well, I've only been to like 5 cons, mainly JACON and AFO, so i'm REALLY wanting to go to metrocon, and I don't really know the date.. @.@ I'm kind of dence, but I'll find it eventually!!!
as for food... each time we go, we pretty much end up starving, cept the usual pocky supply, but .... sooo... sooooo hungry, these tips have showed me that I CAN go to a con and eat... *falls to knees* I finnally can... >w<

This year we had to stay at the main hotel, so all we really had to do was go across that bridge, which I was so afraid of, I hate hights and water...and they didnt have a fridge or a microwave. scream So for food we either ate out, or we took the trolly thing to the publix like 3 blocks away. Its funny when people stare at you when you try (and fail) to stand up and point out the justice league walking down the street. sweatdrop
edit: I am still trying to find that extra 25 dollars left over from the dealers room that I lost on saturday... stare

The dates weren't on the site last time I checked, which I believe was two days ago. I would just continue to check it every couple of days. That's what I do for every con... sweatdrop
If I happen to see it soon though, I'll try to put it up here...

Well, I've never been to Metrocon before, though I plan to go to the up-and-comming one next year.
I can, however, give you some tips on what to bring with you as a sort of 'emergency' kit!
If you are cosplaying always being atleast a small bit of whatever materials are part of your costume, just enough to patch any holes that may appear, you never know when something could go wrong and you don't want to have to retire your costume for the rest of the con just because you tore a hole in the butt or something.
Along with that I reccomend needles and thread, safety pins in various sizes, and possible, if you used it in the construction of your outfit, a mini glue gun and some glue sticks. (I build fursuits and so hotglue is a staple if fur comes aloose on the head or feet).
These things should all fit in a small sewing box, nothing too large.
For personal items I sudgest bringing: All medicine you need on a daily basis, pepto bismol (you never know when you might need it! Last year at FurryWeekedAtlanta it was my savior after I woke up saturaday morning feeling like I'd been beaten in the stomach with a brick after eatting HuddleHouse food before bed), Headache medicine like Alive or Tylonol, Lots of people = lots of noise and having a headache for the majority of the day won't be fun!, Also allergy medicine if you are prone to allergies is good, I reccomend benadryl but if you have a prescription allergy med then that works too.
Don't forget! Pack more clothes than just one outfit per day, packing an extra shirt, pair of pants, and underware is a good thing because accidents DO happen! As for money, well that depends on wether you consider yourself a big spender. Make sure you take enough to buy a replacement con badge, loosing it and then being stuck out of the con for the rest of the weekend would suck! Keep that money tucked aside, not with your normal spending money. Make sure you have enough to be able to eat for the whole weekend and keep enough to buy a little something on the way home if you live a good distance away, I know I was mighty hungry comming home broke from FWA last year.. D=

Oops! Looks like I left out the food aspect!
Well, last FWA I took a cooler with me full of things like soda, lunch meat, bread, and lots of snacks like muffins, cookies, and things like that.
That way, sence I always come the day before a con starts (thurday usualy) I'll have something to eat (sandwhiches) instead of having to spend my con money on food for thursday. Also, being able to run back up to the room and make a sandwhich and grab a mountain dew when I was hungr/thirsty was super helpful!
If I gather things right though Metro is located in a convention center, rather than in the hotel (like FWA) so maybe less sit down and eat things, like sandwhich material, and more portable snacks would be good. I sudgest having a backpack and adding all your favorite (non perishable) snacks inside like pocky, trail mix, M&M's or whatever other things you like to munch on. If you're worried about spending too much money right before the con you can do what I do and a month or two before hand start stock piling snacks. You wouldn't believe it but you'll eventualy turn up a decent weekend's worth of munchies.
You can pack your bag full, munch all day, and the refill it when you get back to the hotel room! Also, if there are any convience stores near by you can cary things like cup/bowl of noodles and microwave them there (if the hotel has no microwave) Just bring plastic forks with you and you are set to eat!

The dates this year are the 6-8 2007. A hotel hasn't been released and pre reg should be up soon. The theme was annouced at Amano's World for those of you who weren't there. The theme is Video Games Vs. Anime. The Chess Match cast was also listed and that was awesome. You guys its gonna be great!

That was what the convention center had open this year. The hotel is up now and Chess Match Auditions are over now! Mascot is coming up shortly though! Metrocon
