Well, not really. For one thing, I hate math. wink Plus lots of big words require the use of the letter ecks, which I have no access to at the moment. xd Kirjava What in the world? eek How did my avatar become a red X and why has my sig gone back to what it was yesterday? Kirjava MeriThranduiliell Kirjava My English professor from last year tried to convince me to major in English. sweatdrop With all the shitty group work I'm doing in Psychology right now I almost regret not doing what she said. English is so much fun, and I'm really interested in it, but the essays freak me out. I always did fine on them, but the stress behind them drives me nuts. I know what you mean- I tend to do well on essays, but then get all stressed out about writing them. xp I think my problem is that those kinds of essays involve planning and long, drawn-out work. I'm just no good at doing today what I could do tomorrow. I'm a massive procrastinator. I work so much better under pressure, which is why I usually leave essay writing to the last minute. I couldn't do that last year because my usual "stay up to three a.m. the night before it's due" routine was interrupted by having a roommate. I couldn't really stay up till 3a.m clacking away on my keyboard while she was trying to sleep. If there were English courses that were straight poetry analyses I so would have majored. Twice in that course we had to write a poetry analysis of a poem we had never seen within one hour. Both times, my professor told me that mine was the best in the class. I'm successful under pressure, and I'm good at pulling stuff out of my a**. XD Shadow calls me the Queen of Bullshit. I procrastinate all the time, as well. I do better under pressure, I think. Plus, then I HAVE to do the paper, rather than work on something else at the same time. I'm good at poetry analysis, too, since it pretty much involves taking them line by line. 3nodding

MeriThranduiliell I procrastinate all the time, as well. I do better under pressure, I think. Plus, then I HAVE to do the paper, rather than work on something else at the same time. Exactly! If I still have three weeks to write a paper, I'm not going to sit down and starting typing it out today. Even two days in advance is too early for me to start. The only time I get stuff done early is if it's group work, and other people's marks are depending on me. I'm desperate not to be disliked, so that's enough to spur me on to writing and getting it done early. I'm perfectly aware that I could get an excellent mark by finishing a paper at 4am the day it's due, but they're not very accepting if I say that. sweatdrop Quote: I'm good at poetry analysis, too, since it pretty much involves taking them line by line. 3nodding Yeah... whenever I did them, I pulled these obscure things together. As long as you can support what you say, you do well. In the first poetry analysis we did, I was stuck. I had no idea what to say, because nothing was calling out at me. Finally, I made up some big convoluted paragraph that said that in Frost's poem "Spring Flowers" (I may have the name wrong), the clumsy rhyming between the words buds and woods represented that trees were thought to be the more imposing, out-of-place plants by the author. The professor loved that, and said that she hadn't even thought of it herself. xd

I just looked up my mark on an exam, and I did terribly. My first bad mark in all of university! 64%. gonk
The professor admitted that the test was so difficult, he had to add 15% to every score just to make the median acceptable. My mark is now a 79%, which I can certainly tolerate... but the fact I got a 64% on an exam is killing me. >_<

It's one thing if I don't get it done- it's another if other people have to suffer. sweatdrop Ah, poetry- when you can spew crap and still do well. xd
