((Dearest Christophe... you just do not realize the full extent of my family's power in the region old friend... My grandparents moved from Boone... I have extended family EVERYWHERE up here. Who needs your connections when I've got mine? And yes, DU ammunition is very overkill. Quite ridiculous actually. But yes, that M1A1 WOULD be here rather quickly... it's called an air drop pal... and my cousins could do the entire operation on their own... privately owned equipment... ahh the luxuries of having fanatical family... mrgreen ))

((In the context of the sentence, by "fanatical" do you actually mean "retarded?" Next, air drops would still take time, especially considering the plane that would be required to drop such a thing. Grandparents moved from Boone? Dude, you realize my family has been living around here since they moved here? That was about 200 years ago and we are still here. Considering DUs are also not only overkill, but they are also quite harmful to the environment.))

((Do you have any idea of what a DU does? It works in the same fashion as a "cop killer" bullet. It hits and drills and on top of that, melts the surface of the target so it goes in smooth and comes out a mesh. That is just one side of your family dude. My grandmother on my dad's side is full blood cherrokee and my grandfather's side of the family came over around the same time as your mom's side did. The Becks and Clarks came from Germany and Scotland around 200 years ago.
Eh, tanks were only fun in the 1940s, I would like to see what a military can do without tanks and planes.))

((You do realize that my dad's side of the family is a bunch of whorebags... right? I've got a SERIOUSLY spread family on that side... I'd just run to tennessee... I've got so much family there on his side... OR I could run to NY and get my uncle to fly me to Russia... my uncle's in the mafia... he's head of the St. Petersburg cell and he does lots of business in NY. I've got an entire ARMY of relatives waiting in the Tennessee side of the mountains. Yes Christophe, I KNOW how DU's work... I AM a military history madman you know... especially with WWII and modern warfare. Do you even know what the M830A1 round IS? Quite a nasty bugger, the HEAT is. Oh well... and yes, tanks got old... but I think they're just the modern version of the cavalry... as well as the helicav units. ALSO, the US Navy still packs enough punch to open a can of whoopass anywhere on earth. And with tanks do you mean ALL armor? Like mobile artillery? Mobile artillery makes everything so much more fun! Besides... our infantry aren't that well equipped... did you hear about that law that congress passed saying that soldiers couldn't wear privately owned body armor into battle anymore? How retarded is that? Our government can't provide all the body armor, and they make it illegal to use non-G.I. armor... how DUMB!!!))

((YOU sir, are out of line! I'm offended by that remark... my dad's family isn't even FROM the South. What are they going to do??? I'll tell you... they'll come over with their RIFLES and their MACHINE GUNS... I've got more than fifty cousins in the Armed Forces... and I'm DAMNED sure your grandmother couldn't take even ONE of them. And flesh can't stop a bullet geneous... of COURSE regular infantry need armor... snipers, no... scouts, no... drivers, pilots, and captains... no... but the grunts... people fighting on the ground... doing the dirty work... THEY are the ones that need armor... my cousin Brandon went to Iraq and went a year and a half without getting shot... he was one of the best... but he got shot... he took a bullet to the chest... he's alive, yeah, but he can't fight anymore... they won't let him... so yeah... the infantry NEED armor.))

One must know the possible consequences for actions that are undertaken. Next, depending on the ammo and weapon, nothing would have stopped that shot. He is quite lucky that he lives still. Next, my great grandmother is a sharpshooter. Don't think for a second that she couldn't take out anyone of your cousins. And do you honestly think I am in the afraid, in the least, of a gun? You would be quite mistaken to think so. I am worse fears than of a weapon. If you have to fight with a weapon to beat someone, you aren't worth that much as a soldier in the first place.
Lastly, I am sorry for any remarks you think were offensive. Scouts need more armor considering they are out ahead of the others. They aren't scouts for nothing. Next, snipers shouldn't because they are long rangers and shouldn't be seen in the first place. Drivers may, pilots no, captains probably not. Finally! You realize this buddy, if you are going to fight for something, you MUST expect to die. Do you know why Sun Tzu was a great tactician? Do you know why 300 Spartans could hold of thousands of Persians? It is the same reason a cornered fox is more dangerous than someone with a gun.))

((Christophe... you must realize the stupidity in bringing a knife to a gunfight... yes, I realize that being in the army, you must expect to die... everyone dies sometime... but that does not mean that you can't at least take measures to preserve your life as much as possible... Scouts do not use armor at all, for lack of mobility that comes with it... pilots use it and need it most because of the weapons that are being fired at them, captains may need it, depending on the situation of battle... Naval captains, not at all, and as for your grandmother... I'm sure she couldn't outrange an M81A3 Anti-tank sniper rifle that my cousin Phillip uses... he's let me shoot it before... and it's a beast. Whatever rifle your grandmother wants to use... it can never have the range or accuracy of that rifle... and it's illegal to be owned by civilians... You must realize... with the technology of today, without a weapon, a soldier isn't going to last long... I'd like to see a thousand spartans take one one squad of marines... damn, let my cousins do the job. Phillip could kill every last one of them before they even knew he was there. All they would know is that a loud thunder would come and another few men would fall... that rifle rips through flesh like a white hot knife through butter. Brandon is... was a support gunner in the marines... he used a M249 MKII SAW... Jonathan was Jonathan... he really didn't use a gun... he used a radio... he was an artilleryman. Lucas was a regular rifleman... but he wasn't a marine... he was an Army Ranger... he used an M-4 A2... I got to use that one too... quite awesome. And a cornered fox couldn't kill a man from 2000 yards away in less than a second with no more sound than a whisper. My friend, you've much to learn about the art of the gun.))

Next, you never hunted a fox before....with your reasoning, I wouldn't suggest doing it either. Lastly, you are only speaking of the technology and nothing of skill. It is nothing to pull a trigger, nothing to hit a button. Our tanks do more work than the men inside them. It takes skill to use an aircraft, nothing to drive a tank. If you set a marine and a Spartan on a battlefield with only knives, that marine would have lost his head in a heartbeat. We don't train men for real situations, we only train them for ideal situations. As far as skill goes, a marine is as well trained as a newborn child in comparison to the ancient spartans. 300 marines would not have been able to hold off so many Persians given the circumstances. I speak of skill, not technology. A marine is a man with a better gun and some extra training. They are nothing more than a shock trooper, and as far as I am concerned, that is all they should be used for unless given proper speciality training(sniper for instance). In other words, as far as marines VS. army goes, I find the army to be better.

((Chris, don't talk about things you don't understand. Marines are given such intense hand-to-hand training that they could take on ANY of those middle age bastards you want. I can guarantee you that Brandon could kick your a** in a knife fight with one hand. Of course, he has an advantage anyways... he's used knives all his life. So yeah, the military isn't as pitiful as you would think Chris. What was a Spartan but a man with better equipment and better technique? The men who fight on the front have to have skills to fight in ANY condition... with or WITHOUT a rifle. My uncle Thomas could cut a watermelon into one-inch slices in thirty seconds. I timed him. He's a marine. Jonathan doesn't even use a gun... doesn't even carry one. He's got a Bowie knife that he can cut just about anything with. It's not like the men in the military today don't know how to fight just because they've got a gun. The gun is just to guarantee that they won't get shot because the other guy has a gun. You just need to meet my cousin Jonathan. He can do crazy things with his knife. Trust me man... a soldier isn't as helpless as you think.))

((A spartan would be trained from the day they hit 7 years old, or when they are capable of carrying a weapon. A marine is trained from the age of 18. You want to know what a spartan warrior was? A Spartan was the cream of the crop that could sweep the floor with a marine any day of the week. A real Bowie knife is a ******** short sword buddy. What Jonathan has is probably a butter knife in comparison....well it is still a Bowie. Got to love Bowie. ohhhh, cut a watermelon that fast in that small of chunks? Why do you think that they go in as vanguard and the actually army stays in and mops up and does the real work?
And what exactly is the main weapon of the common soldier in modern times? Is it a tank, a gun, a knife, a button? Hmmmm? Of course tactics still come into play, but not so much as they used to. A soldier is never helpless, however, technology has made man into lazy beasts. A man in today's time would rather pull a trigger than to slid a blade into someone in a real test of skill. They would rather push a button instead of fight someone with their fists. In the end, I suppose I don't like today's age of war being so impersonal. No feeling.))

David Bowie was one of the greatest knife fighters EVER. No, he uses a REAL Bowie knife a*****e. And, just to let you know, EVERY soldier is issued a knife... NOT all of them are issued firearms. So until you actually speak to someone whose been there... who's watched a man die at his hand, shut the hell up and don't say another word on the subject.))
