Reselda winced slightly as Kala touched her shoulders but allowed herself to be led to the back. She found a spot where she couldn't be seen from the main store but where she could still make a quick exit if need be. Though she stood still her eyes quickly scanned the room looking for any other ways out. ^Well they seem okay. At least they haven't called the cops yet like most do,^ "Name's Reselda." she commented in a voice barely above a whisper.

((Note: When something's typed ^blah blah^ it means private thoughts. And please excuse the not so perfect grammar she may use I'm trying to portray the street kid side of her vocab. biggrin ))

Kala kept thinking how the poor girl looked like a deer in headlights, wanting to get away, but not sure how. Reselda, eh? Very pretty. Kala was thinking quickly about how to get her to calm down, having no intention of calling the cops...she doubted the girl had done much more than steal food. Out of sight of the girl, she nudged Cain to say something.

Cain got up, briefly taking his sweet wife's hand in his and squeezed. Looking at the girl, he was reminded of Kala's sister, so shy and young, but so full of energy and eager to please. Noticing her eyes darting around, Cain leaned against the doorframe. No sense getting so worked up, 'sides no where to go, this door's the only way out, unless you want to go up, and I left such a mess upstairs, I'd hardly want you to see that. Tipping a wink to his wife, he continued. Why not sit down, accept a cuppa, and we can get down to your problem. While he was talking, he was shifting power into his left-hand, creating something. Holding his hand out, he showed the girl a delicate crimson butterfly he had just made. No worries, if you wish to leave after, you can keep the keepsake, and leave, but your problem will still exist. Take the butterfly, and you accept our help, where ever that may lead... Cain waited for her to make her decision.

Katrina blinked, clearly suprised. She numbly accepted the useless book back, and it took a minute for her mouth to work again. Katrina's blush darkened a bit, making her pale blonde hair seem lighter.

Etain asked gently, her smile remaining warm as her eyes danced with laughter. She couldn't help but feel kinda sorry for the girl who seemed so nervous and scared. ninja

Reselda smiled slightly at Kala's comment but took a few steps back as Cain stood and walked over to the doorframe. However when he held out the butterfly she couldn't help but stare, "How-How did you do that?" she asked with a slight stutter as her expression changed from one of fear to one of shock as she found a seat on the nearest empty couch. twisted

Kala wasn't sure if Jessy had seen anything specific or not when Cain pulled his trick, but she played along with her husband, reluctant to mention their powers. Cain is a magician of sorts...specializes in pulling ruby animals out of thin air...and mighty good at it I must say. She was glad to see the girl's expression had changed from fear, and hoped it would be a good sign. Standing, she walked over to her husband, giving him a kiss on the cheek, taking the ruby butterfly at the same time. She walked over to wear Reselda sat, and held the butterfly out to her, which seemed to glow with an inner light of it's own. Cain is right...the door you beside goes up to our apartment, so pretty much your only way out is past him, but as we said if you wish to leave, we will let you go willingly...no cops involved at all. You have done nothing wrong to us, and so you have nothing to fear from us at. We wish to help, if you'll accept it....and the butterfly is yours to keep no matter what you choose.

"A magician? Oh, okay," Reselda returned in the same just above a whisper voice she had used earlier as her expression changed to something resembling a crushed hope before quickly turning to complete neutral. She looked at the butterfly for a minute or two before speaking again "I couldn't take it. It would probably be stolen or broken." twisted

heart Cain grinned in spite of himself. His wife was as smart as she was beautiful. Well, might as well play it up. No worries on that regard... He placed the delicate creature on the table, hard, shattering it to a thousand pieces, which instantly reformed into the butterfly again. Then he placed a small cloth over it, and stepped back. Not only indestructable, but its got a mind of its own, it can never be stolen from its owner... He gestured and the butterfly was in his hand again. Cain motioned to the cloth. Check to make sure she's not there anymore. And if you want, you will be the owner of this creature, and it will always be with you, as well. No worries. we want to help you. He held out the butterfly again.

Reselda looked at the butterfly with slight wistfulness. She had never owned something so beautiful and precious but knew what it would mean if anyone saw her with it, "I would but if anyone saw someone like me with it I'd probably end up in jail for stealing it or...." she started as a little fear returned to her eyes.
It was about then that the bell once again signaled that someone had come in as two police officers stepped into the store. One looked down the isles while his partner looked for anyone who worked there.
At hearing the bell Reselda stiffened as fear, and perhaps hopelessness, flooded her eyes. It was fairly obvious she was just barely resisting the urge to try and hide. twisted

Kala stood up and looked to see who had arrived, then asked her husband Cain, do you mind seeing what they need? I'm a bit tired....Jessy, come with me. She nodded in Reselda's direction, and motioned the girl to follow after her upstairs to their small, cute and homey apartment. Entering the kitchen from the stairway, she set about making some lunch for everyone. Jessy? Reselda? Anything in particular you'd like to eat?

Reselda remained frozen where she was for a couple minutes glancing between the door and Kala before quickly following her up stairs. "No thanks I ate something this morning," she added still acting tense, and the fear not leaving her eyes. twisted

Kala looked over at Reselda from the top of the refrigerator door. That may be true, but that was this morning, dear....quite a few hours have passed since then. She give the girl a grin, and pulled out some fixings for sandwiches. Let's see...we got ham salad, I can make tuna salad in a pinch if you'd like that better....Jessy, do you mind getting the potato chips? Apples.... She carted everything over to the table as she talked, then stared at it for a moment. Hmm...did I forget anything? Oh, yeah! Carrots...

"No really it's okay. I'm used to it. I've already had my meal for the day." Reselda replied before realizing what she had said and covering her mouth with a small gasp and her face going slightly pale. twisted

Kala studied the girl for a moment, her face one of warm concern. Do you have anyplace to live? Parents?
