I've got to say action and shounen manga.
Manga isn't exactly a deep read, it doesn't have symbolism or underlying themes, its really just a fun read or like watching a cartoon (like animae...), so I think that there has to be action to keep it interesting. Often the romantic ones are really predictable and get lame after a while (some of them are just for pubescent young girls who want to act older than they already are)... fantasy is good though, especially in a sci-fi aspect when its combined with action.

I watch anything really like. Like my taste changes from time to time like some days I will watch a full on romance such as Suzuka or some shizz lol and some days I'm in the mood for some mobile machine dog fights so I watch Gundam seed Astray. But I think my two favorite aniems at the moment are Death note and D-grey man
