Whatever you do, focus on technique and musicality before speed and power. I've had so many drum-students who've done the opposite and have found themselves stuck under a glass ceiling because they're like:
"Ho s**t, let's see how I fast I can do this!"
...and their fills, beats, and just general feeling is very sloppy. Speed will come in time if you focus on technique.
Bands want a drummer that sounds good, and that doesn't necessarily mean a fast drummer.

just relax and learn rudiments
like do a paradiddle in between the bell fo the ride and your snare so your right hand is on the bell and your left is on the snare its sounds good as a groove or just a little fill
