Imladris~Elrond’s Study

Nimirien nodded her head respectfully. ‘ I thank you for your time, Lord Elrond. Ever is your counsel wise. May I say one more thing ere I leave you, as from warrior to lord? If it be as you say, will the Gondorians be able to hold out forever? My lord, I daresay that it is in Gondor, yea it is at the very gates of Minas Ithil, that the stroke of Mordor will fall hardest, and I care not to think what will happen to the rest of the world if Gondor falls and the Shadow spreads. Will any border be truly safe from the Dark Lord and the Ulairi? ‘Twould be better I think to try to join friends while their gates are open, rather than when their walls are besieged. We must repel the Shadow together, my lord, or we will each surely fall to it alone.’ Nimirien paused for a moment, and then added, ‘ Again my lord, I am but a warrior. Your concern is your own borders, not those of some far away land. Would you have me stay to fight for you, my lord? If you so wish it, my sword and my service are yours to command.’ She rose with a dip of her head to depart, but paused for his answer.

Imladris::Elrond's Study

He stayed in thought for awhile, then arose for his answer. 'Indeed you make many good points, as I said, but as of yet Sauron has shown no true threat towards Gondor as long as their bordor patrols and strongholds are still in order.'

He walked around his desk and towards the door then turned back towards her. 'Though you do make a good point and indeed this is something to think about but for now I will wait until call comes from Gondor for extreme aid or Lord Gil-Galad, with whom I put my true council for battle engagement.' he paused, turned towards the door and opened it. While walking out he commented, 'As for your aid, I can see your commitment is true of heart and if you wish to help them then you may go with my consent. We would need you here but you may be of more help to your friends. I must go and attend other matters. If you need my study to think you may have it, if not then you may go with my wishes.' He smiled to her, then strode out the door.

Imladris~Elrond's Study

Nimirien smiled as she rose, and then followed Lord Elrond to the door. She bowed. ' My thanks, Lord Elrond, for your time. Na dhen i dagor mae ned Gondor, ah i hâd sí beriatha. Farewell, Lord Elrond. I shall have to think about your offer. My sword is itching to be released from its sheath, but often the hasty blade is misplaced. Thank you, my lord. With your leave, I believe I shall stay at the least one more night, to think. If I leave, I will notify you, and should I be needed, send word, and if I should leave, and Gondor needs aid, I shall myself send word. Hannon le. Namarie.' she bowed as Lord Elrond departed, and then hesitated. She should probably seek out Arthoron, and hold a counsel with her Rangers on their small course of action. She sighed. There was so much to be done, and she was only one person. Shaking her head, she left the room and closed the door silently behind her.

*Sindarin translation: Be it that the battle is well in Gondor, and this place here is protected.*

Imladris - next to the river

Nebriniel was sitting next to the river staring in to the water as it rushes by. She was thinking about all the pranks that She and Glorfirith had done before and a prank that she could play on Lord Elrond in Glorfirith's absense.

What could I do? I wish Glorfirith was here. It may be hard to think up some good pranks without her. I think I can come with something just as good and manage to pull it off on my own...

She continued to sit, stare and think at the waters edge.

Imladris~ Courtyard surrounding Elrond's Study

Nimirien took a deep breath of the aromatic breeze of Rivendell and smiled at a fountain trickling nearby. If Gondor wasn't on the brink of war she would stay here as long as her fate allowed. But right now, she felt confused and decided a walk would do her good. She wandered around Imladris for a time, pondering all the questions running through her head, and eventually made her way to the stables, where she found Arthoron. ' Arthoron!' she hailed. He looked up quickly from saddling his horse.

' Captain Kalinardu.' he bowed. Quickly he straightened and stood tall. ' I trust your visit to Lord Elrond went well?'

' As well as may be hoped.' she answered. ' Elrond will protect his own borders for the time. I must think. Lord Elrond gave me permission to leave to Gondor anyway, but I have not decided.'

' My lady, it is said that the river is a fair place to think. Elven waters have certain...elvenness to them.' Arthoron offered. Nimirien smiled, clapping a hand on his shoulder.

' Arthoron, I could not be here without you! My thanks! I shall return at the latest by nightfall. I will find you, and we will decide what needs to be decided. In the meantime, farewell.'. He dipped his head with a hand over the rayed silver star brooch at his shoulder and Nimirien returned the gesture, turning promptly around and heading for the river. She had many things to think about.

Imladris

Counselors of Gil-galad

"Sometimes I do wonder why it is we love the king so much."

"Whatever do you mean, Lord Caliondo?"

"Did the High King not tell us he would await us in Imladris should he ride too far ahead?"

"..."

"And was that not nearly three weeks past?"

"..."

"I am retuning home to Lindon."

And yet no sooner did the Lord Caliondo, high counselor of Lindon, utter these possibly treacherous words, were messengers out of Arnor seen riding along the path to the Last Homey House of Elrond. They paused briefly at the side of Caliondo and the other eleven Elves who were of Gil-galad's company, ere he flew to Mordor. "Hail to the Eldar! We bring tidings from your lord, the High King Gil-galad, to the master of this house. Could you be so kind as to guide us to the herald, Elrond?"

News from the south quelled any urge Lord Caliondo maintained to return to the Elven-realm of the West. "It brings to me pleasure to see you, messengers of Elendil. I shall bring you to Elrond Peredhil." And so he did, guiding the three messengers of the D?in into the House of Elrond, and even before the herald's feet.

"Lord Elrond, herald of our King, I bring before you messengers sent by Elendil, to convey a message from Gil-galad. Shall you hearken to them?"

Imladris~ Riverside

Nimirien spent a time at the river, musing over the news she had recieved and the events that had occurred. If the King was in peril, what could she do to help? She was a single captain, with twenty able Dúnedain at her command. She could not possibly hope to turn any battle tides. Her men were valiant, yes, and strong, no doubt, but they were only men. Twenty men. Twenty men and a woman. What could they do? Then she thought of the fell Ulairi she had heard tell of, and of Mordor, and Sauron, and all the dark histories of Morgoth and the Shadows. And then she was aware of just how small and safe she was here in Imladris...safe and hidden in the valley with her twenty and countless serene sweet-singing elves and the brother of the founder of her nation. It was so beautiful here, tranquil, unruffled and comfortable. Safe. She did not grudge Elrond his decision to protect the fair valley, where everything was fair and sweet-scented and well-guarded. Safe. Nimirien stood up smoothly, scanning the side of the river with the hints of a grin on her face.

'Indeed this river is elven and a fair musing-spot! Hail the Waters of Rivendell!' and she turned on her heel, climbing back to the city with her resolved hardened and her decision made. She made her way back to the courtyard outside Elrond's study.

Imladris::Elrond's House

'I shall.' said Elrond as the messengers were brought before him.
'Long have I been awaiting a message such as this from GilGalad.' And indeed he had been. He had been looking for a message to come much sooner but this was indeed still a blessing in his heart for one to come. He motioned for the messengers to follow him into his study and into two chairs that sat among his desk, which was strewn with papers and books from recent restless nights of study.

He sat down and peered over his fingers before finally saying 'Now recite to me this message you carry.'

Imladris

Messengers of Elendil

Deep did the messengers bow before the herald of Gil-galad. "Lord Elrond," said the chief of those three couriers, "we are grateful for having us in your Homely House. Our message is a brief one, so do not fear that you may sucumb to boredom as we convey it."

He rose to full stature before he spoke. "I am Cemendur of the House of Earendur, sent to thee by Elendil High King of Arnor and Gondor, to convey a message sent by Gil-galad High King of Lindon via palantir. The message was recieved in Annuminas but eight days ago, and was promptly forwarded to the eastern post at Amon Sul, also via palantir. Immediately were we dispatched to your fair House. "

A brief moment to catch his breath was at that moment taken, but it was certainly no great length before he continued. "Gil-galad has battled long and hard to rescue the Prince of Isildur of Gondor. The Eagles bore him into Mordor itself, and it was using the elemnt of surprise that he managed to rescue the Prince before any retaliation could be made. Though he was stricken by a Mordor-blade, he made a full recovery.

"But the Enemy was enraged, and so he ordered the Nine to lay siege to Osgiliath and Minas Ithil. A grievous error, it seems, for King Gil-galad and Prince Anarion saw no challenge in raising the short-lived siege. Isildur makes full recovery and Gondor is at peace; though they are now wary. The Cruel will find it difficult to attack the South-kingdom whilst their watch persists.

"This news Elendil gave to me to give to thee. And yet the King of Lindon has one request: for as thou art his herald and his heir (though Lord Anarion is closer in kinship he is not of Elven-kin) he would much like to speak with thee. He makes all speed to Mithlond, travelling by ship. He beseeches thee to ride to Lindon in the West, and await him at Mithlond. This message he sent but eight days past, moments ere he took ship to Pelargir.

"That, my lord, is the message I was entrusted to give to thee. I bid thee make of it what you will."

Imladris::Elrond's Study

Elrond sat and pondered over this information for what seemed like a second, but it was more than enough for him. 'If this is what I have been requested to do then I must adhere to this call.' he said, rising to his feet. 'I must ride to Mithlond will all speed. Bring my horse!' He yelled to his aides waiting upon the other side of the room.

He strode around his desk and for the door as quickly as possible but before he reached it his feet stopped dead. He turned around completly forgetting about his guests. 'I am sorry. I thank you for your message and if you would have no more business with me I must make haste.' Elrond turned once agin towards the door but hearkened back aways to say. 'Oh and if you require anything. Supplies, extra horses or a place to rest for the night Imladris will accomadate you. Farewell for now. I will deliver the return message myself.'

He left the messangers in his study and strode for his room to get together his provisions for the trip.

((Sorry if anything seems out of order or inncorrect but I have a lot of stuff to do and I tried to get in this post so I wouldn't leave you hanging Falathrim. Lol. If I need to change anything let me know. ^_^))

Imladris - Elrond's Abode

Elendor Naurind

Elendor could not rest. His teacher had left to the South, in order to rescue Prince Isildur for more than 10 days. The Elves of Imladris were beginning to worry for their King, that had left also, and news of an attack to Minas Ithil increase their worriness even more. All that Elendor could do was wait.

Until the messengers of Elendil arrived. He watched as the Men of Westernesse entered Elrond's study, apparently carrying an important message. He quickly went to the first floor, and eavesdropped the door...

"I am sorry. I thank you for your message and if you would have no more business with me I must make haste.

Oh and if you require anything, supplies, extra horses or a place to rest for the night Imladris will accomodate you. Farewell for now. I will deliver the return message myself."

As soon as he finished hearing that message, steps were heard from the other side of the door. Elendor quickly steps aside, and runs into the kitchen, where he watches Elrond climb the stairs to his chambers. He steps out of his hiding place and follows the Herald.

Once upstairs, he heard Elrond's room door close. Closed in vain, for Elendor entered the room, and in his fiery spirit, he asked;

"May I go with you to Mithlond? My heart can't rest, and although my mentor ordered me not to leave Imladris, I am willing to disrespect that order, for I wish to see him."

Imladris::Elrond's Room

Upon entering his room Elrond heard a voice cry out in a strong voice from behind him. At first he took it for his mind simply going crazy with all his stress. But upon turning around he realised this was not so.

Standing before him was a strong elf with fire in his eyes and fists clenched. Elrond contemplated his request for a moment before answering. 'You have a stout heart my friend,' Elrond laughed, striding over to him. 'but you cannot ask me to allow you to betray an order.'

He looked into the elfs eyes and studied him hard. He saw his determination and feelings to see his mentor. 'I know that look, and I understand your feelings.' He sat in thought for a moment before replying. 'You may come, but we must be quick!'

He turned back and resumed his supplies packing.

Imladris - Elrond's Chambers

Elendor Naurind

"Sire, I believe that thou art late. I hath everything prepared. The horses are ready, and the supplies are loaded. We are ready to ride this instant, If thou wisheth...for wether or not thou wouldst allow me to ride with thee, I would hath thee followed, bare-footed if necesary."
Elendor replied. He had already prepared everything for his departure, and Elrond's, for his horse was already ready to ride, loaded with all supplies needed.

"Let us haste! The ships of Mithlond are swift, and our horses strong, so we shouldest arrive Mithlond in, at least, 13 days, if we ride night and day, and the ship in about a pair of weeks." He informed, as he prepared to leave the chambers, and mount his horse.

Imladris::Elrond's Room

'Ahh I had not the foresight as you my fellow elf!' Elrond said with a chuckle. 'It seems you hath prepared everything for our journey, if this be the case then let us make haste! We must ride harder and switer than any who have come before us to accomplish our task quickly, come!'

At this he strode quickly out the door, following Elendor down the steps towards the stables where their horses were being restrained outside. They mounted and checked to make sure their supplies were indeed set to go. He looked down upon the stable elf attending them.
'Tell everyone not to worry. I must go on a special errand for now, ' He said with a whole heart, 'but fret not for soon the lord of Imladris shall return!' He smiled and turned upon his horse, facing the vast land that lay ahead of him through the path leading away from his home.

He turned to Elendor and looked upon his stern face. He patted his horse upon the head and said to Elendor, 'You have asked to ride with me and I will grant it upon one condition,' he paused and shifted his head towards the horizon, 'you are going to have to try and keep up!'

With this a broad smile curled upon his face and he gave his horse a quick whisper and took off on his journey away from Imladris towards Mithlond, with Elendor close on his heels.

Imladris~in the Streets

Turbarad wandered about the fair elven streets of Imladris, idly watching birds frolic and elves slide by gracefully. There was little noise in this fair valley; just the sweet singing of songbirds and the sophisticated murmur of the elves in their passing. As he mounted a narrow flight of stairs onto a scenic overlook he heard a few elves, passing downwards, conversing quietly, and their discourse caught his attention.

Elf 1: Yea, Lord Elrond has been called away on perilous duty.

Elf 2:Know you the nature?

Elf 1: Nay, but he has departed to ready his mount. He will ride away to Mithlond ere the sun sets.

Turbarad raised his eyebrows and hastened up the steps to the balcony. The vista of the foliage around Rivendell caused his breath to catch, but he could see only dim blurs of people moving down below. He did catch the shape of two horses, far below, and decided that Captain Kalinardu might be interested in these new tidings.
