C'nor gave a half-hearted smile at the younger rider. "Hello..." He thought for a moment, looking for the girl's name. "Liana...right?" Normally he didn't have a problem remembering the names of the other riders, but the whole deal with Selene had him out of sorts.

Ashke stretched her body full length after she had dropped her mug and plate. She looked once again around the room, and heaved a sigh, before heading for the door. Ok, Myth. Meet me at the lake, and I'll give you a good scrubbing. It was time for him to have a good bath, she knew that there were patches of his skin needed oiling as well. There was always that patch on his left shoulder that just couldn't seem to get enough oil.

But I've got a really goood spot right now, and the sun is just right. Why don't you go and find something else to do for awhile. Myth replied, sounding occupied.

Now! Ashke stated flatly. Myth was always trying to get out of anything that was not what he wanted to do at the time.

They go to the lake, Kaivani.

Then take us there. And don't forget to let M'tri know what's going on.

I will not.

Regalth picked up her rider and the two headed down to the lake, Kai jumping off before Regalth landed fully and pacing towards the greenrider. She stopped at the edge of the lake, just out of the distance of the lapping waves, since she wasn't properly attired.

"Selene, we need to talk!" She called out to the girl, watching the greenrider swim easily through the water.

Meanwhile, Regalth was following her instructions and reached out to speak with Shadow Kaereth.

Kaereth, please inform your rider that my rider and I may be late for our meeting. She has something that requires her immediate attention.

((Contrition- C'nor's not a weyrling, I brought him in as a full rider when the guild was started. I don't know if you ment that to do that on purpose.))

Selene turned around when she heard Kai call her name.

Great, just great. She thought, inwardly rolling her eyes. Best not get in trouble.

Selene approached the shore, but didn't leave the water.

"Yes, weyrwoman?" She said polietly, but curtly.

Kai sighed at the tone and studied her a tad sadly. Knowing Selene wasn't getting out of the water, Kai balanced herself and began removing her shoes. She'd just have to go in, then. It made no sense to stand all high-and-mighty on the shoreline; she was equal to her riders in any debate, unless it require a queenrider's judgement, Prism or no.

"We need to talk," Kai repeated as she stripped off her shirt, "About what's wrong."

Selene raised an eyebrow as Kai prepared to enter the water.

"Since when do queenriders care about what's wrong with a greenrider? Why not be like everyone else and blame it on Ratanath?" She said a little shortly, green eyes flashing.

"Why would I blame it on your dragon?" Kai asked, blinking in a taken aback fashion. "Ratanath is a fine green." The queenrider turned her gaze to study Ratanath even as she began taking her breeches off. "Well-proportioned, strong in flight, and- unlike most greens- she's very rarely in a bad temper. She's as perfect as any dragon is likely to get." (Yeah, I had to go find her dragonet description in the Hatching. Lol)

Kai folded her pants with a precision born of long practice as she continued to speak. "So why wouldn't I care about a green or her rider? We're all people, and you're clearly upset about something, so I want to see if I can help." She put the pants on top of her shoes and shirt and smiled at the decent neatness to them, then smiled even more widely at Selene. Unlike most smiles, however, this one did seem to be purely because she was pleased with the moment, and didn't have anything behind it but innocent good will.

Selene sighed and shook her head. Might as well get it out of the way. "Most people don't see me, they see my dragon. I am continuously harrassed about when Ratanath's going to rise, and if something is bothering me people just brush it off as Ratanath getting close to rising. I'm tired of it. You don't see it because people treat you differently because you ride a queen."

Selene held up a hand, "Before you say anything about the bronzeriders and them only wanting you for your dragon, listen. People at least take you seriously. Another thing that bothers me is that, as a greenrider, I have no hope of being anything other then a wingrider. I'm better at understand and executing tactic manuvers then many wingseconds, but I couldn't ever become one because I ride a green."

Selene took a breath and looked up at Kai. "I'm just tired of prejudice against me and my dragon."

Instead of staring at Selene or brushing it off as she could have done, Kai frowned slightly and settled back in the water, apparently thinking. She was silent for a few long moments before speaking and on the shore Regalth changed her position and settled back, keeping a watchful eye on the two.

"Thank you for bringing this to my attention. I'm ashamed to say I hadn't thought about how riders in this Weyr act towards greens; I merely expected them all to be respectful, which was a mistake on my part." She turned serious blue eyes to Selene. "I don't know what kinds of things you've heard to prejudice you against queenriders, but I swear to you, they're lies. ... Unless they're good, in which case, they're all true." She smiled, inviting Selene to take on a better mood. "I don't look down on greenriders; I think I may repect greens and blues more than I do even golds and prisms because for all their egg-laying powers- which is still important- they don't do nearly as much heavy lifting."

Paddling around to cool herself off, Kai looked up and let her eyes reflect the sky, carefully phrasing her next reply. "I hope that maybe... we can be friends?"

Selene gave a half smile. "It's just that queenriders always seem so perfect and nice that I have a hard time believing that they're real. It irks me not being able to see some flaw in people."

She sighed and shrugged. "I guess we could try to be friends. I owe you an apology for running out on you like that. That was childish of me."

Selene sighed and laid back in the water, letting it's coolness rush over her.

"I don't expect you to change your views overnight. I just want to show you that we're not quite the way you're expecting us to be. Yes, we try to be nice, but there have been harsh or bad queenriders before. Look at Lessa; she was always sung about, but I'm sure that to do all those things that go against tradition she had to be willful and harsh with those who wanted to stop her. We- Faranth, I am far from perfect, Selene."

Kai shook her head with a smile and then dove underwater so that she could get her hair wet as well.

Selene sighed and stared into the sky. "I suppose. I'm glad that I Impressed Ratanath. At least with being a greenrider you don't have to try to placate people and put up an act to make people happy sometimes." Selene gave a small chuckle, "Also, fighting Thread can be fun."

Kai had broken the surface about half-way through what Selene was saying and looked rather confused as she pushed her wet hair out of the way. "What? You spit on a hat to make people sappy with rhymes?"

Regalth sighed on the shore, but her eyes whirled with amusement. No, Chosen. She said she's glad she "doesn't have to put on an act to make people happy sometimes."

"Oh. I'm sorry, I thought- Yes, fighting Thread is fun," Kai amended, still looking mildly confused and trying to figure out exactly how she'd heard the sentence she had instead of the other one. Regalth's amusement at the situation washed over her and she shot her dragon a mild warning look.

"Let me clarify. From what I have noticed with the riders of the higher dragons is that there are times that they need to act a certain way to persuade people to thier point of view and they are expected to act a certain way. What I was saying was that I'm glad that, as a greenrider, there is rarely need for me to do that. If I don't like a person, I'll tell. If someone insults me, I insult back. Does that help to clear things up?" Selene asked, sitting up.

Ratanath came up beside Selene and lowered her head. Are you starting to feel better?

Yes, thank you, love.
