I thought I'd post some news since no one else is...
2/22/06
I learned this awhile ago, but "Happy Live Surprise" will be coming to a music store near you in Canada, on March. 7th 2006. But in Canada, I think it's called "Go Chuck Yourself" I'm not sure if it still comes with the DVD, someone on www.sumpieces.com said taht it didn't so... Yah.

5/23/06 This happened a while ago, but I only learnt of it a couple days ago. I am extremely sad to report this, but Dave Baksh has left Sum 41. This is no joke, no prank, no gossip. Only fact. If you don't believe me or want more info about it, visit Sum 41's official site. They have an official announcement on the front page and Deryck made an annoucement detailing the exact reason why on their messege boards. I will post Deryck's messege here: hey everyone so yes the rumors are true. dave has left the band. he was sick of this whole life and would have more fun playing in his own classic metal band. so we respect that. there's no hard feelings what so ever. the fact is dave lost interest a long time ago. not to take any credit away from him, but he really didn't have anything to do with this band creatively for a long time. i wrote all those riffs and played most of them on the albums. so from a creative stand point nothing is going to change with sum41. we will miss dave a lot. and we don't plan on replacing him. we are in the middle of making our greatest record yet. it will definitely be our most exciting and important record we've ever made. and we plan on touring more and longer on this album than we ever have before. this may sound weird but this is the best thing that could have happened to sum41 right now. because in order to make a great record everyone involved has to be excited. and daves excitment was gone after all killer. so don't worry, sum41 is still sum41 and will sound the way we always have. we're just bummed we won't get to share the same stage with dave anymore. see you all soon. biz
And, after this messege was posted, a TON of fans were complaining about it, saying that Deryck was an "egotistic b*****d", so he replied with this: i just want to say that if i didn't care about you guys i wouldn't have come on here to let you all know the truth and to let you know it's all going to be ok in the first place. i came on the messgae board specifically to tell it straight to you guys, the fans directly. instead of leaving a generic statement on the front of the site. anytime there's serious news i'm the first one on here to let you guys hear it from me first. the problem is, it's impossible to read someone's tone in text. you saw me as being big headed and egotistical. when all i was trying to be was honest and reassuring. i understand you guys are hurt about dave. but think how we are feeling. we just lost a best friend, and our guitar player of 8 years. we're the ones who are hurting the most. the comment about dave not being involed in the last few records, i'm sorry but, it's the truth. and even dave himself will be the first to say it. the comment about this being the best thing to happen to us was taken completely wrong. it is the best thing. dave was depressed. we want the best for him. him leaving was the best thing for him to do in his life and for this band to keep making records an touring. this band is my life. all i have done since we have been off the road is work on this new album. i can't wait for you guys to hear this. all i do is think about getting on tour and playing for you guys. when you say i don't care about anyone else but myseslf. you are wrong. all i care about is this band and our fans. and i would have hoped that any fan of ours could see that with the amount of work i put into this. i'm sorry for upsetting you, but all i said was the truth. you can pick this apart all you want. i'm not mad i'm not upset. i just want to be honest. i don't claim to be an egotistical person and if you ask the rest of the band i know they would tell you the same thing. i know that we are in the middle of making our best record. and anyone who has heard it has said the same thing. you can buy it, steal it, download it or never even bother listening to it. dave was an unbelieveable guitar player. there's no question about that. but cone, steve and i are still sum41 and i'm just going to let the music speak for itself. i can't wait to see you guys all again, or at least those of you who want to see us again. and to anyone who is now no longer a fan of sum41, i respect and understand that. thank you for your support over the years.
thanks
biz

7/20/06So, we haven't had much of an update in months, but here's something exciting for you guys to check out. Now, whether you know it or not, the band "The Operation" is a little side-project including none other than our favorite bassist, Cone McCaslin! Now, he is NOT LEAVING SUM 41!! Again, its just a side-project. But The Operation is releasing an album late this year and if you wanna check them out, follow this link. http://www.myspace.com/theoperationmusicAnd, if you look at the pics, you can see that Steve Jocz plays drums for the band in a couple songs. So, you'll be hearing him a bit. And, as you all know, Deryck and Avril finally got married! So far, not many pics of the wedding are out, but congradulations to the happy couple! biggrin
