Kryssik's tail lashed behind him like a hooked fish as she came at him again and fell into a defensive stance, ready to deal with her. Though he'd initially been shocked at his sudden rough treatment of the smaller female, part of him had hoped she would pursue it further and make a huge donnybrook out of their spat.

Part of him wanted very badly to put her in her place...this was not her house, this was not her food she was eating, this was not her furniture that she was sleeping on. It was time she respected that and realized she was, though an unwelcome one, a guest in his home.

Part of him NEEDED to fight with her like this, before the tension mounted any further. Better to do it now before it led to an even bigger fight later that might result in one or both of them dead.

As the brown's slight form collided with him, he grappled for either of her wrists to keep her claws out of striking distance, his teeth bared and his head held back slightly to keep her from striking him again. This WOULD be settled.

Kapote struggled, finding both of her wrists entrapped as the two of them collided. "Let me go!" she demanded, thrashing first one way and then the other. When Kryssik's hold was unrelenting on her, she did the next thing she could think to and whipped her head to the side, sinking her small, even, teeth into his wrist.

Drawing his breath in over his teeth in a pained hiss, Kryssik reflexively let go of one of her hands which immediately made itself into a defiant fist and began beating on his chest, shoulders, and everywhere else it could reach.

Angry or not, he was still reluctant to flat-out attack her. That reluctance, however, dissolved itself as her fist smashed across his already-tender nose, making tears spring to the corners of his eyes.

Rearing back, he took a swipe at her middle with one clawed paw.

Kapote dodged backward, but not quick enough to avoid being grazed by his sharp claws. A few hairline scratches were made on her hide and a thin line of blood was drawn, but not much more. It stung, but was nowhere near debilitating.

And she was not about to let him have the upper hand, either. As he came in low for a lunge, she stepped to the side and groped behind her for something to use as a weapon. Her claws closed around something hard and round...one of the spice bowls.

As Kryssik recovered from the inertia of his initial lunge and darted in to take another swing at her, she took a swing of her own.

**THWOCK**

Kryssik stopped short and staggered backwards as his vision was suddenly dazzled by red stars. The spice bowl had struck him squarely over the ridge of his right eye and, for the moment, the fight deflated out of him as both hands went to the forming gooseegg bruise to clasp over it and his mouth hung slightly open in what would have been a cry of pain if he were able.

As the red stars turned to a gray haze, he bit his tongue to keep himself aware. No. He was NOT going to faint and give her the satisfaction. And who knew what she'd do once he was unconscious, for that matter?? Leaning heavily against one of the barrels for support, he glared at her reproachfully through the other good eye that was not in the process of swelling over.

Kapote was still, poised to attack, another spice bowl already clutched in her fist as she watched him warily, waiting for him to come at her again. When it seemed that Kryssik genuinely was done fighting, her arm lowered....lowered.....and then reluctantly set the spice bowl aside.

For a long moment she simply watched as he nursed his eye and then sighed, crossing the room. For the life of her, no matter how angry she got, she still couldn't live with herself if she felt she'd caused someone unnecessary damage.

Reaching out, her face still stern, she moved to pull Kryssik's paws away from his forehead.

"Let me see."

It was not a request, it was a command.

Kryssik turned petulantly away from her, still stubbornly keeping his claws interlaced over his swelling eye. Hadn't she done enough? Why the hell did she need to -see- the damage? Just what he needed....to be insulted, attacked, and now gloated over and humiliated in his own lair.

Gods, why didn't she just go away? He wasn't precisely HAPPY before she came, but he had certainly been a lot happier than he was now. He felt her fingers fumbling over his own and quickly disengaged one hand from guarding his bruise to swat her away.

He wanted his living room back, he wanted his lab back, he wanted his LIFE back, damn it!

"You're just going to--stop that! If you--" Kapote tried to get a complete thought out as she was swatted at. "Krys, cut it out! Stop being a baby!" It WAS like dealing with a big dracling...oyy. It was times like this she wished the green wasn't mute as it would make things much easier for her. It would certainly make it harder for him to hide so much from her.

She still had no idea what had sparked his disdain for her...for the first two or three days she'd stayed, he'd had no trouble with her. He'd been a little fidgety, but otherwise cordial. After that, though, he'd been on a steady downhill decline, becoming less and less like the friendly dragon that had invited her to stay and more like some angry old man who was being forced into a situation he didn't like.

And she was tired of it. It was absolutely ridiculous.

"I said let me SEE!" she snapped, managing to get ahold of one wrist, the one she'd bitten not long ago, and wrestle it away from his forehead.

As one paw was wrested from the protective embrace he had on his forehead, Kryssik seemed to give up the ghost and simply flung his other hand aside too, presenting his "war wound" for her perusal and punctuating that he was fed up by repeated gestures toward it, as though saying "There! THERE!! Are you satisfied now??"

The bruise was already an ugly shade of purple against his green skin and in the middle of the swelling, the skin had split slightly and bled a bit. Most certainly, by tomorrow morning, his eye would be swollen shut and blackened entirely.

Watching her eyes widen in reaction to being shown the damage, he curled one lip in disgust and moved to brush past her and leave. He didn't have a particular destination in mind as long as it was 'away'. He'd had enough.

"Kryssik? Hey, don't walk away from me!" she called out at his retreating back as he stormed out of the kitchen. Kapote, inwardly, felt awful. She hadn't meant to do THAT much of a number on him. Then again, she hadn't meant for the two of them to come to blows either.

She caught up with him just as he was flinging aside the brown skin curtain to leave into the main cavern and took hold of his shoulders to keep him from going further. "C'mon, wait!" she implored.

He whirled on his heel, drawing one arm back as though to swipe at her again, though his movements were tired and his features in general didn't look as etched in anger as they had during the fight.

Anger was an emotion Kryssik didn't cling very well to at all. He could be annoyed for long periods of time, he could be resentful, but being flat-out angry was something that he was uncomfortable with...it was a very draining emotion as the altercation in the kitchen had just proved.

His eyes did the speaking for him, no signing needed:

What -now-??

Kapote flinched backward, thinking he was about to try and rekindle the fight. When the clawed hand didn't fall, though, she relaxed.

Despite the fact he'd brought this on himself...
Despite the fact she still felt perfectly justified in her outburst...
Despite the fact that he was STILL being unreasonable...

"I'm sorry." she said aloud, lowering her eyes. "I had no place to do that. I didn't mean to hurt you so badly." Somehow she felt like this was the only way she was going to get through to him -- to let him be right in this particular instance.

At this, Kryssik drew back slightly, confused. He'd been prepared for more demands...more insistances that he do what she say. He hadn't been ready for her to acknowledge that he was right. For just a moment, he found himself too stunned to react and did little more than stand in the doorway, claws still poised in a now-useless strike, and staring at her in perplexion.

Why did females have to be so confusing...?

Using his indecision to her advantage, Kapote took Kryssik by the arm that wasn't still lingering in the air and tugged him back away from the curtain.

"Come back inside?" she asked. "I can at least -try- and do something about your eye for you before it gets much worse...if we don't take the swelling down, you might need to cut it and drain it later." She wasn't sure if this group of dragons had a healer among them or not, but between the two of them, there were only bruises and scratches...those were easily mended without outside help, provided Kryssik wanted to be cooperative.

Kryssik reluctantly allowed himself to be led back indoors, though, after a moment, his attention was no longer on Kapote and what she was saying...his attention was moreso on a strange scent that was in the air. Something acrid and pungeant.

He was also aware that thin flags of smoke were beginning to curl out from behind the curtain that closed off the kitchen. One eye wandered down to Kapote questioningly.

....had she forgotten something, perhaps...?
