Bar tender slapped a glass down in front of her. "What's your poison stranger?" Then he rudely walked to the end of the bar, shoved one guy snoozing off and returned to Verdandy, whipping out another glass with a dirty rag.
The noise all messed together, rather painful for sensitive ears. Conversations mixed together, not much was easy to tell what belonged to what conversation and the like. The two closest to her made some sense though.
One her left they were speaking of a certain Janus. Proclaimed myth that was a God of War or some such nonsense. They agreed it was all a show of a big man who could instill fear and cold apply makeup and play with fire. Of course.
To her right, talk of alchemy and its uses, current advances in the science. One in particular spoke of alchemical infusion fervently, argued it uses and the like. Said Teon had told him about it. He was going to try it out on a few squirrels.

Verdandy glard at the bartender a moment and said the first thing that popped into hr head. Really, when had she ever drank alcohol? "Whiskey." Damn...was she going to have to pay for this? She was doing this job because she couldn't pay for the repairs to her sword.
Janus...ah the god who didn't like her bowing. She had her own idea's about the man, and didn't pay much attention to the men on her left. Though the comment about him wearing makeup made her smile. If she ever wanted to get the man riled, she might try mentioning that.
To her right...what was the word? Al-em-mi? No, that wasn't it. Al...Alchemy. These people spoke so fast....and she had another question for Richard later. If she never had the chance to ask someone here. She turned to man speaking fervently on her right. "Beg your pardon, good sir. What is this word, 'infusion' that you use?"

Said man threw Verdandy a dirty look for being interrupted in his long entailed speech about it. "What are you? Mental? How can you not know that word. Bloody women. They don't know a thing." Oh he was such a lovely man indeed. "Infusion is where you take one thing, mostly liquid based and put it into another thing, almost mostly liquid." Hm, an example. "Say for instance I took a dog's blood and injected it into you on a molecular gene level. And now you could talk to dogs. That's infusion." That was a horrible explanation.

Her eyes glowed a bit...Mental was she? Bloody woman was she? She rolled up a sleeve. She'd show him a bloody woman.
Next moment she had sat back down and pulled her sleeve back over he arm. Silly, she shouldn't be getting angry. Violence was never the answer.
Verdandy blinked. That did not sound very pleasureable at all. Innocently she asked, "But why would one want to talk to dogs?" though she probably shouldhave left it at that.

He swiveled his bar stool to face her. "It's not about the talking to the dogs woman. It's about being able to. About being better than one was on a permanent level. Turning mortals into angels, so to speak and those angels always keeping their wings."

Better then you were? How very confusing and yet...intriging to the young drow. She always wanted to be better, to be "good" so to speak. She pondered for a moment. She was drow, therefore...evil, ah?
"Mortals into angels you say?" She took a sip of her whisky, but she winced as she swallowed it. She'd keep in mind to never order that again. "But and angel is still human in appearence" she thought maybe a change of skin color would be nice, "could one change form too, with this infusion?"

He nodded in giddy schoolboy fashion. "Oh yes. If done rightly and with the right chemical compounds and infusion rates and time, and amount of infusion material. Teon's developed a whole theory on it, says he's trying it so that he can get our provisions to supply better. Like more corn yielded at once and bigger cattle." He ran a hand through his hair. "Of course the form change thing is just a dream I suppose. It would take....years to do it to a permanent controllable state." Bucket of information.

It was mostly a jumble of nonesense words to Verdandy. She caught maybe one word in two. She wished this speices didn't talk to darn fast.
"But you can get larger corn and cattle through selective breading. Why go through all the trouble of...chem-i-cals?"
Another question, what are chemicals?
"And how do you know so much? Is this Teon man so readily available to give out his information?"

"I'm an alchemist. Oh Teon has a bundle of information he doesn't share. But when in a good mood he's quite open. You'd probably be better off talking to him. He lives in the cottage with the watchtower." A very open man. "And why wait for breeding and growing when you can make things better in perhaps a few days time?

A few days? Wow that was pretty great! She hoped she could bring this all back to Janus and not screw up any of the information.
She got up and pulled her hood down and made her way to the door, intent on trying to find this cottage. She didn't realize that she still hadn't paid for her drink.

Verdandy was about two steps from the door when she realized that she hadn't paid for her drink. One side of her said run for it, the other said to stay back and offer services to pay...she stood arguing with herself, unsure of what to do.

The tender didn't seem to care that she was walking away and had not paid. Hell, he just picked up her practically full glass and downed it. No point in wasting it and he had more important things to do that argue with a wench over a few coins. He had better paying regulars to tend to.

Verdandy heaved a sigh of reliefe. No need to stuggle with ehreself this time. One last glance around the bar, and the man who had given her so much information, and left.
Towns sppoked her and confused her. Especaily this one that was so..hostile compaired to that last town she was in. She kept her hood pulled down of course, not because she liked being mysterious but because she had no other choice. Let's face it, drow didn't have good reputations, and with good cause. She walked around for god knows how long, before she spooted the cottage with the tower (after going up and down the same streets three or four times.)
Hmm, certianly not a place she expect to find a..a um...experimenter.

Through the windows of th cottage, movement was clear. In reality Teon was going about normal busniess, realxing a bit. The damn failed werewolf, resulting in a type of odd dire wolf, was quiet downstairs, well drugged. Aiden would be found, so he could relax. He palnned on just whipping out her memory anyway, seh would be good old programmable pet. So he took the time to relax, going about making dinner and the like.

Problem. How did one go about snooping around a guys house without getting caught? She could see the man moving in the windows, could he have already seen her? Perhaps not. He looked busy, like he was setting up something.
Her stomach rumbled. Oh yeah, it was dinner time. She shrugged. Nothing esle for it. Quietly as she could, walking toe to heel, she made her way to the back of the small cottage, looking for a window that she might be able to peer or crawl through. She was carefull not to bend even a blade of grass.
One side loved the sneeking around, one was scared out of her mind.
