Hi, I'm new. Here on Gaia people call me EJ. I rarely give out my real name.
I have a passion for these books bordering on an obsession, but that's a good thing because I'm writing my senior thesis on HDM.
I'm also a fan of Garth NIx, Neil Gaiman, Robin McKinley, and Mercedes Lackey in the fantasy arena. I love medieval literature like Beowulf, and I'm intellectually in love with John Milton, Geoffery Chaucer, and every once in a while I get a spark of extreme joy from John Donne.
I'll probably be flitting around asking if anyone knows where to find odd resources and picking up on new ways to interpret the books.

Hi! I'm Moro-moro, but lots of people call me Min-chan or Mit-chan, so that's alright, and two less characters to type.
I love the series to pieces, and I will eternally worship the teacher who got me into the series. (She gave me the first one as a Christmas present a bit back.)
I haven't read Lyra's Oxford yet, either... I want to really bad, though.

I'm olive17 (just calling me Olive is better) HDM has been my favorite series ever since I read the Golden Compass that my brother gave me for Christmas a few years back. Actually I think it was my birthday, always get them mixed up. XD Haven't seen the Golden Compass movie yet, crying but I can't wait to.

Hello, Yes I'm new. I've seen the movie, The Golden Compass, but haven't read any of the books. I decided to join because of my interest in daemons, and would like to talk more about it. I'm currently haunting a forum + website called the Daemon Page, or the Daemon Forum. [ http://daemonpage.com/forums/index.php ] Everyone has a daemon! You can't just 'get' one, because they've been there since birth. Okay, daemons, like Pullman's series, are a representation of your soul. They can sometimes be called your concience, or higher-self, at least in the same form of communication between them. In the same fashion, it is possible to project your daemon. It is basically just imagining them. And if you really think about it, the imaginary friend you had follow you around as a child, was very probably your daemon. It is a bit different than the series, as daemons are not physical. But they are still there. As a child, my daemon followed me in the form of a dog, either a black and white herding dog type (either an english shepherd, border collie, etc) or a german shepherd mix. Would follow allow and race the car, jumping on buildings and other car roofs and running at top speed along side the window. He didn't really much have a name. Now, he very much likes the form of an eurasian otter, even though he still loves the mobility of that black and white dog. I'm 21, and We're still unsettled. I think it has to do with my inability or desire to let go of the child in me, I'm too immature, even though I can be serious at serious times. But sometimes refuse too twisted . Yes, and his name is Mordechai <3. But yes, there's our intro. Do check out both of these websites, and meet your daemons if you haven't already!! www.daemons.envy.nu http://daemonpage.com/forums/index.php

Hello! Nice to meet you all. Shall I introduce myself? Well, my name's Kira. I've only recently read Philip Pullman's trilogy and loved it. There are so many philosophical and scientific references! I loved the books all the more since I'm studying philosophy on my last year at school. I'm also especially fond of the idea of daemons. I haven't seen the movie yet, for I've been too busy the last few days to even go out for a walk. I haven't read Lyra's Oxford either, since they didn't publish it in Russia (I hope they will!).

'Ello there!
The name's Bernadette, and recently I've finished reading all of His Dark Materials after being captivated with The Golden Compass movie and Lyra's world. I really like the concept of having daemons, and I'm also thinking a roleplay based on the books would be fun... that is, if I can find one. One-on-one's are fine, too.
Actually, this is my search thread: c l i c k
I took the daemon quiz on the Golden Compass movie site, and I got Archeleron the Mouse. (I got a spider at first, but I wouldn't allow that, heh..) I think it's pretty accurate, due to my somewhat shy nature. :3 But I'm also a friendly fella'.

My name's Meg but most people call me Panda- Go figure, hey?
I'm an obsessive fan of HDM- to the point that I own two copies of each book one in hardcover and one in soft. It's great to be in a guild that has people that (may) have the same fascination with the books that I have ^^

Hello, Im Ronika. You can call me that, or any form of my username. I have read the Subtle Knife and Amber Spyglass once each, and the Golden Compass many times (we read it in class, I moved much faster than the rest). I have not yet read Lyra's Oxford. I am currently in the midst of Phillip Pullman's Sally Lockhart series.
