly for a place to run to. Thats when she spotted the shop. Out in the distance with cute little toys...the perfect place for a child! Adults wouldn't be in there, they wouldn't step on her feet anymore<<

Alain looked up from the counter as the little bell at the door alerted him to a customer. The Ehalu leaned forward slightly, trying to see the person who had just stepped into the shop until he saw a small Sarus walking in with what seemed to be a mix of wonderment and nervousness on his face.

Such was a typical expression on any Oaxu's face when they saw Alain's shop, and it brought him a small sense of pride. Usually it was from the items that came from as far as Venna, and other strange things that the Ehalu couldn't even define, rather than the smaller soapstone baubles he usually made whenever there was a slow hour in the shop. Alain didn't let that discourage him, though. He let a warm smile spread across his face. "Hey there," he said kindly, addressing little Julian, "what's your name? I'm Alain."

The small boy was probably on an errand for his mother, or something of the like, for he was clutching a small bag. Ah, Kinoc...Alain briefly mulled over the fact that Kinoc so child-safe. Many families around here never bothered locking their doors. Alain stroked the wooden duck with his thumb, still smiling at the child. If this Sarus liked it, maybe he could place the small item with him.
