Send in troops and add even more fighting and bloodshed? Demand the freedom of the hostages? Demand them to stop fighting? I don't see what they are going to be able to do that will actually work. neutral pretty easy, sanction isreal unless they get out Uh, or sanction ******** Lebanon until they release what they stole. I'm not a big Israel fanatic normally, and what they're doing is incredibly overly reactionary. But Lebanon was still the instigator, here. Even when the soldiers were kidnapped in Lebanese territory? I agree... Lebanon was defending their right to not have foriegn ARMED and UNIFORMED soldiers in their lands. It is Isreal's fault for sending them there Its Lebanon’s fault for not disarming an active militant organization that has been attacking not only Israel, but also the US, the UN, and many other nations as well. They were given a chance but failed, as such Israel had to act to protect its people since the cross boarder raids were becoming more and more costly. No Israel is not completely without blame, but you might want to notice that Lebanon isn’t defending squat before you make such a claim. It is the terrorist organization that is doing the fighting not the Lebanese military.

dartalian agrab0ekim First, we are not at war. We have not been at war from ww2 to the present. That is why i am saying give the UN teeth. If we give them a little more troops that are good, they can enforce the statutes. And they do enforce them... They got IRAQ to stop making WMDs Look back at your constitutional history and you will find that the president can declare an ongoing war against an indeterminate enemy, and the Supreme Court has said as much. For Proof check out Thomas Jefferson and what he did against the Barbary Pirates. And you may also want to note the humongous, colossal, failures of the UN. The UN wasn’t sure they got Iraq to do anything. Hans Blix himself said as much. They said that the only way we would know is when the Americans are knocking down the doors to check. Everyone, including France believed as such and said so publicly before military action was brought. And even if and when they are given troops the chain of command is so piece of s**t that its not funny and almost nothing can be done. we have a hard enough time within nato. he can send troops into a fight for 6 months... congress can let that be longer (as is happening in Iraq).. but it not war... That is what is important. During war, habius corpus may be removed... during peace, it can not... when it is a war does matter

No matter the past results, the UNs job is to be there to attempt to make it better Dude, are listending to yourslef? You want the United Nations to handle something that they were assigned more than 20 years ago and they ******** that up. Now you want UN Peacekeepers to police a volitile situation, please tell me you just want to see Bloody blue helmets in the streets, or even a few Pakistani Armored Personel Carriers with blast holes in them. Because that's basically what you're going to see. Please the job of the peackeeprs then was as observers not as a disarming force. This time we can make them as such, say, yes you can disarm them by force if you need to. Force? Peacekeepers does not have the capability to disarm either side in this. Peacekeepers form the UN only really has the capabillity to control a city much like a degree of marshal law. It can't mount an attack like an actual soverign nation even if it wanted to.

No they jsut need to bribe every nation, they are the biggest waist of time, there like a substitute teacher, they have zero control, but you still have to be on their good side so when the write the report to the teacher IE big countries, we don't look bad.

Well I think the U.N. has become much weaker since the U.S. became the only lasting Super power. Besides the U.N. is to try to solve conflics peacfuly. So it's not a matter of power it's a matter on who does there job right
