So, as I said, it's Harry/OC. I wrote it for a contest hosted by a friend of mine (and Belle) so that's why it has the phrase 'I have cross bred an animal, and a vegetable! I call it....Turkeysquash!' That was one of the phrases you had to incorporate in your short story. Now, there's a background to this wee ficcy of mine. It's based on another RP I'm part of, so if you don't really get something, just ask me 3nodding Oh, and I can't spell worth potatos.

My Heart's Been Stolen By a Madwoman

On silent, bare feet she slipped down the hallways, robes fluttering slightly at her heels. Sliding along in the shadows, Kathrynn followed a small grey cat further up towards the top of Hogwarts' towers. "Dust! Tell me where you're taking me!" the young Ravenclaw hissed at the cat. Dust meerly kept trotting along, giving the impression of knowing precicly where she was headed. This had better be worth it, Kathrynn thought, wearing only robes and your pajamas gets cold! Under her blue trimmed robes, Kathrynn wore a pair of immensly baggy plaid pajama pants and a purple tank top. She folded her arms over her stomach to keep covered and continued walking, stormy grey eyes darting about. The two of them climbed a staircase with only the slight slap of Kathrynn's feet and the rustle of cloth as the only noise. Again they were in a hallway making their way to the end of the great, stretching corridor. It seemed to go on for a lifetime before a light glimmered around a corner. "Oh bugger!" Kathrynn snarled quietly. She ducked behind a large statue of a craggy old wizard with a staff. Dust was no where to be seen. The light came closer, waving back and forth, the glow swarming over the walls. Kathrynn squeezed her eyes shut as the light came finally so close, it blinded her. Before she could raise her hands and run out from behind the statue and flee down the hall, the light went out and someone whispered, "Kathrynn? What are you doing here?" The voice was male, low and raspy from whispering. Kathrynn couldn't see who it was through the blurr of blinking splotches that darted across her eyes. She rubbed her eyes frantically to clear her view. She could still make a run for it with a quick stunning spell and no one would be the wiser, but once she saw who it was who had caught her, the thought was whiped from her mind in an instant. "Oh! Harry it's you! I was just trying to catch Dust. The rascal ran away." She said quietly. Not wanting to be stuck behind a grimy chunk of stone while in such close proximity with the male of her desire, she stepped out from behind it. Harry followed, lowering his wand. Kathrynn didn't say a word. She was too distracted by the way the moonlight that streamed through the windows glinted on his glasses. Harry didn't speak eather for a time, himself being distracted by the fact that she looked stunning in plaid. The two of them just stood in the halls for a time, just looking at each other, when finally Harry spoke up, "Er, Kathrynn, there's something I..."

"You what?"

"That I want to talk with you, or tell you about, or...say or...yeah. This seems like the best place to...er..." Harry rambled on, stopping as a blush flooded his cheeks. Kathrynn was looking up in to his eyes with a lopsided grin on her face. Harry was half a head taller than she was, so to meet his eyes, she tilted her head back making her chocolate curls tumble down her black clad back like a waterfall "Well, go on then." she said, as quiet as she was before.

"Well, ever since that little happening in the owlry," Kathrynn had fallen out a window, Harry had saved her and the two of them made a bit of a connection, "I've been thinking about, well," Harry paused for a moment, his blush growing redder and redder, "you know...you and me and...us." This struck Kathrynn dumb. She manadged to say, "Oh. What about us?" she asked as she wrung her hands behind her back. She knew what he meant, but she was very stupid at the moment. Harry spoke up, less embarassment in his voice this time, "I'll just come out and say it. Ever since then, I've loved you. Loved everything about you. The way you always have something witty to say, the way your eyes glitter when you laugh, the way your sence of humor never fails no matter what. The way I can't stop smiling when I see you." Harry grinned down at her, his stomach filled with butterflies. Kathrynn meerly stared, her mouth slightly agape at the current happenings. Suddenly, Harry couldn't keep it in any longer. He put his head down and brought his lips to Kathrynns softly, gently, shyly even. At first, Kathrynn didn't know what was going on. She started to panic and pull away, but then relaxed and let it happen. She was completly lost. She was giddy yet confused by it all. It coudn't really be happening, no, it couldn't be. But it was. Oh yes, it was. Kathrynn didn't notice anything around her other than Harry and herself. They were the only two in the world right then. She was lost in the moment, drowned in his eyes and completly consumed by the feeling of his lips on hers and his hands on her arms and...no. She couldn't. Kathrynn Cirstie didn't fall in love. She didn't kiss and hug and hold hands and be a couple. But here she was, in the arms of her newly found love, and of all things, letting it happen, and enjoying it more then she ever thought she would. But it was over too fast. They parted after a short time and Kathrynn was the first to speak, "Well, isn't this romantic? A first kiss by the moonlight."

"Somehow I knew you'd say something like that." Harry replied, once again, very nervouse.

"Now," Kathrynn said, much closer to Harry as a result of the kiss, "I'll have to caution you now. I may just come up to you, in all my wild randomness, and say 'I have cross bred an animal, and a vegetable! I call it....Turkeysquash!' in the middle of a crowd."

"It would just make me love you all the more." Harry whispered softly, meaning every word, "Walk you back to your common room?"

"I'd love it. And besides, you'd be there to save me if I fell out a window."

Can someone do the honour of explaining to me what Fanfiction is about? I know the website and stuff, but what is it about, what's in it? My sister goes on it a lot because of the Harry Potter content.

Fanfiction is basically people with no lives (like me) writing up fake little stories (usually draco/harry heart heart heart ) That include characters from a fictional source.

Mostly we are looking at Harry Potter fanfics so it is people writing as the Harry Potter characters. ^.^
