Never got it, never got all his key skills. What happens when you get all of them?

I did because you have to have them all to get the best combo on Wakka's best slots.

no you don't, I've gotten the Auroch reels without the original team... on like one of my first playthroughs
my last save I kept the original team

I guess it did...
I really don't trust FAQ's
I trust what I see and hear from friends
even though seeing is the most reliable
and sometimes I try to disprove the things I hear and don't like... and sometimes succeed

once I was looking through strategy thingies for FFX (hey, just because I don't trust them, doesn't mean I can't look at 'em anyway) and I came across an FFX challenge... beat the game without using the sphere grid, overdrives (exception of tutorial periods), no fleeing or escaping, no customizing equipment (although it allowed celestials), no summoning (exception of aeon fights), and I can't remember the rest, but it is apparently possible... can't see how though...

It included a strategy to accomplish this...
the weapons and armors fiends drop are your friends
If there was anything I remember from that guide it was imperative one gets a weapon with initiative from the Qactuars...
Ambush at the equivalent of level one in anywhere there and beyond is pretty much instant death
