LOL~ it just kinda occured to me that we'd need more than a setting to get this RP started. Characters and a storyline are kinda necessary too, I bet! xd

So if we're needing a plot... I'm thinking it should be something normalish? Like... "The staff at Radio Gaia work hard to keep the listeners jolly and content while... somethingsomethingsomething..." xd

...That's a rather bland idea, but it's a starter? I'm SO not a writer. sweatdrop

The characters that you've suggested sound totally awesome to me so far! DJs (naturally xd ), clerks, interns, technicians, even custodians, hahahaa! xd And a talk-show host? Someone who likes to make a point and stick to it? Maybe this way, we can work "feature broadcasts" into the system? blaugh

And a setting... hmm~~ I think I'll turn this into the next big question to ask! "What do you think Radio Gaia looks like? Is it a mega-tall building with fifty-five floors?! Or is it a quaint corner at a busy intersection in the hippest part of the city? etc.etc." ninja

i think maybe it would be a good idea to start the station off as small, say, a group of people have this idea to make a radio station, get the goods, and then they do. as it progresses, they can gain fame, recognition, and a bigger studio! (*cough* conglommerate npc *cough*) ...and BEWARE of clearchannel, for the love of GOD!
...or fall to the hyenas and end up in a cardboard box on main street begging for one note of music. blaugh

heh, reminds me of this local station that started just about a year ago in thie one guy's garage with the help of his uncle and his radio antenna. his opinions were popular, so he gained more staff. his music was popular, so he gained more listeners and recognition. they are now super popular, have a bigger studio now located in the "big city,"and one of the djs is now also part of one of the more famous (non clearchannel) stations that's been around for 10+ years now. i remember when that one started too, lol. blaugh i listen to both, they're actually pretty similar now, but still some distinct differences where i want to listen to both. (for reference, the newer one is 96.7 the buzz, streaming at buzzatlanta.com, and 99X, streaming at 99X.com) and, you know, the newer one always taking shots at the older one to try and earn their place or something. xd

- the reason why I was thinking about turning the thread into an RP in the first place was because the randomness seemed to overlap too much in the guild and the thread. So I thought that it would be a good idea to concentrate the chatter in one place, the guild I'm thinkin', and use the thread for something else so that the chitchat isn't as scattered. sweatdrop On that note, adding more threads elsewhere might make things more stretched out. We don't have a lot of active folks as it is and adding more places while not a whole lot of people around might be a stretch. On the other hand, it might attract the attention of others, such as RPers if there's on in Barton, but I'm still concerned about the stretching of members. xp

- I really like the idea about the "growing" aspect!! Like... you know how at some forums, they have titles for people who have reached a certain number of posts? Suppose you're a new member at a bird-themed forum. As a newbie with 0 posts, you start off as an embryo and once you work your way up 50 posts, you become an egg, then at 100 posts a chickie, then 200 posts a youth(?), then 500 ~> mature chicken (?), 1000~> old chicken, 2000~> LUNCH! xd But instead of posts, it could be members! So at like... 5 active RPing members, we're just a garage-radio station! Then once we hit 10, we've got airtime at a local station for an hour. At 20, we've stretched to three hours, 50~> we've got the evening broadcast, 100~> indie, underground radio, 200~> a show on a big station, 300~> we've got the morning and evenin programs, 500~> WE PWNED j00!!! xd

... and stuff. xd

And regarding classes... okay, let's brainstorm some classes. My suggestions:

- DJs (we can split this into liike... morning DJs, evening folks, etc.etc.)
- secretaries
- technicians
- listeners...

.... that last one definitely needs some diversification. xp

So... question. Is anything going to be done with this? xd

just finished reading up in here and i have a couple ideas/thoughts on this.
for setting i like the whole small station wanting to become well known thing, probably because it's like our thread now! sweatdrop location doesn't really matter, but i think a cool place would be somewhere in durem, like by moira's shop because it's got the cool urban decor. upstairs neighbors perhaps?
characters, i think can just be determined by the actual posters, i would assume that all the djs will be actual djs, and the other people can pick their jobs. though i don't know what i want my job to be. sweatdrop can i be a groupie? hahah.
i like the talk show segment with opinions/rants. i guess it can kind of be like a "featured soapbox". i also think that doing what 46 said would be really fun, like going to other threads and doing pranks. whee we might be able to have a little news segment as well, so that we're like up to date with the real world (gasp) or maybe gaian news? npcs might be interesting, but i don't think we should start out with them, add them as we progress or they're needed.
thinking about the thread location, i can't help but think that the guild would be the best place for it. that way we can have each thread be different rooms/locations in the station, like how event forums are? i think that if we want a bunch of different rooms, it can become really confusing really fast if we want it in one thread. and i can't say i can complain about the randomness in the original thread, i like it, actually. 3nodding and if we want, we can still have regular threads for regular discussion in the guild, maybe just like sticky all the rp threads.
...and i think that's all my thoughts for now, but i'm sure i can get some more in a while. whee 3nodding
