I know I haven't updated this lately... Not much to really tell about.
All this week I had been nervous about becoming an adult wyrm, as the releases happen once every three months (two releases on each release date (Equinox/Solstice)) and it is a first come first serve thing... 100 people, 70 total wyrms to buy, 5 of each... This is per release.
Anyway, yesterday was the hatching, the grand event I speak of, and when I came on at 6:30AM SLT (same as PST) for the 12 noon release, I had found people were camping this thing from Thursday. I was a little worried when my mate (Ferryn Myriam, also has a Gaia account, Ferryn) hadn't arrived when I did, as when it hit 100 people, they locked the sim from overcrowding, but she came on about an hour later than I did... I was worried as I was paying for her wyrm as well, as it would be neat for us as a couple to become wyrms together
razz Well, for the next few hours we sat, talking along with the crowd (this was when I found out Ferryn had a Gaia account), there were raffles and prizes (I had won a gift certificate for a free wyrmling av for knowing a bit of trivia about the history of the creation of these avatars)
Sometime in the middle of the wait, Daryth Kennedy (the "Great Hedgewyrm," creator of these avatars among others, and organizer of the hatchings and such) put out a "red cube" object, and put it on sale for $L1.
She did this and told us all that we might wanna buy a copy of this cube so that she would have our name on the sale file so that she could confirm we were at the hatching should the sim crash (It was a new sim, this was the very first hatching taking place in the sim, so noone knew how it was going to hold up).
Well, fastforward to about 11:50AM SLT... sim been holding up very well, surprising even the staff... 11:55, I brought up my buy menu on the egg vendor that held the wyrm of my choosing (Astral), then waited with the box ready to pay the egg $L3500... 12:00, Daryth said go, I clicked pay...
"The action you have taken has been timed out,
Please try again in a minute."
I was frustrated, and tried again... With the same result... But then I heard promise for my end... Noone else had gotten one either, it seemed this was a problem, and sure enough the sim crashed shortly after. It crashed so hard that some people couldn't log back into SL for a full 45 minutes...
Amid the confusion I was sent to mine and Ferryn's cheap little apartment (fancy box in the sky) and you can tell I was quite irritated... Shortly after Ferryn joined me, and I was also being flooding with IM's, as if I knew anything...
After hearing some promising news, we went to the sim "Limbo" the main sim of the Isle of Wyrms (Where all the previous hatchings have taken place) and it turns out, only so many of us followed the instruction to buy a red cube... Ferryn and myself included...
Everyone who bought a cube was simply invited into the group you are invited into when you buy the wyrm, and we were allowed to buy our wyrms from the regular vendors, at the discounted price you are given for them after one already has a wyrm (for being in the group).
How's that for luck... Now all I have to do is find my shade of blue, and continue on.
