yes it is but it has all the modern things about a vampire, powers as well as a lot of different types of vamps. so you can create a more unique character. there is also a werewolf version out as well.

I dont know if this was asked already, so, alternate RP is for rp before the movies took place and movie based is....what has happened during the first movie?

I've been meaning to make that clearer, but haven't had any ideas about how to do that at the moment.
Anyway, to answer your questions; the movie-based RP continues off from the end of the first movie (Michael is a hybrid, and Markus has just awoken [and is also a hybrid]; the alternate RP takes place at the beginning of the first movie (several characters are currently involved in the movies opening subway fight), but we have introduced two additional races, hence the RP is alternate.
Does that make sense?

Yes, I get it. But I'm a little intimidated to jump in and start rping cuz I haven't seen the second movie and its been a while since I've seen the third. (I know who Michael, Selene, Markus, and Victor are and I think Craven, but that's it)
One question I do have is, I want to make something clear. Whether you join alternate or movie based, if you're a vampire you start in the vampire mansion right? and lycan, with the...lycan horde?
And what about when you join the Alternate where you can become a Celestial or demon...where do they start?
*is so lost*
OH! and can you be a human at first but be turned? I think it might be cool to play an untrained newbie vamp or lycan.

Don't be intimated, we are all a friendly bunch and are more than willing to help you if you happen to get stuck/lost/confused and the like.
No, you don't have to start in those threads. Your character could be out on patrol/hunting/wandering around aimlessly; but, at some stage, they will obviously have to return to the vampire mansion or lycan den (depending on the characters species). Starting in those threads is probably easier, but it isn't required that you start in your characters 'home base' thread. Frankly, as long as you don't have a vampire suddenly appearing in the lycan den, or vice versa, I have no issue where your character happens to make their first appearance.
It's the same deal with the celestials and the demons. They are free to start where-ever (although I would advise against them suddenly appearing in the subway at the moment, it could be hazardous for their health xP), as long as they don't suddenly appear within enemy territory.
However, I will allow one exception to what I've just said (I'm strange like that xP). Your character can start in an opposing teams thread if you intend them to be a captive of that species (i.e.; if a vampire had been captured by a lycan, they would be free to start in the lycan thread; the same with a celestial being captured and detained by a demon). The only thing I ask with this situation is that you let either myself or one of the mods know, that way we can organise a plausible scenario.
OMG, yes, yes you can ^^ I've been entertaining the prospect of that myself, so you are definitely more than welcome to create a human character that you plan to have turned later.

A few more and I think I'm about ready to start. Say, I want to be a human. Do I just start in any old place? like out in the street or in the subway?
It would probably be advisable to read a little in the areas before I make my entrance no?
AND when people ARE rping, if they move to different areas in the rp. Do they have to go to the thread that corresponds to the place they went to?

Yen it pretty much right ^^
Humans are free to start just about anywhere, the only exclusions being the home grounds of the RP's various supernatural species. As you have probably noticed, the base threads (i.e.; The City and Subway) are fairly open, so you are free to create more specific settings within those threads (e.g.; a cafe, a certain subway platform/train car).
Yes, that would be most advisable. When/should you start reading, you may notice that things jump around at times; if you get confused about what has happened feel free to ask someone as most of us remember what has happened.
As for your final question, the answer depends on where they are moving too. If, for example, a vampire was out on patrol in 'The City' and, upon completing their patrol, returned to the vampire mansion, then yes, the RPer would be required to move to the corresponding thread. However, say the vampire was attacked on their patrol and retreated into one of the various vampire safe-houses, then no, the RPer would be free to continue to RP in 'The City' thread as the is no corresponding thread in this case.
Again, I hope that what I have said all makes sense, seeing as I seem to have a tendency for long-winded replies.

*Ah-hem* (< I want in on this conversation wink )
Keiko: As a moderator, tutor and aspiring writer, I think I might be able to help you with whatever character development you are planning. Whether it be some help regarding a history, introduction to a certain part of the Underworld environment or possibly having a connection to an already existing character (from the movie or even some user created ones), I can be of some assistance. Just drop me a PM if you feel so inclined.

(*feels special* X3 LOL *pokes Yen* :p)
ONE more question I promise, but I think about these during the day. Do the humans know about vampires and lycans? I had an idea for a character. But I figured if the humans knew for real that they would be thrown into massive panic. So are the humans supposed to be oblivious (initially) of these supernatural beings?

One I can answer!!! Whooo!!!
Yes and no. A vast majority of Humans are Oblivious, but some radical and government groups know.

*Snugs Marc* - Thank you!
*Pokes Yen* - Hey, didn't I help you with stuff? (I think I did, although any memory of it seems to allude me at the moment xP)
How much knowledge your character has about the Underworld beings depends a lot on their history. Generally, most humans are unaware of the vampires/lycans/demons/celestials, but there are some (Yen's characters for example) who are aware of the aforementioned species due to their profession/personal history. So, to answer your question, how much awareness you want your human character to have it really up to you, and will vary greatly depending on their background. Obviously though, the humans wouldn't know every little detail about the war itself, as in, it's beginnings, major battles, notable warriors e.t.c., unless they were a part of the military, radical groups, or worked for Alexander Corvinus.
EDIT: Yen pretty much summed it up nicely xP

Yen shi I never got an offer like that...*pokes Marc* You never asked. So, there. Plus I was in a spontaneous good mood yesterday. Also, I think I am more competent to do so now than I was when you first started at the guild. To further examine Keiko's question, I will add that humans probably have developed a mythos concerning things like vampires and werewolves that would have naturally developed as not all vampires and werewolves know how to clean up after themselves. Alexander Corvinus said in Underworld Evolution that his purpose (along with the Cleaners) was to cover up the war between the primary immortal species, but there is little chance that he could cover up their existence entirely. Oh, X, you should add me on yahoo messenger (unless there is another one that you are more prone to using; in that case I want to add you on that one).
