And also think about the weps they use

boomas used claws as do vulmers...
bartles have sharp sword-like hands and hey what do you know so do the shark series of enemies...

so yeah i still think they got them mixed up

Yeah but Boomas and Bartles don't use photon energy on their arms, Vulmers have photon claws and Evil Sharks have photon blade fins. Besides, Gulgus Gue and Gi Gue bear no resemblence.
