He shrugged and placed his water on the table.
"I don't think I'm what she really wants." He said simply turning to face her again. "She calls me a coward, dissapears without so much as a word. I don't think she wants to accept me for who I am, and if that is the case then I'm not sure I want to be with her."
He took a deep breath and let it out.
"It's a shame, because I really, really like her, maybe love her. But I'm not so sure we fit anymore.

Obie listened to him carefully. In the end she and Nato had parted on very similar terms. She had realized she still cared for him, but their lives were just going in completely opposite directions.
"Believe it or not... I know exactly what you're going through right now," she smiled softly at him. "In the end I had to make the decision of what was best for me. You, personally, have no reason to change. You're a very wonderful, caring person and have a lot going for you. No need for improvement there," she smiled with a hint of playfulness in her eyes. "Sometimes... you just grow apart and that makes it almsot more painful or difficult because it doesn't feel like a real reason. But it is. But you have to make sure it's a decision you really want to make."

Ra nodded and swallowed.
"Yeah, it's just we never really had a chance." He gave her a weak smile and toyed with the lable on the bottle. "I suppose i feel angry at her for not giving us a chance, not giving me a chance. I feel really empty without her around which makes things even harder."
He sighed once more and ran his fingers through his hair.
"Its quite pathetic really. And i feel guilty, sometimes i wonder if it had been me that dissapeared after inciting an argument if she would have waited as long and as patiently as I have." He shook his head. "I'm so bad."

"Well Ra... do you want to keep waiting for her so that ya'll can have a fair chance, because you very easily can. It won't make the emptiness go away any time soon though," she smiled warmly at him.
"As for this feeling of guilt, you should just drop it right now. I think it's fair of you to wonder something like that. And frankly... if the thought has crossed your mind, and more than once, that should be sending some serious flags up for you."

Ra let his head fall back against the sofa and nodded.
"Yeah, well I'm sure she can find some more real guys to do whatever it is she wants." He closed his eyes for a moment and breathed deeply again. He had shared a lot with Chii, been through a lot, but Obie was right. Maybe it was time to just admit they were better off going their separate ways.
"Thanks." He said lifting his head up and turning to smile at her. "Then you will really be one of my few friends. I seem to have a talent for pushing people away."

"Of course Ra," she smiled lightly and gave her head a little shake at his admission. "Just because you might decide to break it off with her, doesn't mean that ya'll can't be friends. But even if it doesn't work out... I don't think you can get away with blaming yourself for pushing her way. From what you've said, it sounds like it was quite the opposite." She studied him for a moment, then reached out and took his hand in hers as she rose from the sofa.
"Come on. We're going to get out of here. I don't want to suffer Miss Diva is she decides to return, and now you're feeling sorry for yourself again. No more of that," she said, pulling him to his feet, then dropping his hand and moving to the door.

Ra looked down at her hand and stood. She was right. He had been so positive earlier and thinking and talking had brought him down again.
"Where are we going?" He asked shoving his hands into his pockets and following her out of the room.

"Anywhere is better than here, right?" she smiled as she walked out without locking the door. She hurried out of the dorms and started towards the gates. Thank the gods that Isa was not brave enough to leave the campus without her. Thinking of somewhere to go, she shoved her hair back over her shoulders and looked around.
"Where's one place that would make you happy beyond belief? One place within reach, of course," she asked looking up at him.

"Happy beyond belief?" He smirked as they walked through the grounds. I this place? He thought. "My bed so I could sleep off this Jet lag. But that sounds like a sleazy proposition. So er, you decide." He said with a shrug. "Which place makes you happy?"

Obie looked up at him and laughed her rare genuine laugh. "Fair enough," she said, still laughing as she thought of what would make her happy.
"Um... Bookstores make me happy. Cafes and gardens too. Any of that catch your fancy? I don't want to bore you to death," she smiled up at him.

Ra thought about it for a few moments and looked at the scenery that surrounded them. All so rare and unexplored.
"How about a long walk?" He said changing their direction so that they headed out of the school grounds. "You never know what you're going to come across that way."

"Works for me," she smiled and slipped her hands into her pockets. As they walked out from under the gates and out into the rest of the world, she took a deep breath and could feel all of the tension that that place gave her escape as she breathed out. So suffocating.
"I've some new people since we last talked," she said randomly, her own plaguing thoughts deciding to surface. "All guys. Sometimes, I feel like the only girl that goes to that school," she smirked slightly.

Ra smirked and returned his hands to his pockets as he walked.
"You're a guy magnet." He grinned as they passed quaint old houses and rice fields.
Inwardly he felt a twinge of something again. Ignoring it he picked up pace to move a little ahead of her.
"So, who is new on your hit list?" He teased, meaning no offence by his words. "Anyone I know?"

Obie rolled her eyes at his guy magnet comment. Riiight. She frowned slightly as he suddenly picked up his pace a little. She easily fell in step beside him and smirked.
"Um... there's Rohan. He's fairly new to the school and extremely outgoing. Then Tomoki who is a huge baseball fan and is beyond determined to make me one as well. And just recently I met Jun at archery practice. Maybe you know him? He's in the Astrology Club as well. They are all really sweet guys. Very different from each other, but sweet," she smiled, glancing out over the beautiful scenery.

Ra stopped still and blinked at her. Jun again. Why did he have to be everywhere. His very own demon.
Muttering something under his breath in Farsi he turned round and started to head back the way they had just come.
"I've changed my mind." He said running his fingers through his hair. "I think i'm going to head back and get some sleep."
