((hehe, I hope he doesn't do the same. I'm still unsure of her final fate in the whole ARK incident, plus theres a secret complication to that))
Lillian nodded "But, vat makes you think I am more capable than ze other new scientists? Entrusting such a amazing and complicated project to a newcomer..."

((Well, it would be interesting if we had a triangle going. *shifts eyes and grins*))
He turned back to her, as if surprised. "You know, I asked the very same thing of Dr. Robotnik. He told me that he saw the light of the future in my youthful features." He smiled. "I think that I can see the future's light in yours, too. And I can see success with your help."
((Aww, such a flatterer.))

Lillian nodded "An interesting reason, sir. I'll be here tomorrow to see ze awakening of zonic and assist if needed. For now, I need to go unpack. Goodbye!" she waved, heading back out the sliding glass door to the labs and hallways "Ze science team here has such confidence in me..." she thought, walking along and marvelling at all the amazing machines working.
((hehe, so you caught what her reason would be? she has a husband back at that village she saved. Besides, the two are always like that in the RPs, well the ones where he's around her age of course. I think its because they're so similar))

((Still, it'd be amusing.))
Miles smiled as she left, then turned to the sleeping boy again.
"Professor?"
Blinking, he turned to see a young adult cat walk up to him. "Reia, right? What is it you need?"
"Well...I finished the project you wanted me to work on." She said, holding out a folder. "This is the data on it."
"Ah, thank you." Miles said, taking it. "Good job." He smiled and placed his hand on her head. "You're learning good, my pupil."
She giggled, blushing a bit. "Thank you, Professor." She said softly, twirling a strand of her golden hair in her fingers. "Oh, is this---?"
"Yeah. That's Sonic." Miles replied, nodding. "Well, I should go join the others. Keep up the good work. Me and Gerald have much to discuss." He nodded, then walked past her, leaving the room, folder in hand.
Reia turned and watched him go, sighing. 'Oh, Professor...' She thought, her hands clapsed together. 'Will I ever be able to tell you how I feel about you?'

Lillian put a few extra outfits in her closet, finishing up making her bed. she laid on it for a bit, staring up at the ceiling. The light beaming down into her view, it reminded her of something...something she'd rather forget.
She could remember, laying in the bloody and oil-stained snow, not being able to move and hurting all over. Flames cracked and rose high around her and she was laying uncomfortably on metal debris. A few odd voices, garbled from how dazed she was, rung off in the distance, a small snow fox around her age pointing at her "You see! There she is! This one was still alive last I checked!" soon everything faded again as she lost consiousness...
Lillian rubbed her yes, sighing and sitting up "Its probly just ze stress..." she said, placing a hand on her head

A soft knocking on the door sounded and a voice said, "Ms. Kurich? We'll be eating in a half-hour, so if you want to join us I can show you the way." The voice was that of a female young adult's, and the steps were light and dainty.
-----
Miles sighed and set down his mug of cocoa, leaning back in the chair. "So, I recruited Ms. Kurich to help us. I found it a wise decision."
Raymond smiled and set down his wine glass. "Well, I suppose it's a good choice. She seems like a nice girl." He sighed and looked at Gerald. "What're your thoughts on this?"
Gerald was silent for a bit, then looked up from the report Miles had received from Reia. "Her father is well-known for success, but we'll have to see if success runs in the family. In the meantime, I want you to go to Earth and pick up something I've ordered. It's the last bit we need for Sonic's awakening."
Miles looked to the side, his expression cold. "But, it's in Station Square, which is close to the War." He said, his eyes glazing over. "Do you really want me to face that?"
"I know how you feel, Miles." Gerald said, sighing. "But, I need these components." He placed a hand on the boy's shoulder softly. "Please, don't be so stubborn."
He closed his eyes and nodded. "Alright...I'll do this favor for you." He then stood up and sighed. "When would you like me to go?"
"Tomorrow morning at the latest. You can take someone with you, if you'd like." Gerald said, standing up as well. "In the meantime, Raymond will continue his project while I tend to Maria. She's been so lonely..."
Miles nodded. "Alright. I'll talk to you later, then." He walked out and said, "I'll leave after dinner and decide who goes with me then." He walked out, the door closing behind him.

Lillian opened the door to her room, looking to the feline curiously "Oh! sure thing, miss. Lead the way" she stepped out and swiped her keycard through the slot by the door, locking it as she followed reia.

((Reia's a leopard. Guess I should make up her profile sometime, but her reference picture's on another computer.))
The young leopard smiled as she looked back at her. "Since it takes an awful long time to go there, I was asked to take you now. Oh, hello, Maria!" He said, stepping onto the platform with a little girl in blue. "I'm guessing that you've met Lillian von Kurich?"
Maria blinked and bounced a bit on her toes, making her blond hair swish to and fro. "I saw her." He replied. "But, Professor Prower didn't introduce her to me at all." He held out a hand of greeting. "Pleasure to meet you, my name is Maria Robotnik."
Reia smiled softly, watching the meeting as the transport moved on the green-light track. "Oh, look! The earth looks so beautiful from here!" He said, pointing out the view to Lillian.
Her eyes grew wistful for a bit. "Somewhere down there, Professor Miles may be losing another brother in the War..." She said softly, her eyes shaking. "It must pain him so much..." She turned away.
"If only there WAS no war, I could see his smiling face more often, hear his laughter and know what it feels like to be cheerful near him!" She cried, gripping the built-in gun, but not firing. She looked rather upset.
----------
Miles walked onto a transport leading from the labs to the mess hall and sighed, looking down as they reached the area that looked upon the earth's view. Lost in thought, he didn't realize when a pair of talkative kids bumped into him, making all three tumble down a bit. Blinking, he looked at them and smiled to see that neither was hurt, but it was a sad smile.
"Professor," One of the kids said, getting up. "How come you never smile happy?" He helped up his friend, then offered a hand to Miles, which he took.
"I guess...I just forgot how to." He said softly, looking down the earth again. "Ever since...I lost my two eldest brothers...at once." He sighed and looked at them. "You guys are lucky. You have each other, and your families. Me?" He scoffed and turned away. "I don't have anyone..."
The two boys looked at each other, then at him. "You have everyone on the ARK!" They said unison, making him look over in surprise. "Everyone treats you like a big brother on here. And we're all worried about our big brother." One of them said, holding out a thumbs-up. "And family sticks together, right?" He said, looking at him expectantly.
Miles smiled slightly, then held out a hand. "Right!" Then the three laughed for a bit before he faltered and sighed. "Thank you. I know that you were trying to cheer me up, and it worked....for a bit."
He turned away. "Leo and Geo...Thank you. Both of you." He sighed and looked at the earth again. "But...I can't help but feel a little home-sick." He smiled slightly. "I'll be going down there soon. Would you like to come along? I think I'd feel better about going, if you did." He faced them, a gentle smile on his graceful features.
"Sure! And Ms. Kurich, and, and Reia, too!" Leo cried out, making Miles chuckle a bit, then he and Geo turned to their parents. "Can we, Ma?" He asked, and Geo echoed him. "Can we?"
Their mother blinked, then nodded slowly. "Alright...but, please take care of them, Professor." She smiled softly and he nodded.
"As for Mrs. Kurich and Ms. Hones, I'll have to talk to them about that part." He said, crossing his arms. "Still...It'd be nice to have them around, to talk to."
"Awww, she's al'eady married?" Geo said, crossing his arms behind his head. "'Hat's too bad...."
Miles blinked. "Well, we can't help that. Besides, you haven't even met her and you're already crushing?" He crossed his eyes. "You guys are too weird."
"No, not us!" Leo piped up. "It's too bad for you, we mean!" Geo nodded. "Af'er all...she's very pweeeeeeetty."
"Alright, you two knock it off." Miles said, shaking his head. "I haven't found that kind of interest in anyone, yet. I haven't had the time to go looking." He looked over his shouldfer as the transport neared it's stop. "And here is where this conversation ends so that you guys can go eat." He said, stepping off it and walking off to join the scientists at their table.

Lillian grabbed her by the shoulder, shaking her head gently "Please, calm down. At least not in front of ze kid..." she said, motioning to maria "I may sound a bit...cold...but zese things happen miss.....theres not much we can do." she stepped off the transport, looking around the new section a bit before walking into the dining area and taking a seat, away from the others however. Lillian was a pretty solitary person...

Miles looked over at Lillian as she sat down and said, "Excuse me. Something has come to my attention." The others nodded and he walked over to join her. "Hello, Lillian."
Reia looked up as he left the table and sighed. Was he starting to like Lillian? Did that mean she had no chance? Picking at her food timidly, he said nothing.

He smiled a bit and said, "Professor Robotnik has asked me to go retreive a few things from Earth. I was wondering if you'd like to come with me?" He asked, getting straight to the point. "As well as you, if you agree, we will be bringing two boys I know, Leo and Geo, and Ms. Reia Hones, if she agrees." He took a bite of his food, letting her think or reply.

"After dinner." He replied, then looked over to see Reia going to join them. "Ah, Ms. Hones. May I have a word?" He asked, and she nodded slightly, sitting down with her food.
"Alright...what is it?" She asked, blinking a bit. What could he want her to do now?
"I'm going to go down to Earth with Lillian Kurich, Leo and Geo. Would you like to join us?" He asked, smiling softly.
"I'd be happy to...but why? I thought...you didn't like to go there..." She said softly, looking to the side slightly.
"Professor Robotnik wishes for me to go and retrieve something for him from there." He explained. "It shouldn't take too long, and we're due to leave after dinner, if you'll join us."
"Oh! I'll go with you, Professor!" She said happily. Finally he was willing to take her on those trips he sometimes made! As she was a young child when the ARK was made, she didn't remember much of Earth.
He nodded. "Thank you." He said softly, as if just having them there made him feel better about what he knew lay down below.
