After leaving the tots, Esca had strolled through the trees along a very slightly used trail. She had often come this way herself, although not even close to why the other nikkos usually did. The forest was huge, and if ever there was a place for solace, this was it. One could wander for months in here, and never encounter another nikko or sentient creature, just food stuffs. But she was irritated, as she usually was when she came out here, and she wanted to just go for her little hermitage.
The two tots had provided much less interest than she had hoped; rather, the female had been far too...tot-like, with her whiny petulance and senseless bickering. The male was at least more mature, but he seemed to have no problems with getting dragged along at his sister's coattails, and that kind of show of weakness was more than enough to turn the black rose's stomach.
But then, almost everything seemed to turn the black rose's stomach these days. Lodge nikkos were weak and pitiful, but they tended to be very strong when it came to relationship bonds. The primary delight of a black rose's existance was to destroy love, after all, yet she'd had pretty much zero success in that area, and it drove her mad. She hated to see goggle-eyed nikkos fawning over each other, acting as stupid as babies...and for what? Happiness? Faugh, talk about an overrated thing. Besides, were any of them caring about her happiness? The happiness caused by making others miserable? No, of course not! They were all selfish.
And it got even worse; although originally there had been four of them, four black rose siblings bound by the vows of destroying love, one by one they seemed to be falling to the feelings of love and joy that surrounded the lodge. First her brother Keith, consorting with that female, laughing, playing, acting stupid, and wearing that god-awful hat! And then he had the audacity to try to act mean and hateful when she confronted him...it was just a pathetic act. He was no longer one of them, and now she had one less sibling.
Or make that two; her sister Black Rose had fallen nearly as quickly; she was eager to befriend others, curious, talkative...at least for a black rose. And she was having fun fraternizing with them! Neither she nor Keith had even tried to wreck any relationships; no, they had to engage in them! So now it was just her and her remaining brother, Nightshade...
"We should never have come to this damned lodge. It's ruining us like nothing else could." She growled visciously and spat at a tree as she passed, then continued to walk onward.

(what the heck is that one line post up there? I don't even understand it. Is it even nikko related?)
"How dare you stop me!" Daemona was at it again shouting and screaming at her sibling in anger. She rounded on him as soon as she was sure that the black female was out of sight. Her fur was puffed again and she was bearing down on her twin like a vulture ready to peck his eyes out. "If you ever try to do that again..." Her words were cut off abrubtly by her twin's fast movement and the deep angry glow in his eyes.
"You may be my twin, you may be older by.. what a minute, but you are not my boss and you do not tell me what to do any longer." Something had happened when the dark rose female had come between the two of them. Daemon was not willing to play slave to his sister anymore. He realized that he was stronger than her, and if he was willing he could easily control her. Why hadn't he? Loyalty? He was learning that she wasn't really too worthy of that. "You don't like what we are doing than don't follow me and I will travel alone. You don't like how I speak, than leave!" He hissed at her, his eyes glowing as his spaded tail flicked and sliced through the air.

((*shrugs* I have no idea what it was...one of the other mods must have deleted it, at any rate, because it's gone now))
It wasn't too much longer before Esca reached the break in the trees that marked the entrance to her glade. Usually, she'd stop and look around, to make sure that there was no one around, and that there were no creatures worth hunting, and other things of the like; but all the thinking about the current lot of the black rose nikkos had put her in a foul mood. If she had seen an intruder, she probably would have killed it with one look in her current mood.
"This just bites." She scowled around at the dark trees, as though daring one of them to correct her. Little light managed to penetrate the heavy canopy in this part of the forest, so gloom and darkness where the primary features...and the reason she was so fond of this place. Light was, after all, a menace.
Still scowling, she stalked through the gap and looked around her glade; still as pristine as she'd left it. The dark grass, the heavy steam rising from the little hotspring, and dominating all, a huge craven boulder that rose to nearly twenty feet. It was the boulder that had first attracted her to this place, although the dark and the hot spring were nice assets too. But then, this region was peppered with hot springs, and entire miles of the forest were dark. But none of those other locations had a rock quite like this one.
She smiled slightly, the first smile since she'd met up with those tots. She did so adore her boulder; it symbolized dominance and power, the things that every nikko with any sense ought to desire. No doubt it had been part of the mountain, once upon a time, but had broken off and come to rest here, staying as it was while the forest grew up around it.
"Well, at least somethings around here are as they should be." She sighed and flew up to the top of the boulder, nestling down in a small hollow where she often lay and then drifted into a light doze, her black body becoming invisible against the black stone.

Daemon flicked his tail and watched his sister. He could see the rage that was building up slowly within his sister. He knew that she was going to blow up at him very soon. He just grinned, let her yell, let her rage then he could leave.
Daemona growled as she heard her twin out, she curled her lips back and started walking. "Don't follow me, I don't want you near me anymore. Go back to her if she is so great." She walked on more, moving faster. She planned to leave her brother behind now.
Daemon nodded and turned away heading back deeper into the forest. They were apart and were going to be apart for the first time in their lives.

Time always seemed to pass rapidly for Esca when she was in her glade, and today was no different. Her eyes were half-lidded, barely discernable silver slits as she watched the pattern of light dance on the ground around her. In the time she'd been coming here, she'd gotten very good at determining the position of the sun from the angle of the light shafts. Granted, she didn't care about what time it was, but it was something to take her mind off of...things.
She yawned widely, her dark tail flicking against the rock as she once more though about her siblings. She hadn't seen any of them in ages...although since her disowning of Keith and Black Rose, that basically meant she hadn't seen Nightshade in ages. Was he having any luck breaking up relationships? She rather doubted it; after all, if she was having problems, then he definitly must be.

The twins were alone for the first time in their lives. Daemon moved through the woods like a sparkling shadow, weaving in and out of bushes and off the beaten trail. He had no idea what he was doing now, without his sister's guidance he was just like any other kid. Lost in the woods with nothing to do and no clue as to how to get home. He could only hope that at some point he would manage to stagger into some clearing and find someone that knew where they were.
Daemona was still headed toward the mountains. She moved with an agility that didn't seem to match her youth, and her determination showed that this was something she had planned and wanted to do for a while. But she was lonely. Her twin wasn't there with her to drop things on passing animals and make strange noises to scare the nikko below. The trip was not as fun as she had planned at all.

This was far too irksome! With a snarl of disgust, Esca leapt down off of her boulder, landing on the mossy turf that formed the ground cover of the clearing. No matter how much she tried to dismiss the thoughts, her siblings' traitorous behavior and her own ineptitude kept coming back to nag at her, and it was driving her absolutely mad! How dare those thoughts ignore her wishes like that? It was insufferable!
Her narrowed gaze flitted over the clearing. No animals around, so nothing for her to hunt; nothing much to do to take her mind off things. Ooh, she was so irritated that she'd thought of that in the firstplace! Now she was stuck, and nothing to do but deal with it.
But she was a black rose, damnit! If she didn't want to deal with it, she shouldn't have to; it was as simple as that. But thoughts were annoying; they didn't respond to threats. The only way to get rid of them was to come up with something else to think about.
"Why do I have to be the one to suffer like this? It's not fair!" She snorted challengingly at the rock, as though it would argue with her, then sniffed and leapt into the steaming hot spring with a splash. Maybe a swim would get her mind off things...

Daemona was sitting by the mountain's foot. It would not take long for her to start climbing, but she didn't know if she should go alone. Daemon seemed to at one point want to join her, but now he too had gone off. Perhaps her words were too much this time, but she would not take back a thing she said or thought. She was in the right.
Daemon walked through the grass, the sounds of the night insects following him, and his black pelt causing him to, for the most part blend in with the night. He walked through the grass, throwing up small sparkles from his pelt. It looked like fireflys seeking the air. He was bored though, and he wanted to do something else. His twin was likely having the time of her life, but he had nothing to do but to practice his night vision, watching everything around him.

Esca floated along in the spring, the splashes caused by her tail and paws nearly unnoticeable amidst the steam that rose from the water. Her silvery eyes were half-lidded as she stared upward, noting the beams of light that made it through the dense canopy to pepper the ground. Silly little light beams; they ought to realize it was futile to try to make anything grow down here. Well, anything other than moss.
A dark shadow crossed the one opening in the trees briefly, and the black rose snorted. That had to be Khrnos, off on one of his little exploring adventures. He, Rajau, and Kiba were way too enamored with discovery; they didn't care about what they found, as long as they could find more. But then, all three of them were the pathetic sort, as she very well knew. A slightly malicious smile crossed the kid's face as she contemplated the idea; all three of them were weak...very weak.

Bored.. so bored now. Daemon stopped walking and sat down with a light sigh. He had run out of things to explore, got himself all turned around in the woods and was now running on empty as far as ideas to keep moving through the night. He had no idea how long he had been wandering without the company of his twin, but it felt like forever and a day to be sure. It wasn't that he was dependant on her, nor was she really dependant on him. It was that they had always been together, and when they were parted on such dark terms.... it made him mad. Not at the parting, but at her. How dare she do something that broke them apart like this. A low growl escaped his throat, anger starting to fill him.

The sound of an animal growling close by caused Esca to rise to a state of alertness almost immeadiatly. The black rose teen had been floating for so long now that she could swear she was getting puckery, and she was tired of just lying around. Whatever was growling sounded like it might put up decent enough of a fight to make it worth her time to kill it; maybe a wolf or some other such primitive creature. She smiled in her feral fashion, rising crocodile-like out of the steaming spring and shaking her dripping fur out as she stood on the rocky edge. Now, the growling had come from that way...she smiled maliciously one last time, then lowered her head and crept soundlessly into the dark trees.

How long has he been wandering in the woods? Daemon could have sworn he could feel himself growing as he moved around. He looked down and sighed, the darkness being soo deep his dark form was nearly swallowed by it. Sound still came to him though. Twigs breaking.. animals roaring, birds takeing flight...
Rewind a bit. Animals roaring? His ears flicked in the direction he thought the sound had came from and he moved slowly toward it.
Yes, a wild animal would be a wonderful way to test himself. Death or victory. Either style would be amusing. He didn't care. He just wanted to prove that he was as good a hunter, if not better, than his sister.

((The problems inherant with your nikko growing from kid to adult in the span of one rp *grins))
As silently as ever, Esca lounged on top of her boulder. Days had passed by so routinely that she'd stopped worrying about them; there was nothing to worry about time for, after all. She'd decided to just abandon that lodge, after much thought; there was nothing to see of any interest, nothing but pathetic love-obsessed saps to look at, and nothing to be other than sick. So for now....she was just going to stick to her clearing.

(yeah, what a growth spurt.. must be the demon blood XD )
Hunting.. hunting.. something to be killed. The roaring in the woods still seemed to be calling him as he moved through the wilder lands. He had gotten much bolder, and he liked to track things down now. After a few near misses with some larger animals Daemon had developed something of a style when it came to the hunt. He used the sparkles in his fur to almost call animals to him, and then he would attack. It was an interesting method that seemed to work well for him.
He needed a drink now though, and the scent and sound of water was calling to him, that in mind the wild teen moved toward the water

A light and graceful yawn caused Esca to raise her head, covering her mouth with a paw and looking around. Her glade was as serene and peaceful as ever; the only movement visible was the light wafting of steam as it rose from the small hot spring. It had never been a great place to see animals, since there was almost no shelter and no streams or other ideal drinking water, but in the past it wasn't uncommon to see a bird of some little animal come through.
"Well...apparently the rest of them have no sense of adventure." The black rose smiled slightly as she looked over the side of the boulder; an intricate sculpture built of skulls and leg bones sat against the side. It was a waste to let perfectly good materials go to waste, after all; and as someone had once said, a thing of beuty is a joy forever. Still, it would be nice if the creatures would start coming back again; the numbers had trickled off gradually since she'd moved in, and now they were at a virtual standstill.
