I used to be an anime nut... loved Kenshin, Bebop, Eva and Flame of Recca among others. Now I only watch Samurai Champloo. sweatdrop
I have tons of anime VHS tapes because I used to rent DVDs and record them.

Nalfein I used to be an anime nut... loved Kenshin, Bebop, Eva and Flame of Recca among others. Now I only watch Samurai Champloo. sweatdrop Yeah! I love all those anime! Isn't there supposed to be another season of Flame of Recca? I like Koganei and Mikagami Tokiya. There's also a new Platinum edition for Evangelion that I want, too. Samurai Champloo is pretty good. I only like the guy with the kimono.

I've only seen the first episode. And the best Kyo (other than your Kyo) is SNK Kyo. 3nodding

I had this fansub that was really shitty quality. I didn't like Recca and Yanagi. I tend to hate the main characters because they are always so annoying. Yeah, Mugen was the rasta-hippie with Spike's hairstyle. I dunno, I just like him. He's not a goody two-shoes. Some people don't like him because he's too "cool" though. I'd say I usually hate main characters too but that would be a lie because Spike and Recca are awesome. I just hate Gokou and Kenshin, I guess. Yanagi sucks though. Fuko is way better.

For the whole lead character thing, I think the male leads are so much better when they don't have to deal with the female characters (exception Spike/Faye, I'm using Spike/Julia). Kenshin is awesome, throw in Kaoru and it's just annoying garbage. Recca is annoying with and without Yanagi, but it isn't as bad compared to Yanagi around cheering him on and him screaming 'hime' all the time.
I miss having anime to look forward to. Like Hikaru no Go and Naruto. I used to be really into those anime. I followed Hikago almost all the way to the end of the anime, but it got really dull towards the end. I know Naruto is ongoing and I'm trying to get back into that one.

I dunno, I never liked Kenshin. His conservatory attitude concerning his opponents where he refused to harm them annoyed me a lot. Plus, I hate it when the main character NEVER loses, which is why I liked Sanosuke 10x better. Kenshin ALWAYS won. He was invincible. Boring. Sagara Sanosuke, on the other hand, got his a** handed to him like once every 10 episodes. I like that... when a character isn't the strongest but he still manages to act all bad a** and has attitude. I think that, second to Spike Spiegel, Sanosuke might be my favorite anime character ever.
Recca got his a** kicked a lot in Flame of Recca also. And about Recca... I just thought he was great because he reminded me so much of myself. I used to be all ninja-obsessed too back when I watched the anime, pulled all sorts of dorky crap at school. And this was before both the Real Ultimate Power and the Naruto craze.
I hated Kaoru, by the way. Annoying b***h.

Have you seen the OAVs? Where Kenshin was all badass? The art and music is 100x better than the TV series, too. I HIGHLY recommend it. It's not comedic like the TV series, it's more melancholy and dark. Kenshin was annoying because of the ways he would win. In my mind, Soujiro won that battle. Kenshin likes to psychologically inflict damage on his opponents so that they lose their focus and end up losing the battle.
I guess Recca was my first ninja anime. I didn't like when they changed the animation somewhere in the middle of the series. I might try reading the manga.
