"When you live in the desert milady, it's hard to find anything you could call the kindness of the gods-- and when you do it is merely a trick, an illusion of light and your own inner desires. Every single granule of sand screams to me 'the gods have forsaken you' their voices outweigh any man of piety, you need only open your eyes to see the sand's message."
Seeing the envoy launch he followed suit, taking a quick step to the right and lowering his blade like a lance, charging at full speed-- one kunai glancing off his breastplate and another ripping across his side to leave a horizontal gash so precise the wound looked self-inflicted. The pain, the mad whir of his blade was a rush, but he could not stay here much longer-- his job had been done, the surrender was rejected; he must return with news to launch the invasion, the entire country hung on his word. As he moved closer with the screaming Vorpael Osric began to laugh madly, his eyes bright with joy-- he felt power absolute, he would be the one to bring his country to glory and drag down the gods to wallow in the hot sand. Ever since he was born he wanted to live in the skies, where the air doesn't strangle but moves you, where you can look down and see the world.

Issildia was slightly surprised at the human's gamble in choosing to merely charge at her. Certainly a great deal of damage could have done had she remained where she was standing, but contrary to the human's intentions her form immediatly dissipated into shadow as his weapon passed through her former position. Though it seemed that it was not a perfect escape as a scant few drops of blood now clung to his weapon. Issildia reappeared in a subtle flicker of darkness a few yards opposite Osric where she now stood on a rocky rise; her hand slowly comming to the narrow cut that ran along the left side of her face...
Issildia's expression at first was once of surprise...but then it turned to a light smirk as she ran her index and middle finger over the small wound, a slight hiss of energy was emmitted as the wound quickly healed over. Her hand then lowered as she sheathed her sword.
"I look forward to our next encounter human...perhaps your kind are not as without true skill as we previously believed..." She said in a manner that surprisingly, was devoid of sarcasm and any form of insult.
She then looked to the battlefield and the retreating forces on both sides. "I doubt that I will have long to wait."
At that her body suddenly sank into it's own shadow before all evidence of her presence faded as if she had never been. Only the fallen corpse of the denizen remained, serving as proof that an envoy had intervened, and perhaps only aided in creating a greater conflict between her people and the humans of Mehtu.

All enemy forces had been put down or retreated, scouts marked a new line on the land towards Des'ilren by each battle they were pushing closer to the bridge, securing the area for the upcoming conflict. The six who had followed Osric came up to him quickly now, forming a quick line formation and standing at attention. Osric's breathing began to level again, the blades of the Vorpael finally coming to a halt after winding down; Osric sheathed the blade and turned to his soldiers. "So it is war", Osric's eyes drifted down slowly to his wound the envoy had left, a hand coming up to meet it. Walking back to the speeder, he mounted it gingerly and started the engine. Fastening his helmet he yelled above the din of the motors "Battalions 01 and 08 will stay here to keep the area secured, the rest are to return home to rest and refit." Turning back he sped off toward the tuskar, which would deliver him to the carrier to return home and speak with the council. When the envoy blended to shadow, when the envoy's wounds dissipated...Osric felt unbridled hate. Mehtu would show Des'ilren, show the gods! That from a boulder to a grain of sand, in water they sink alike. The humans would have the last word.

*A short time later ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"You deliberately disobeyed my orders! You were to merely take out their line of command, but instead I am receiving reports of you granting a human aid from our own troops! The carcass of a denizen now sits outside our gates, it's defeat commendable by some...is not so here!" Prince Kurzick uttered with venom as he glared down at the kneeling form of the envoy. The audience chamber was completely silent, for the prince had sent the court away as word had reached him of the battle.
"And now the human's have made an advance..." he stated grimly as Issildia's eyes remained lowered.
"The denizen became the primary threat upon entering the battle...I had little choice but to contend with it before it reached the city. And the human you mentioned aided in the denizen's destruction...it can be assumed that he does not consider his brethren of Mehtu allies." Issildia said flatly as she remained frozen in position.
"I do not operate on assumptions, I can assure you of that." he countered swiftly.
The prince was silent for a brief moment before he spoke again.
"You will be dealt with later, presently you and other Envoy's stationed here are to retrieve a messenger of the Rudeva from human territory. Try and make yourself useful, otherwise I may no longer have a need to keep your kind around. Dismissed."

Osric strode proudly into the council chamber, he had changed into his finest attire-- gleaming white robes collared with black-specked fur from some unknown beast; his gauntlets, greaves, and sword sheath shone lucid, borne with ivory. Outstretching his hands he knelt before the council, the chancellors all slowly chanting the sutra, "Trust not in the skies, but the sacred ground you walk on to guide and keep you on your feet. Hail the heart and the mind, not the spirit-- believe in your own own power and strive to become more than a mortal, more than a god. Be. Live. Conquer."
The final words echoed slowly through the room as Dichon, mediator of the council spoke; his voice strong and formidable, the great oak in a forest; "Osric-- young, fair, brilliant Osric. What has Mehtu's finest strategist brought to our humble hall?"
Osric rose stiffly, such exchanges were not uncommon in Mehtu-- to veil with praise grave scrutiny. Dichon was widely known to be Osric's greatest opponent in the push for war. "Wise Dichon, I bring nothing," raising his head chancellors looked to eachother confused, a soft clamor rising. "I bring messages from Des'Ilren, from the head envoy..But nothing of my own. I myself bring nothing."
Dichon wagged a finger at Orsic, the game of wits was now on, "We shall see-- if it is as I thought you have indeed brought it Osric, brought your own selfish goals before your position as a negotiator; your job is to avoid superflous conflict. What say you?" Osric nearly scoffed in the face of the most highly regarded man in the state, "I entreat you my lord, I went only with peace in my heart--" before he had a chance to continue Dichon interrupted him, "Peace in your heart is the stillness of another! We know your games fully well young Osric!" This was not going well, Osric's fists tightened behind his back, if that bumbling fool had his way Mehtu would be a motley pack of farmers and artisans-- begging the gods for their mere subsistence..Powerless.. "You guess well, you speak well honored Judge, but it would seem you do not wait nor remember well. I was sent to entreat Des'Ilren to surrender-- the most powerful country in the civilized world! I will deliver their message now: they said no." voices erupted in the hall, words falling like drops in a rainstorm-- indistinguishable from eachother. The military representative, Aleroth, shook a fist in the air and shouted above the rest. "Osric has not brought war on us gentlemen, the prince and the envoys of Des'Ilren has. After decades of conflict we clearly have the upper hand, but the foolish zealots can't see it, can't surrender. War is upon us, councilmen-- Upon Des'Ilren.. We shall be victorious! To arms! To arms! Be! Live! Conquer!" A chant rose from supporters one by one as the humans began to embrace eachother in brotherhood and patriotism. Only Dichon and Osric remained silent, Osric's mad smile to Dichon's fury-- the two locked eyes, never breaking. Osric had won his war, allready he felt like he was standing among the clouds-- looking down on the world below him.
The councilmen stood, pumping their fists and crying raucously: a cry that soon reached the citizens of Mehtu who joined in, shouting as if they had allready won. The people of Mehtu cheered in unison, letting the heavens hear them. "Be! Live! Conquer!"

Landon Moseley returned home to his small apartment, unlocking the several bolts of protection as he stepped into his dark apartment, shutting the door behind him. Habitually he started through his house, not needing the light because he knew his way around the small household. Movement caught his eye. He hesitated in his reaction, completely off guard and he knew it was to late to prevent an attack. He grabbed at a forearm just as it locked in place around his throat, the hand covering his mouth. His eyes wide in fear and surprise. He stood there completely in darkness caught tightly his captor's rough embrace. He felt at the skin of the forearm trying to fidn purchase for release to no avail. He took notice of the blistered and scarred skin after a moment, a name suddenly running through his mind and escaping his lips into his captors gloved hands. "Rayner?"
The grasp lossened suddenly confirming the man's accusation. Flicking the switch, the lights suddenly came on shining brightly over his old friend, or what remained of him. Rayner grinned at him, the bone of his jaw showing through the strings of skin that stretched over it. "By Derasai, You nearly scared me out of my skin."
Rayner chuckled weezing lightly, "Oh, we wouldn't want that now, one person is enough for a fate such as mine."
"How have you been?" changed the subject quickly, always feeling uncomfortable when Rayner's condition was discussed, even if he was poking fun at himself.
"...Fine. But I've come to ask for a favor, that would leave me in a state much better than my current."
Landon grinned, "Everytime we meet, its always a favor you ask of me. But I am happy to help out an old friend. How can I help."
Rayner withdrew a wrinked and dirtied piece of paper from his pocket, unfolding it into a much large size as he spread it onto a nearby table. " I need help with this."
He gazed at the sketchy diagram of some device, "Well, you know I'm rotten at mechanics and I wouldnt have parts for the creation of such a thing either. What is it anyways?"
"Its somewhat of a mechanical respirator.. to help better the air for my condition. Its a much more compact version of the one in my suit. Although there are several significant differences. I know you studied and practiced a little bit of the new mechanical surgery, so I was hoping you would help install it." Rayner weezed.
"Oh Derasai, there's no way I could deal with something like this. I havent done much like it before. Plus, we you don't have the parts for it. Maybe if we had the resources it could be arranged but--"
"Landon you know me a lot better than to come to you empty handed. I already have the parts and the medical supplies you need. I also already have the device complete for the most part." He pressed upon the paper, gesturing to the sketch. " Both of which have been gratefully donated by the Military." He gave a mischevious grin hinting to his stolen goods.
Landon shook his head with a smile, " I should've known. You want my help with a drastic procedure, involving stolen military parts. You realize if you or I were found out, we'd both be at the mercy of the Military. And you known as well as I, that much doesnt exist."
Rayner weezed, letting out a series of coughs along with it. He didn't have much time left to spare. The light argument was frustrating him. Since his accident, he lost his temper alot more easily, as if most of his emotions had burned off, with most of his blistered skin, leaving only anger. He gave a moment after his coughing before speaking once more, " ..Will you help me or not?"
Landon shrugged, letting out a sigh. Rayner had always been there for him through their childhood, watching over him as an older brother would, "...Of course I'll help you.. Despite how much I hate your little favors." He gave a soft chuckle as a smile spread across his face.
Rayner smiled, patting his old friends back and tousling his hair as he had done to him during their childhood. "Good. And thank you. I Will see ya in a day or two then, I still have a few adjustments to some of the device's mechanics." He grabbed the wrinkled paper from the table, returned it to his folded state, and then to his pocket. Rayner turned to leaving, limping softly as made for the door.
"Meet where?" Landon asked curiously.
"You know where, my friend." He made for a wink, but only his brow and cheek made for each other, making the gesture seem odd, without the eyelids. Rayner was gone within moments, disappearing from the door as he made his way into the night.

Issildia stood silently as the prince continued to regard her with obvious disdain.
Without a word she turned to leave, choosing to let this encounter end without any conflict...she had been granted more than her share already.
"Remember your place Envoy...It would do well I think, for you to heed my words this time..." Lord Kurzick added coolly.
Issildia's stride paused for a brief moment as he uttered those scathing words...It seemed that a reaction would be forth coming but instead her even gaze met the monarch's for an instant, making a silent but unmistakable promise of the consequence that would be reaped from his actions. Should Virgil Kurzick, Prince of De'ris Ilen ever dare to betray the Envoys, retribution would be swift and wrought with the darkest torment that even Nyth would be hesitant to use. Arrogance had a way of overstepping it's bounds...and lord Kurzick's time would come...Even he knew of this.
Then she turned to exit the audience chamber, two figures immediately came up on either side of Issildia as they left the northern wing of the citadel to head towards the west tower. The man on the right was garbed in a light set of leather armor similar to the dark uniforms of the common soldier's of De'ris Ilen. But this set was edged in lines of silver that marked him as an Envoy. His appearance was classic of the moriera, dark angled features accented by far lighter eyes. Though the man to the left was far different, his hair was the color of the deserts of Mehtu and his skin was lighter still. He did not wear a uniform of the military like the other man. The only similarities between the two were the unmistakable eyes that most morieria shared and similar designs on his clothing that marked him also as an envoy.
"The prince certainly is testing our limitations..." Stated the envoy that walked to the right of Issildia. "In more ways than one, it would seem Arian." Issildia replied dryly as they started to climb at spiral stair that led into the west tower.
"It would be far easier if we simply disposed of him." The envoy on the left replied distantly.
"I doubt all would view that as the best solution Dante, though I must admit that currently it is a most attractive plan." She said with a slight smirk as the three entered the entrance quarters to the west tower where the envoys resided when stationed in Navinye.

Osric's desk was on par to none in clutter; maps, papers, bills, covered the hard wood completely like snow on the plains. On top was Mehtu's official declaration of war, and a map of the world. Chewing on the end of a pencil, Osric wracked his brain over his strategy proprosal for the Grand War's first operation. The Rudeva was would bated him the most at first, but he believed he had arrived on his plan.
At night Troop 18, the most highly decorated troop in the army, would siege the Rudeva's capital. Their objectives were to knock out communications, and take all leaders in the capital hostage. Troops 01 and 08, allready stationed at the border would be supplemented by 04 and 07. The league would form at the mouth of the bridge, and hold off any hostiles with long range weapons and shields exclusively-- when the enemy made a push for the bridge demolitions would destroy the bridge supports. Amidst the confusion, the new zeppelin squad would cross over and secure the border from Des'Ilren's side. This would be Mehtu's first true breach on their country's soil, surely they would panic and oversend troops to fight at the border. Infantry dropped by the zeppelins would deploy remote explosives and shields to keep the enemy away as troops 01, 08, 04, and 07 would send volleys of artillery at their rear. This alone would decimate their morale, but at the same time if Troop 18 succeded they'd have a naval port on Des'Ilren, and go around the back with troops 02, 03, 05, 06, and 09. All other troops would be kept on reserve to react immediately to whatever Des'Ilren counteracted with. Osric set down his pencil and gripped the table edge with both hands, breathing out slowly and letting a wry chuckle escape from his lips as he looked down at the map-- imagining the small figurines scattered on the paper to be moving, his plan in action. Osric nodded slowly to himself, feeling confident.
A rap on the door came, snapping out of his stupor he welcomed the person to come inside. In his usual olive drab, Vick walked in and hung a black bowler onto the coatrack by the door before settling into a chair across from Osric. Settling back into his chair, Osric appreciated the interruption "Business or pleasure, Vick?"
Smiling genuinely Vick outstretched his black-gloved hands, he had burned them handling artillery early in his career and was self-concious about the scars, "What's the difference? I will say though, it's important. I planted a tracker on the exo-suit just as you asked-- but it's gone still. It's owner must be off on...Business?" "Or pleasure? So, you think he may have noticed it allready?" asked Osric. "It's possible, but listen to this-- infantry spotters saw him making off with military resources, very delicate items indeed. I believe he's going to use them to supplement the exosuit."
Osric leaned foward, propping his elbows onto the table, "Well that's some very skilled labor..What side of the city did he leave the suit?" Vick pointed to a spot on one of the maps on Osric's table. "Hmm..That's very near to some shady businesses...Akiba district..I want a paper on every man in the Akiba district who works in engineering and electronics, send out the informers and secret police. Put a vice grip on that little rat..But I want him taken alive, I think I can make him see the light yet.."

Rayner wheezed as he continued walking, ignoring the pain caused by his limp. Spit was flung from his torn jaw as a trio of hacking coughs followed his exhausted breaths. It had been almost another hour since he had left Landon's and the populated area he lived in. He trudged on through the sand. He stopped to catch his breath, coughing deeply, the oxygen becoming to much for him. He raised a hand as he gazed at a device around his wrist much similar ot a watch. He raised his goggles, whcih had been issued to him during his time in the military. The small object prooved useful to his lidless eyes, protecting his lidless eyes. A sigh of relief came overhim as he gazed at the small tracking system on his watch, that was programmed to locate the suit.
Changing direction he made his way about 70 paces forward before coming to a stop once more. He slumped over slowly reaching down as pulled the sand- camo tarp from the compacted suit. He pressed a button on the small wrist device he glanced at earlier. The exo-suit came to life with sevarl mechanical noises as the leg joints slowly straightened from their kneeled position. The hatch also opened as it finished rgaining its large posture. He Grabbed hold of one of the metal handles, pulling himself up into the machine that helped him live. Habitually, his hands ran across the consoles, even without surveying their actions. Rayner waited several moments after the hatch closed, waiting for the air to thin before setting off once more intot he darkness. Though he had a day or two before he met up with Landon, he had several preparations of his own to make.

"One of our contacts in Mehtu has been sending in reports of the military mobilizing...no true evidence of this claim as come to us yet but I doubt that even rumors should be overlooked considering the most recent attack on our lands." Arian said coolly as he turned from the balcony that overlooked the city below.
"Prince Kurzick seems oddly worried over a Rudeva messenger...and wishes for us to retrieve him from Mehtu. Strange for Virgil to concern himself with foreign powers, perhaps his clandestine unit actually came upon some useful information..." Issildia said in an almost distant manner as she finished cleaning her sword of the grime acquired from battle and sheathed it.
Dante laughed dryly from where he stood leaned against the opposing wall of the room. "As if those fools could find anything of note without tripping over it first...I would assume that they were fed the information by a corrupt contact."
"That much can be assumed" Arian answered as he stifly crossed his arms. "I will see what can be learned of the matter. You two should probably get that messenger out of harms way for the moment. Even if it is a ploy I'm sure that you both will manage well enough."
Issildia nodded as she stood slowly. "Then it can't be helped until you get the intelligence on the situation. See what you can learn in Mehtu, Arian. Dante you and I will leave within the hour to see about this rudeva messenger..."

It was a different sort of light that fell across the deserts that spotted the human lands, far different than what he remembered of the Isle of Elden. This place was lifeless it seemed, only the cities of metal that the human's dwelled in proved contrary to his assumption. A cloaked figure slowly moved across the arid plain, his head remaining lowered as his hand clutched at what seemed to be nothing more than a withered staff. Then his posture changed abruptly as his eyes glanced ahead, an unusual wind laced with a foreign chill passed quickly by, briefly heralding the echo of a howl.
Upon a rocky rise, two wolves stood motionless. One was the color of the sand laden desert, whereas the other slightly smaller one bore a coat of a startling white like the snow that blanketed the lands of the moriera.
The cloaked figure blinked for a short moment as the dusty air whistled toward him once again; though in that moment the wolves had vanished.
"You would think that the likes of you would grow tired of playing tricks on an old man." said the man as he turned around, slowly lowering his cloak to reveal a face wrinkled by age.
"Elder...we did not expect you to be the one to speak on behalf of your people." Issildia stated as her form appeared in a subtle hiss of darkness. Beside her, Dante appeared in a similar manner his face unreadable as he remained silent.
"Many think it is best if I come, if not me then who else? Besides I will be better off in your country then my own...or so I am told." Elder Suel said with a slight laugh....
~~~~~~~~~~
Within the human city of Iloria, nearest to the border of De'ris Ilen, a young soldier moved quickly through the hall that housed the offices of many of the militaries department heads.
The very end of the corridor was where the office of Osric Klauser was located. The applied sciences division had become something of the forerunner of the current campaign against De'ris Ilen, as it had been the only one to begin putting out actual results that could be actively used in combat.
Arian truly disliked playing the part of aid and messenger within the human ranks, but sadly getting to act the part of a higher ranking officer held far greater risks, especially for the likes of an envoy. For the moment this cover would have to suffice. He knocked quickly on the door before opening it slightly. "Chancellor Klauser my apologies for the interruption; But news of a messenger of the Rudeva being admitted into De'ris Ilen has been issued. The council has requested your involvement to discern what exactly is the level of rudeva involvement. Clandestine orders have been granted for your team to cross the border into De'ris Ilen." Arian then fell silent as he waited to be dismissed. The chain of command here was not so different from how things worked with the armies of his homeland. Thankfully the envoys themselves did not necessarily have a line of command, merely they all played their part. Still they did retain an overall commander who was currently in the north dealing with some matter on request of the Prince.
Osric slowly examined the youth in his office, something about his appearance irked him, but he was unsure why.. Standing up he circled around the desk. "Hmph, this frustration must be akin to those envoys. Beings of awesome potential and power, sent around by the administration as mere lapdogs.."
Flinging on the dark green overcoat he reserved for travelling, he holstered two pistols and grabbed a long knife-- he'd be travelling light. "I will be waiting at dock 06 for sortie into the field by speeder. Retrieve two of the blackguard and meet me there." Exiting his office and shutting the door behind him, he marched on to dock 06. 'This is Dichon's doing..That kid was not a messenger, his eyes were too keen...An assassination attempt? I must stay vigilant."
------------------------------------------------
Inside the office Vick also crossed his way to the door, but not before shooting one last glance at the messenger. Speaking lugumbriously, he asked; "Tell me boy, have you read the bible?*" after hearing the messenger's response, he left the room.
(* = a code within Meh'tu to weed out spies, the correct response would be "Only the title, my friend." It's up to you whether or not Arian knows it.)
Under the careful watch of the townsfolk, an elderly man emerged from the very building she stood in front of. She acknowledged his presence with a swift bow before greeting him verbally. "You know, you could come pay me a visit sometime. I shouldn't always have to be the initiator." The smirk on her face and her psuedo-playful tone of voice kept her words respectful in regards to this man's position, though it was clear enough that she was only half joking. The old man gave a smile, the permanent wrinkles in his face pushing and yielding to form temporary ones. "I'll take that into consideration sometime!" He laughed heartily. "Although I must say, it is you whom has the bone to pick with me." He walked down the small mound of stairs and stood next to his young visitor. She considered him to be a fairly short man, seeing as he stood only as high as her neck, although she heard once that most creatures shrink with age. As they turned away from the people to walk in search of a decent place to debate, the old man made another comment followed by a sigh and a head shake: "Sarielle. Must you stir the people so? Would it kill you to show a kind face?" Sarielle chuckled in response. "Yes, I think it just might."
The large exo-suit lumbered slowly through the desert valley. His eyes rolled about in their lidless sockets drowsily. He was slowly drifting into Unconsciousness from the wounds he had neglected. He had lost a considerable amount of blood before his wounds finally stopped bleeding, and the blood finally clotted. He had been on the move for days now, pushing past exhaustion. A grin appeared weakly across his face upon the dream-likethoughts of his future surgeries. They would help to better him. He had nearly become addicted to the surgical mechanics that we're already scattered scarsely across his flesh.
His legs continued to pedal the exo-suits forward, despite their wounds or his nearing unconsciousness. It had become a habitual task, because he was always on the move. A ring began in his ears, which he batted away drowsily with sudden jersk of his head and neck. His brow lowered, annoied as he slowly became more alert. The ring he had heard had been a small beep that emitted from the suit's small radar. He gazed upon the small broken glass screen. He wiped the dust away fromthe shattered glass fragments with a gloved thumb. Instantly his hand ran across the console, turning off the various lights that beamed forward. The color of the portal before him flickered as he enhanced intensity range to give him better vision through the darkness.. He gazed at the target on the small broken device, hoping it wasnt another malfunction. Rayner pedaled the large mechanical beast forward towards the next rise, Making slowler movemnts,to lessen the noise of the Exo-suit's equipment. He stopped upon the the hill, flicking on the infrared vision as he gazed out over the plain. Three figures out against the cool desert. A grin flickered across his the scarred part of what remained of his lips.
"Well well, what do we have here?"
As night fell and the desert began to grow cooler, Elder Suel along with the two Envoys continued onward to the north, now being forced to move far slower due to the fact that the elderly rudeva was now in their charge.
"They say he is not like his father...the Prince." Suel said distantly.
"That is a matter of opinion. You will learn soon enough of Lord Kurzick's nature." Dante said lowly without looking at the Elder.
"Quite so..." Suel replied in a similar tone as he became silent. It was then that Dante looked back at Issildia, who's pace had slowed so that she remained behind them.
For a short moment Dante fell back to walk along side her.
"We are being followed it seems." she said calmly without even bothering to look at him, giving no sign that they were even having a conversation.
"Should I go?" he asked in the same manner. "No...we can wait for the moment, if we have humans tracking us then their patience will wear thin soon enough."
