Celestria-san The very first time I cosplayed was at AZ'03. I went as Battle Angel Alita. = The costume was VERY simple. o_o;; Pic >PIt looked good, though!! ^_^

well my first cosplay was an original character of sorts, as far as offical cosplay I have yet to reveal my cosplays to the world (yes they are already completed)
who are what did you cos-play as? my original character/me
where was it? what con or was it at an anime club? Animazement 2005
Did you make your costume? did you buy it? was it a gift? I made it all by meh self!
Cos-play skills, what are your skillz! managing to dodge every route possible to not have to sew a costume xd

Hi First post in this guild^^
Anyway, my first Cosplay was i think Animazement 04. I hope none of you saw me (or have pictures) cuz i went as Zappa from Guilty Gear X2 (aka LOTS of spandex and lycra).
Trunks is the man btw. Kudos to any of you that have cosplayed as him.

My very first cosplay was Riza Hawkeye from Full Metal Alchemist for the Az '06 convention.
I had a bunch of friends that were going and I was told they were all going as the seven deadly sins. Since the only sin left open was Gluttony and there was no way I was doing that, I opted for Hawkeye since I love her dog and we have the same hair color. I had just finished getting my costume together when I was told only one person was still dressing up as a sin. By that point, I didn't care any more. I was going to be Hawkeye and that was that.
I wore it the first two days. On the second day, I had been wearing a different costume on Saturday, but as soon as I came down stairs, someone I had met at the Friday FMA shoot was like "What are you doing? There's an offical shoot in like ten minutes!" So I ran out to my car [followed by my stalker] and changed in my car...watched by my stalker. Thank god I had under the skirt I'd been wearing
Sunday, I dressed as my Gaia avatar.
It was my first convention and I didn't sleep, didn't eat, I was thirty, hot in my costumes, and my feet hurt. I loved every minute of it

lol. That sounds a lot like my convention stories (except the changing in the car part). I'm wondering when they're going to create a cosplay-worthy anime character with comfy shoes, cause my feet are always killing me by the end of con. I imagine the FMA uniform costume was pretty warm... to make it look good, you'd have to use a pretty thick material.

I'm wondering when they're going to create a cosplay-worthy anime character with comfy shoes, cause my feet are always killing me by the end of con. I imagine the FMA uniform costume was pretty warm... to make it look good, you'd have to use a pretty thick material. I had great shoes. They were perfect! Great fit and all that. I glomped someone so hard, my shoe broke. The hotel staff wouldn't let me go barefoot so I had to buy new boots as soon as the mall opened and since they weren't broken in yet, they were killing my feet. Ironicly, by being forced to wear the shoes all weekend as my only shoes, they are now even more comfy then my old boots were

That's kinda funny. I'm usually barefoot by midday Saturday. They've never said anything to me about it. I didn't do it for my main cosplay this year, but I did w/ my Charlotte dress. XD Once I got off the stage from the hall cosplay, those shoes came off. I don't think I even bothered w/ shoes the year I did white mage. I wore either flip flops under the dress or skipped shoes altogether when I was out roaming the con. I love the fact that Animazement is in a hotel that I can stay in. With Otakon, shoes are a must, simply because you have to walk at least 2 blocks from any of the local hotels to the convention center... Can't just leave the shoes in your room then...

Wait...what? An anime character with comfortable shoes? Are you insane...everyone knows that the secret to being an anime character with special powers is having feet that hurt from being twisted into shapes impossible by the normal laws of physics....
But then again, I'm a guy...so its normally just boots for me sweatdrop

My first cosplay was Dark Chii (Freya) from Chobits. I believe it was May 2004 at Animazement. Unfortunately I lost my camera as I so often do and have no pictures (although I still have the costume). It turned out pretty well for not being quite finished, since I started it only a week before.
I made shoe covers to fit over ultra-comfy-but-grandma-ish walking shoes, so I was able to wear them all day.

The first time I cosplayed was at Animazement 2004, and I was Sesshoumaru-the only one there the whole convention, so my first convention and cosplay was quite interesting.
Animazement 2005-Friday I was Sesshoumaru-I really fixed up the costume, and I was my original character DarkChaos.
Animazment 2006- I didn't really have time to make a costume, so I was Ritsuka from loveless.
I make all of my costumes, and I suppose I'm okay. I've never won a costume competition, but a lot of people compliment me, so I'm not good, but I'm not bad either biggrin

Do you have a picture of your costume? I might recognize you, but I'm not familiar with the character Ritsuka, so I'm not placing anything at the moment.

Oh, I remember seeing you in the cosplay line-up. Kudos to you for getting up there and doing a skit. ^^ It doesn't really matter whether or not you have one of those really awesome costumes or not, and really the judge's tastes can be really fickle--keep in mind even with the best judges what they like is always something subjective. The point of cosplay in my opinion is to have fun.
Actually we learned last year that the awards they give out for that are not based on costume quality anyways; we were the Slayers group if you remember us that did the "Complete Slayers Abridged" Skit. Our Amelia was so scarily ghetto--yarn mop for a wig on a guy who didn't even bother shaving, an undershirt w/ some purple trim tacked on the edges and a pair of khakis. It only vaguely resembled the character. We also learned that they really don't care how much time you take if you can keep their attention. We decided to screw the time limit last year and have fun whether they disqualified us or not. We took somewhere between 3-4 minutes instead of the 90 second limit they gave us--we still got 1st place (first time winning something that was not a judge's award for the cute munchkin that was only really a prop in our skit because he was too young to be left by himself), so obviously they didn't kick us out of the competition, and they obviously didn't care that a lot of our costumes for the skit were last minute. I didn't really care if I won; I just wanted to have fun doing the skit we'd come up with.
