Back when I lived in Kentucky people in our parish would be shocked at my parents and their five kids (I'm the oldest).

Now in New Jersey we're kinda overshadowed by this one couple who has nine. xd

Nine? And to think my poor mother struggled with three whee

I think I might be the generic pro-lifer. I am female, a teenager, Catholic, heterosexual, anti most wars, anti death penalty, sort of pro guns and so on and so forth. All bow down to my generic glory.

That he does.

We all do, really. Because, you know, before 1972, women couldn't vote, wore poofy dresses, were pregnant 24/7/365, didn't work, and stayed barefoot in the kitchen. 1971 was a dark year indeed.

Lots of kids always makes me think of "stereotypical" Catholics.
I'm Catholic! But... I have no kids razz Well, not that I know of... And seeing as I have never donated or had sex then I assume I don't have any...

Oh, I'm Male by the way.
Well, I meant stereotypical married Catholics. XP I mean, my mom has 7 kids, and I'm the oldest. O.O That's insane.

I'm Catholic too, btw. blaugh

OK, I'm probably opening a can of worms here, but I have to ask, "Why is it insane to be open to having as many children as God sees fit to grace you with?" It's todays mentality that more than 2 or 3 kids is not normal that has the church in crisis today. If couples would stop using artificial birth control, think of the number of possible priests and religious we would have today. And in case you weren't aware of it, artificial contraception goes against church teaching. Anything that prevents the creation of life is just as wrong as the taking of it, once it has begun. If you don't follow the teachings of the church in their intirety, then don't call yourself Catholic, because you aren't. This is not a club, where you can pick and choose which rules you want to follow. You either follow them all, or you get out.

OK reggie, I'll give you the "generic pro-lifer" title, but I get the "Geriatric Pro-lifer" title.

Hmm, so I suppose choosing to be celibate would go against church teachings?

Actually in clubs you do have to follow the rules. Or else, they do kick you out. ninja

The distinction here must be made: the Church teaches that any artificial prevention of conception is banned. Therefore, not having sex, or having sex during the time that the female isn't fertile (the technique of Natural Family Planning), isn't wrong.

She (the Church) also teaches that doing something during sex with the intention of preventing conception is wrong, because it perverts the sexual act, making it simply the seeking of pleasure. This includes pulling out, as well as masturbation. By having sex when the woman is not fertile, you're using the natural infertility to avoid pregnancy, but there's always the chance for life.
