I honestly think both versions of the voice acting are really good; the American version of Azumanga is actually a LOT better than other American voice actors.
Osaka and Chiyo's voices bother me in the American version,so I just watch the Japanese version, though.
But the actual dubbing, with actual words, is quite good.

Come On you guys. The English Dub isn't so bad. In some anime, I sometimes like the english dub than jap. But in cases like other anime, I perfer Jap better.

I'ld like to say this to the lot of you who despise or dislike the dub version. See how well you fair when translating the Japanese words making them workable in english constructed sentences, then having to find at least a handful of decent actors to macth lip synch within a time frame for a certain word or so whilst also giving out emmotion.
In Japan always the voices are done first so they get off easily and it's not so easy to try and match up especially if the accent might be akward to do.
ADV is one of the better respected dubbing companies despite being based in Texas themselves they have done numerous popular anime seriews starting all those years back with Neon Genesis Evangelion namely.

I don't like dubs. I watch anime in Japanese and get used to the voices and then if I listen to the dub version the voices just don't seem to fit. Even if they do a good job with the dubbing I usually find that I don't think the voice matches the character as well as the japanese one. I guess it's just what I get used to. Plus mouths being off with the words is something that really bugs me. I hate it when it happens in other things like american movies too.

I don't know and if dubs don't turn out right that's how it goes I still keep in mind unfortunately stuff like this happens sometimes though. Eh I've heard much worse dubs in some countries beleive me try DB in Spanish. mrgreen

The only dubbed movies that I enjoyed, because of good voice acting and casting, were all the disney ones (English to ______ Conversions) and the movies by hiyo miyazaki... Scratching howl's moving castle of course x' P
