"Of course, Commander. I will join you as soon as I take care of this medallion." Marvus walked over to the small church in the camp. Two gaurds stood at the door, baring entry. "Since when is a priest denied entry to his own church?" The gaurds bristled, and refused to move. "The Bishop has ordered that no one is to disturb him unless it is a matter of the highest import..."
Marvus frowned slightly, and a dangerous look flashed in his eyes. "If you do not move right now, you both will find yourselves in severe pain." The gaurds laughes. "What can a little priest like yourself to do us? I survived the battle of..." Marvus slammed his fist into the gaurds face and broke his nose. "No one, keeps me out of my church you filthy.."
"Enough Marvus. This is neither the time, not the place." The Bishop's voice came from the door way. "Let him pass." Marvus into the church, and the door shut on it's own.
The inside of the church was fairly standard to the Order. Long rows of pews led up to the altar, and hallways branched off from the altar room that led to other smaller areas. The Bishop led Marvus down one of these to a room with books and old scrolls on the walls. Taking one look inside, Marvus' face turned red in color with rage.
"What the hell is he doing here?" Sitting at the desk was the Archmage Rivers. Rivers stood up. "Marvus, calm down!. It was an accident, and you know it!" "That doesn't excuse you from what happened! Because of you I have this damn disease and because of you she was captured by the demons!"
The Bishop laid a hand on Marvus's shoulder. "We are all friends here my child. You and River's issues can be settled elsewhere. But for now, I believe you have something to tell us. Marvus nodded. "I was traveling with my designated scouting party earlier this morning. We came across a Scouting party sent by the Demon Legions. This one was diffrent. It had been completely slaughtered, to the man. I was not able to identify the bodies, but the corpse of a warlock did hold this medallion."

Marvus reached into his pouch and pulled it out. The Bishop and Archmage gasped in pain. "The aura of magic on this thing is overpowering. I believe it attracted one of the old demons. Nothing else could have done damage like this." The Bishop nodded. "Prehaps it is time.." Rivers pulled out a chart. "It has been near one thousand years since the Demon Legions first appeared on our world. One thousand years since the destruction of Stormhaven and the last royal child was taken. That medallion bears the insignia of the family that child was born to!"

The Bishop spoke up. "I want you to take the medallion on behalf of our Order and gaurd it. It won't be an easy task. The Demons will stop at nothing to get the amulet, because it will eventually lead you to the child!"

"So, you want me sacrafice more than I already have? First my health, then my love? What more do you want, my very soul?" Marvus demanded.
"Marvus, that may very well be the cost and you knew it when you took your vows. You WILL take it." Rivers snapped
Marvus growled and began to glow faintly. It is your way, isn't it you b*****d. Take all someone has to give and then demand more"Marvus, control your thoughts!" The Bishop warned. "There are so few of us left, we cannot afford internal fighting at this level!" The glow faded. "I will take it, and I will be back for you Rivers. This isn't over by a long shot." Rivers sighed."Of course not."

"One last thing Marvus," the Bishop said. "Remember where your loyalties lie."
Oh, I know where they are alright."Of course Bishop. If you both will excuse me, I must be with the Commander when she makes her report."

Marvus walked out of the church and glared at the gaurd with the broken nose. Eventually he cought up with Jayne. "We're in deep crap Sir."

Gilrean made sure her horse was settled in the stables before going back to the barracks. She had nothing to say to Jayne's brother, and saw no point in following her new commander.

The day was not yet over, but it felt like it had dragged on for too long. Gilrean, despite being young for an elf, felt old, even by her people's standards. Deep in her heart she wished for some kind of release, but the higher powers had yet to show her a way.

Sighing, Gilrean made her way to the barracks, the sun's light reflecting off her silver hair.

Glancing over her shoulder at him as she walked toward the Command tent,Jayne raised and eyebrow and said "How so? " he doesn't look to good. i bet he's been pushing himself too hard again.

"The Archmage was able to identify the symbol on the medallion," Marvus said with more than a little fury in his voice. "It belonges to the Royal Family. The Bishop also believes that one of the legendary demons was what caused the slaughter. Not just the fodder we see around here, but something actually in a position of power." Marvus scrached his head. "We are supposed to gaurd it until we find the child mentioned in the prophecy, and with the demon after us, it won't be easy at all."
Marvus leaned heavily on his staff as he walked. "Let's go give the bad news to the Commander, I'm sure he will love it."

"it'll be grand." Jayne muttered as she checked in her weapons before entering the command Post.

when they entered they saw John standing over a desk covered in reports, maps, and figurines of enemy troops. he looked up at their entry, "Jayne! glad to see you made it back! i'm a little busy so if you don't have anything important to report..." he let the sentence trail off.she made it back again. good. not that i really expected otherwise, but in today's times...

"actually John, i do have something important." she gestured for Marvus to move forward. " my scouting party came upon a demon scouting party. the thing is, they were all slaughtered when we got there. and not by Kirael. Marvus found this amulet thing there," she gestured for him to show it to the Captain "and, apparentlly, the Archbishop wants us to protect it. i'm not entirely sure why." she turned to look at Marvus for a complete explanation.

Marvus held out the medallion. "Sir, this medallion bears the seal of the Royal Family. The Bishop wishes us to protect it, because it will eventually lead he who possesses it to the child prophecy speaks of." Marvus leaned on his staff and withdrew deeper into his hood. "The Bishop and I believe that it was one of the legendary demons that attacked. I can feel its presence somewhere outside our gates. If he gets it, Kirael is doomed."

John raised his eyebrows, that seemed to be a habit shared by the entire family, and said "is that all?" sarcastically. "so, how strong are these legendary demons. and please put it in idiotic-easy-for-Captain-to-understand talk."

Jayne smiled slightly. that was a running joke between the Captain and everyone else.

Marvus smiled slightly. "If you want the people under your command alive by the end of the week, you will evactuae." Marvus put the medallion around his neck. "These can rarley be killed, and are near impossible to banish. And, we don't even know who it is."

Well...that's...encouraging...Jayne, is everyone at dinner?"

" i think so...except those on the walls sir. i'm guessing you're going to clue them in?"

" i think that would be a good idea. "

he picked up a map of the surrounding area and looked at it. he seemed to become lost in thought.

Jayne sighed. he did that alot. she just stood there waiting for him to make up his mind.

"alright. Marvus, did the Archbishop say anything about keeping this quiet?"

"No, Sir, he didn't." Marvus sighed a little. "It's completely up to you." Marvus grasped the medallion on his neck. "It brings a message of hope I believe should be shared with the world. If the Lady has indeed returned the child, our time of war is almost over."

that decided him. "good. let's go." he rolled the map back up and walked out the door of the command post, heading towards the mess hall. as they walked he grabbed some people that were wandering around and ordered them to gather the company and meet him in the mes hall for an announcement.
when he got there he walked towards the dias, then sat down to await everyone.

Jayne followed her brother. when they got to the mess hall she started spreading the word for everyone to stay after dinner, that the captain wanted to announce something.

Marvus grabbed a chair and sat in the corner by the fireplace and withdrew deeper into his hood. Shortly, he took a bowl of the stew and began eating while waiting for the Captain to talk.

after some of the talk had died down, John stood up and cleared his throat. he recieced almost immediate silence.

"today i recieved some interesting news ladies and gents. so interesting i believe i should share it with you." he paused and looked around "today one of our scouting parties came across a demon scouting party. nothing extremely unusual, except that every one of them were dead. in the hands of their warlock we found a medallion. it is believed that this medallion will lead us to the Child. the Child of the Prophecy." he waited for the whispers and mutters to die down before he continued. "however there is a catch." that got their attention. "it seems that the medallion is wanted by a big, bad, nasty legendary demon. and apparently we have two choices as to how to handle it. one, stay here and get slaughtered, or two, evacuate our camp and join forces with the Wolf Pack company, to the south of us."
there were upset mutters at that. and a voice from the back yelled out "the Wolf Pack! we don't want anything to do with them!" otheres muttered agreements. "now now, i know we haven't had very good relations with them, but they are a strong company. they'll be able to help fend off this demon while we look for the Child." he looked around the mess hall gravely. "i honestly believe we have no other choice." he grew silent, then nodded once and said "the final decision will be made in the morning. think hard." then he stepped down off of the dias and walked back to the Command Post.

Marvus sighed and set aside his food. "We have fought for the survival of not only the human race, but many others for centuries now. Few of our hideouts remain, and we only have one true city left in the world. If the demons get this medallion, not only will our world die, but all the others. It is a simple choice. Live, or we will all die."
