Surprisingly, I agree. I mean, I am 100% against premarital sex, but my thoughts have always been do with your own body as you wish.

Everyone else basically already covered it...

Do with your body as you wish... except before marriage. But presumably you've considered how legal prostitution will draw people OUT of martial bonds to have sex with others, yes? If you truly hold marriage important and consider it a sexual restraint, why do you support this?

Anyway, I say legalize. For ******** sake, I don't care who has sex with who, and really, it's not a pleasant job - they should actually GET the money they work for. That, and pimps need to be removed from the picture entirely - they are an entirely negative impact.
I think Liz meant she was personally against premarital sex but wouldn't stop someone else from having it.

@Cougar - I haven't met anyone like that, but considering humanity these days I wouldn't be suprised.

Ah, my mistake then.

I agree.

But you should also have the right NOT to become a prostitute. If you grow up and your mom is a prostitute, and there are pimps around (who often coerce girlfriends and young teens into prostitution), it blurs the line between voluntary prostitution and sexual subjugation/abuse.

Additionally, please look at the amount of people who are sold into sexual slavery (including male and female children) each year all over the world.

I agree but not whole heartedly. I don't think there is a need for prostitution at all. Women used to do it back in the "olden days" because they thought they needed money desperately...alot of prostitutes do it to feed their drug addictions. I don't care if the woman is poor or has no qualifications..work in a supermarket or somewhere..there is always work for someone, you don't need to turn to prostitution.
However, because there is no way prostitution will ever stop, I think that it should be legalised but controlled. Their should be health checks, and you should only be allowed to do service in a brothel or other building of the same purposes, that way the prostitutes are safe from harm, they will get regular checkups, and other people don't need to see them or stumble across one in a dark alley when you had no intention of doing so.

I wish sometimes that some men would go to prostitutes more often so that they don't use women as much...and likewise for the women who just use men for sex...at least that way you could own up to the fact that you like sex freely, rather than pretending you don't sleep around...I'd respect someone slightly more for owning up and seeing a prostitute...

Both of my parents were laid off at some point, and both tried to find new jobs. Months on average passed before my mother could find a job, and the same went for my father.

I was recently looking for a job for myself. The local supermarket (like your example) is known for giving teens psrt-time jobs. I filled out an application there, went in for an interview, and was blown off. (And no, my interview wasn't horrible.) In fact, if my mother wasn't working at this company now I'd have still have no job.

While none of us turned to prostitution, my point is that employment isn't as easy as you make it out to be. Even if it's "working in the supermarket or something."

Besides, not all prostitution is out of necessity. I know at least one person who was a sex worker and enjoyed her job. While that doesn't mean every prostitute on earth loves what they're doing, the reverse isn't true either.

maybe getting a job isn't always easy...but I'm sure that there must be something somewhere that meant someone wouldn't have to resort to prostitution.
I still sort of think of it as "dirty"...which is mainly because of the way sex is sold by women walking on the street. If it was in a brothel or something I probably wouldn't think of it the same.
