I don't know about proximity fuses. I think what you mean is a timed fuse. They would set the fuses to go off after a set time.
But like I said, shrapnel is meant to maim, not hit someone in the head or cut their head off everytime.
And World War Z is an amazingly awesome book,

And World War Z is an amazingly awesome book, No, I did not mean a timed fuse, I meant a proximty fuse. It explodes at a certain distance from a target (or a large solid object like the ground, not completely sure). And I'm not counting on shrapnel to take off a head, but I'd rather take huge chunks of a group of zombies rather than fight them on foot. Also, I'm still banking on the force of an HE shell, rather than the shrapnel it creates.

I dout it's all that expensive, since a lot of the types were mass produced in WWII. And hey, if you're firing into a group you're bound to make more than 1 kill.

During WWI, it was estimated that you got 1 kill, for ever 100 artillery shells fired.

It'll cut through zombies like butter. if you are surrounded by 40 zombies and you have a saber that has no weight on it so it feel awkward, do you really think you could kill every one? no you would die off soon. I declare a shotgun with alot of ammo would be a nice weapon, or a shovel.

Old Lord Brocktree During WWI, it was estimated that you got 1 kill, for ever 100 artillery shells fired. I said WWII. xD And well, that's because the soldiers are heavily entrenched in the landscape, plus shrapnel fle up rather than down into the entrenched soldiers. In fact, that's why proximity fuses were invented, so shrapnel could fall down at a lethal velocity.

Just dont try to put it over your shoulder. xD But seriously, if lightsabers really existed I wouldn't have any worry about zombies. Lightsaber>shovel. Cmon, a shovel is heavy and hard to swing. It's not even all that sharp. But I wouldn't even cosider using a lightsaber as a weapon, since not existing counts as a drawback.

A shovel can be a VERY effective weapon. During WWI, Shovels were used as weapons and were often used more than bayonets. You could easily punch through a skull with that, either the spike or the blade. And it's not only the entrenching, it's the fact it's random, and indiscriminate.

i would use my weapon (im gonna make it when the time's right) a rifle with a shotgun attachded too it. it's also a bajonett attached at the front.scoped att the sniper. the heaviness iss gone chose its also attached too my backpack when travveling between cities.
