While I'm vehmenetly pro-choice, abortion isn't something I could do my self. Adoption... well my S.O. wouldn't go for that. I'd face up to the responcibity. We might not be happyabout it, but we'd do it. I don't hate children, I just don't want any, so if it happend, the kid wouldn't be getting stiffed in the love department.

Yes, even thought it's not realy likely for me to get pregnant, we've had that conversation. And even though we're monogamous, and I'm supposed to be medicaly unable, we still use contraceptives.

Never hurts to be carefull.

gonk MPreg! I have friends that are hardcore into it. They scare the crap out of me... It's like what's the point to BL? One of the characters just got turned into a woman anyway. Well, sort of...

As to what'd happen if I got pregnant? Hello abortion. Me bearing child = hell no.

What scares me to the most is thinking how I'd ge pregnant. Being a lesbian doesn't really lead to unwanted pregnancy. @_@
One of the best perks of being a lesbian. 3nodding

Oh, definitely. That and not having to worry about anyone leaving the toilet seat up.
And your partner actually understands when you're bitchy for one week a month.

Me? In my current state of mind I'd do everything possible to kill the ******** parasite. But I doubt I'll get pregnant any time soon (I'm looking more for a Girlfriend, then a boyfriend at the moment).

However, if someday, for some reason I have no idea why, I might want to carry through with the pregnancy and then probably keep the thing.

<.<;; But I'm a LONG way from WANTING a child, or have the mind set to CARE for the brats. mad Children are just plain evil.

So girls, here's the big question. (Guys too, to some degree)

If it happened, what would you do?

I mean, you can never really know what you would do for sure, but you can have a pretty good idea, right? So if you (or your girlfriend, for the guys out there) got pregnant, what would you do?

I can be quite sure that I wouldn't keep the kid. I know that for a fact. I couldn't afford it, couldn't handle it... but I don't know how I'd 'get rid of it', so to speak. Abortion, adoption? I don't know. I'd like to think I'd go through with the pregnancy and give it up for adoption, but what if I couldn't afford to do even that? I don't have any sort of huge moral issue with abortion, but I do know that it causes massive amounts of psychological, and potentially physical, strain on the woman, and is never something that should be taken lightly. But I might do it, if the issue ever comes up.

(Not that it's likely to. I'm not sexually active and never have been, except with a member of my same gender. I have no desire to be, either. So I doubt pregnancy is anything I'll have to worry about -- but again, you never know. So it's something I think about often, just in case.)

What about you?

It did happen to me, in June of 2001. I followed it up quickly with an abortion because I'm 100% committed to being CF. Anything else, and I wouldn't have been CF, only childless. Those who choose adoption are birthparents, and I don't want any part of being a parent in any fashion.

BTW, abortion only causes massive amounts of psychological strain on women who never wanted their abortions because they feel they are immoral, but were forced into them for whatever reason. People like me who really don't care, no biggie. If you haven't seen it yet, I'm Not Sorry is a great website. It's giving a voice to the majority of sane women who get ignored when the unstable minority is screaming that abortions caused all their problems, etc, when if you were to look at their history they already had issues.

Go straight to planned parenthood. No questions asked. No, I probably wouldn't have heavy emotional pain from it, since I know it's just a wad of cells and if I gave it up for adoption then it'd probably stay there for life or go into an abusive home. If I kept it, then, lets just say I would beat Britney Spears for worst mother in the world. lol

The only thing about the abortion route is that moral and ethical issues aren't the only things working against you. There are psychological and physiological repercussions that accompany abortion, such as this: where do all those hormones that are starting to be released go when there's no baby left for them to be around for? Your body is overloaded with hormones when you're pregnant because it needs to change quite a bit to be suitable as a host for a foetus. So when the foetus is aborted, it causes those hormones to be thrown out of whack for a long while. (Which is also true when a foetus is aborted naturally, by misarriage -- the vast majority of pregnancies end in a miscarriage before the woman even knows she's pregnant.) But, basically put, your psychological and physiological wellbeing suffers. It's something that you have to keep in mind, even if you don't believe that there's anything morally wrong with abortion (which is a view I share entirely).

This doesn't happen to all women, just some. The same women that go through their hormones being thrown out of whack for a long while will go through the same thing if they give birth. My hormones were only thrown out of whack for a week, then they balanced out. Brooke Shields suffered Post Partum Depression after giving birth, but she probably would have gone through the same hell had she aborted. Everyones physiology is different, but they should never let such a fear cause them to have an unwanted child simply because they fear something rare MIGHT happen. If it does, they simply need to surround themselves with emotionally supportive people.

I run one of the few truly supportive and non-judgemental pre- and post-abortion support groups out there. abortion celebration - where we celebrate having the RIGHT to choose, no matter what the choice I find it interesting that those who have adopted out and aborted regret choosing adoption more.

I'd feel guilty about aborting under any surcumstances other then rape.

But why? Why wouldn't you also feel guilty in that situation? I don't mean to put you on the spot, but that has always bothered me when someone who is anti-choice uses that argument, so seeing it from someone who is CF confuses me even more.

You shouldn't have to feel guilty about it in ANY situation. It's no where near as bad as killing a sentient animal for food, and this is coming from someone who eats meat.

Just because I'd feel like I should face up to the responsiblity if the child was a result of my own actions where as rape would be against my will and I wouldn't feel like I was obligated since it wasn't my fault I got knocked up. And I'm not anti choice, abortion just isn't for me personally.

I'm fine with the pro-choice but not being personally okay with abortion. I'm just confused about why one who views a fetus from consensual sex being more deserving of life than one that was a result of rape. I'm not here to attack you for it, but I want to understand it. I've always thought that if one viewed it as a child and they felt it was wrong for themselves that it would apply in all situations.

I'm not sure if I'm explaining myself right, so if you want me to clarify better, just say so...

It's more a matter of personal responisbilty for me then a right to life. If I had the casual sex I should face up to the consequences of that action. However, if I was raped, then the consequences where not of my making and therefore I would not feel guilty avoiding them.

Going through pregnancy is FAR more dangerous than having an abortion.

I've had one, and it was nothing... much better than getting wisdom tooth taken out, that's for SURE. And it was more stressful to get the wisdom tooth out too.

gonk Just the fact of have something leeching off of my innards is disgusting. Like a leech, a parasite. If that ever happened to me, I'd reach in there and rip it out myself, then take antibacterials forever just because I would feel icky. Oh...Clorox. Probably douse myself in Clorox a couple times to...swallow some...hell why not...

Ack...Having OCD sucks...rubbing alcohol becomes your best friend. I can't even imagine being pregnant. I would shoot myself. gonk

As soon as I knew I was preggers I'd scamper off to the nearest abortion clinic and get the damned parasite outta my system!

First stop: The "pregnancy crisis center". Because I've always wanted to go 'n hassle 'em.
Second stop: The closest abortion clinic.

Well, it's unlikely (yay perks of being a lesbian!) but if it did...I have no idea. Abortion, maybe.
