I think both should be offically named "real boys" angel because of the suffering he had to go through and spike because he helped angel quite abit

Angel should be a real boy because he's worked harder and longer to redeem himself than Spike. He went through more Hell than Spike.

If they were human, they wouldn't have their supernatural powers as they do as vampires. I think Angel did right by not excepting to be human as he did. I also think Spike would do the same thing. They couldn't help as many people as they do as vampires.
I do, however, think Angel deserves to be made human more than Spike, b/c he's been "helping the helpless" longer than Spike. We saw Spike more as evil than is good, so we can't exactly think of him the same of we think of Angel.
It's a very good question.

TheBurklePersona Personally, I think Spike would be happy remaining a vampire. I don't think he sees his redemption as becoming human again. He didn't really like being human in the first place. (Dru "saved" him from a life of mediocrity, and all that.) I think if Spike were to find redemption, he would want something different. He only wanted to fulfill the prophecy because Angel wanted it, and he wanted to spite Angel. Besides, I think Spike - being the writer that he is - would find it more poetic to be a vampire with a soul. Angel wants to be human again, and he's done more good, comparatively. Spike only recently got his soul back, and I think it would be a long time until he worked off his "debt" to humanity, so to speak. I agree completely...As Angel himself said, Spike spent a few weeks in a basement and now he's all fine and dandy? Angel spent decades fighting his own person demons(literal and metephorical) and earning his redemption. Honestly I think he just wants to grow old and die, but his duty binds him to being a champion *sigh*

No doubt about it Spike deserves to be a real boy. I think he went through way more then Angel did. I mean look at all the things he went through for Buffy! His love to her alone show that he is the champion and that he should be a real human

Spike, without a doubt. Spike changed, worked very hard to become better, even without a soul. He fought very hard to get his soul back. Not only because of Buffy, but because of what he realised about what he was. What he'd done. He gained a moral compass, of sorts, at least partly on his own. He seemed to forget that he was a vampire at least twice. In Tabula Rasa, and when he went to pick up a cross when he was with Dawn. Even with magic erasing their memories, you'd think Spike would know he was a vampire. There was no doubt everyone else knew they were human. He'd been a vampire longer then any of them'd been alive. You also would think he'd kind of remember what things would hurt him. I think he'd be the better candidate for it overall. whee
Angel, on the other hand, would never have done the same thing. When he had no soul, he showed no inclination to change at all. He had to be cursed to get his soul back. Granted, it was an entirely different story when he did have his soul, but my point stands.

I honestly think Spike would be better. Not because I hate Angel (Which I do long story with that) I just think Spike would be a better man. Angel was going for the good ole Irish drunk, and Spike was a good fellow. I think they both deserve it in one way or another. But Spike...

It's a hard decision because they are both so very different, both as Vampires and as humans and they both did their share of good work.
Angel: Angel may not have chosen to have his soul given back but he made the most of it. He worked selfishlessly for years to earn the right to be human and never bragged about his accomplishments or his effort. However, you could argue that Angel was working for himself more than anything as he was helping people to become human (though discounted in the last episode, speaking of which technically Angel can never get it now, right?)
Spike: Spike worked for his soul. He chose to have it, which meant that he had some sort of good in him even as a demon. He also was very different from other vampires because he had the abililty to love even without a soul. Look at Angelus' relationships with Dru and Darla. None of them were meaningful, but Spike loved Dru and then loved Buffy. Spike wasn't particularly interesting in becoming human but still helped people out at first this was just for Buffy but he knew when to let go and carried on with Angel helping people leaving Buffy alone.
I guess I can't answer the question...both deserve it.

definately Angel. i mean, i am one of the biggest spike fans out there, but out of the deserving, Angel takes the cake. Angel wanted to be good no matter if Buffy was around or not. Spike's beginning motivation to be "not evil" was because he realized he had the hots for buffy. and even after that, he still wasn't very good. he got better but then he would get worse (ie trying to rape buffy was WAY worse).

I think Spike just want to be the vampire mention in the shanshu prophcey so he can be turned human just for Buffy,so that they can finally be together.True love right there heart

I'll go with Angel in 3 because I know him little from his own series. We all wanted Angel and Buffy to live together happily, but the vamp. thing was the issue so I choose that.
