It's not the greatest, but I still like quite a bit of it! There's no reason to go around flaming something just because you don't like it. Everyone has opinions, and there are very few that should be negatively portrayed like this.

Umm, I feel out of place in this crowd...
But anyway, never forget your roots. Everything you know and love that goes under the broad umbrella of Rock spawned from the classics. The Beatles, The Who, Led Zepillin, all three of them form the building blocks of Rock, and from there more and more is made. The heavier groups broke off into Metal. Others formed punk. But to say it is uncreative, that is silly. By todays standards it is, because we have seen it before, because it existed before we were even born for the most part, but at the time, some of these bands were pretty unique.
Freddie Mercury played a grand piano on stage.
Jimmy Hendrix played a flaming guitar with his teeth.
Rick Springfeild will play his guitar with any instroment you hand him.
Its the classics that build up what you know and love. Classic rock is like your grandfather, he may seem crotchety to you, and may spend too much time talking about young romance and the war, but you still have to love him.

I love classic rock. I think it's better than todays music because the guitar riffs are harder to play and more creative.
But... think about music today. A lot of it is extremely un-creative.
listen to FOB... then Panic! at the Disco.
they sound a lot alike
creed, 3doors down, Nickleback
they also sound a lot alike
MCR, The Used, and well a lot of "screamo" bands.
and of course they all sound similar.
what I'm saying is that a lot of music is always going to be uncreative and sound the same. That's why you have to look beneath the surface and see the creativity and originality that bands have to offer.

I agree. and also... how can you call yourself a true fan of todays music when you hate where they came from?

riffinton [Rain~Bow] Ok first Classic Rock started everything for music today and alot of bands today are using the same songs or peices of songs and using it on there own songs. Plus i dont even think its Classic Rock because back then it was just Rock compared to today you have music that say they can fit under rock but dont. One more thing some "Classic Rock" i also cant stand. No, Classic Rock did NOT start everything for music today. Just like every bit of music since the begining of time, it was an important stepping stone, but I'd say jazz and rock'n'roll (50's era) established way more than, say, Lynyrd Skynyrd ever did. You think MCR, FOB, YC, A7x or 3dd became bands because of people like Louis Armstrong?? I beg to differ, but it was the greats like Lynyrd Skynyrd, Jimmy Hendrix, Black Sabbath, or whatever bands they heard growing up that insipired them.

Classic rock is how most of the bands today were inspired to even become bands.....so respect it. stare

And Lynyrd Skynyrd, Black Sabbath and Jimmy Hendrix just pulled all of that out of their musical asses, right? The roots of their music came from rock'n'roll, which came from jazz and swing. I'm not saying that they don't inspire current music, but I'm saying they were inspired by early music, too.

Dude, classic rock is awesome! Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, The Beatles, The Doors, The Rolling Stones, Janis Joplin, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, The Who, Lynyrd Skynyrd! Classic rock rocks! (And by the way, for people who say that rock sucks because they think rap is superior: Rock made rap!)

without classic rock all of todays music wouldn't have ever existed...because of all the greats like pink floyd, the beetles & the like making ground breaking leaps in their time we get the great music of today!

Umm... I made a new years resolution to listen to more undiscovered music and listen to music I hadn't listened to before and, with exceptions on Jimi Hendrix, Led Zepplin, The Who and The Ramones.... Classic rock isn't as enthusiastic as I posted in Nov. I mean, it was a building block, and a couple songs by the Beatles are cool, but I'm not the fan I used to be. ( I forgot Black Sabbath and Eric Clapton. I still like it. Just not as much.

riffinton Zipperednutz riffinton Blue Logic I can stand some of that older stuff....I adore Lynyrd Skynyrd....but alot of it.....BLARG. Id rather but shards of glass in my eye than listen to The Beatles. You'd listen to Lynyrd Skynyrd over The Beatles? Fail gonk Haha, I would pick Lynyrd Skynyrd over The Beatles any day. Seriously. Still fail.
